  • This paper presents a detailed study of the reduced-model extended Kalman filter(EKF) for estimating the rotor speed of an induction motor drive. The general structure of the Kalman filter is reviewed and the various system vectors and matrices are defined. By including the rotor speed as a state variable, the EKF equations are established from a discrete two axis model of the three-phase induction motor, using the software MATLAB/Simulink, simulation of the EKF speed estimation algorithm is carried out for an induction motor drive with indirect vector control.

  • This paper presents a new rotor position estimation method for brushless DC motors. The estimation error of the rotor position clearly provokes the phase shift angle misaligned between the phase current and the back-EMF waveforms, which causes torque ripple in brushless DC motor drives. Such an estimation error can be reduced with the help of the proposed neutral-voltage-based estimation method, which is structured as a closed loop observer. A neutral voltage appearing during the normal mode of the inverter operation is found to be an observable and control table measure, which can be used for estimating an exact rotor position. This neutral voltage is obtained from the DC-link current, the switching logic, and the motor speed values. The proposed algorithm, which can be easily implemented by using a single DC-link current and the motor terminal voltage sensors, is verified by simulation and experiment results.

  • This paper presents a indirect vector control system for induction motors using an adaptive fuzzy logic(AFL) speed estimator. The proposed speed estimator is based on the MRAS(Mode Referece Adaptive System) scheme. In general, the MRAS speed estimation approaches are more simple than any other strategies. However, there are some difficulties in the scheme, which are strong sensitivity to the motor parameters variations and necessity to detune the estimator gains caused by different speed area. In this paper, the AFL speed estimator is proposed to solve the problems. The structure of the proposed AFL is very simple. The input of the AFL is the rotor flux error difference between reference and adjustable model, and the output is the estimated incremental rotor speed.   • PWM-VSI based ac-drives have high nonlinearity due to dead-time in the inverter and the voltage drop across the switching devices. In this paper, we introduced a new nonlinear model of PWM-VSl including parastic capacitor and also showed validity of the model by circuit simulations and experiments. Furthermore, we proposed an on-line identification algorithm for the uncertain model parameters.

  • 본 논문은 영구자석 교류 전동기의 센서리스 위치 오차 최소화 제어 방법에 관한 것으로, 회전자의 위치오차가 최소화 하도록 회전자 속도 추정 gain을 자동으로 조정함으로써 회전자의 속도 및 위치에 대한 오차를 최소화하기 위한 방법이다. 본 논문의 구성은 회전자 위치 오차를 최소화하기 위한 제어기와 이를 회전자 속도 게인으로 활용하는 적용 대상으로 구성 되어 있다. 이는 모터의 온도 및 운전 환경에 따른 parameter의 변동에 강인하도록 제어기의 게인을 자동 설정하며 회전자의 오차를 최소화 하도록 하는 제어기를 제안한다. 또한 본 논문에서 제한하는 알고리즘을 검증하기 위하여 시뮬레이션 하였다.

  • 최근, 벡터 제어에 있어 무시되어 온 철손의 영향이 여러 논문에서 분석 및 보상되어 왔다. 본 논문은 유도 전동기의 고장자자속 기준제어를 이용한 벡터 제어의 운전성능 향상에 관한 연구로서, 모델링시 철손을 고려하고 이를 제어기에 보상함으로써 동특성을 향상하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 무부하시험을 통한 철손 측정과 새로운 비간섭 제어기가 제안된다. 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통해 제안된 기법의 타당성을 입증한다.

Fuzzy Logic Speed Controller of 3-Phase Induction Motors for Efficiency Improvement

  • The paper presents an accurate loss model based controller of an induction motor to calculate the optimal air gap flux. The model includes copper losses, iron losses, harmonic losses, friction and windage losses, and stray losses. These losses are represented as a function of the air gap flux. By using the calculated optimal air gap flux compared with rated flux for speed sensorless indirect vector controlled induction motor, an improvement in motor efficiency is achieved. The motor speed performance is improved using a fuzzy logic speed controller instead of a PI controller. The fuzzy logic speed controller was simulated using the fuzzy control interface block of MATLAB/SIMULINK program. The control algorithm is experimentally tested within a PC under RTAI-Linux. The simulation and experimental results show the improvement in motor efficiency and speed performance.

  • Internet provides the useful method to monitor the current states of the machine tool no matter where a personnel is monitoring them. In this paper, a monitoring method of the torque of the machine tool's spindle induction motor using internet is suggested. The torque of vector controlled induction motor is estimated without speed measuring sensor. Only stator currents are measured to estimate the magnetizing current which is used to calculate flux linkage, rotor velocity and motor torque. Graphical programming is used to implement the suggested algorithm, to monitor the torque of an induction motor in real time and to make the estimated torque monitored on client computers. To solve the fluctuation problem of estimated torque caused from instantly varying rotating speed of an induction motor, the rotating speed is reconstructed based on the measured current signals. Mechanical part of the machine tool is also reconstructed using the data obtained from preliminary experiments. Torque of the spindle induction motor is well monitored on the client computers with 3% error range under various cutting conditions.

  • The compensation problem of error and various problems due to delay of speed sensor itself and speed detection have issued in case using speed sensor in the adjustable speed control of induction motor. This paper have applied the stator flux oriented vector control algorithm and space voltage vector PWM method in order to improve an dynamic character of voltage-source inverter system, and also used the better IP controller in the speed response than Pl controller as speed controller. This paper estimated the rotator speed using input current of inductor motor and flux component invoked through voltage drop by terminal voltage and stator resistor.

  • 본 논문에서는 토크 예측제어 기반의 영구자석 동기전동기의 센서리스 속도 제어기법을 제안한다. 제안한 기법은 Reduced-Order Observer를 이용한 센서리스 방식으로 저속영역에서 불안정해지는 일반적인 센서리스의 단점을 보완하여 저속영역에서도 안정된 속도추정이 가능하다. 또한 토크 예측제어 방식을 사용하여 영구자석 동기전동기의 빠른 응답성과 토크리플 저감 효과를 얻을 수 있다. 제안된 제어기법은 시뮬레이션을 통하여 타당성을 확인한다.
