Rapid technological advances in the area of micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) have spurred the development of small inexpensive sensors capable of intelligent sensing. A significant amount of research has been done in the area of connecting large numbers of these sensors to create robust and scalable Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The resource scarcity, ad-hoc deployment, and immense scale of WSNs make secure communication a particularly challenging problem. Since the primary consideration for sensor networks is energy efficiency, security schemes must balance their security features against the communication and computational overhead required to implement them. In this paper, we combine location information and probability to create a new security aware multipath geographic routing protocol. The implemented result in network simulator (ns-2) showed that our protocol has a better performance under attacks.
Secure routing is vital to the acceptance and use of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) for many applications. However, providing secure routing in WSNs is a challenging task due to the inherently constrained capabilities of sensor nodes. Although a wide variety of routing protocols have been proposed for WSNs, most do not take security into account as a main goal. Routing attacks can have devastating effects on WSNs and present a major challenge when designing robust security mechanisms for WSNs. In this paper, we examine some of the most common routing attacks in WSNs. In particular, we focus on the wormhole routing attack in some detail. A variety of countermeasures have been proposed in the literature for such attacks. However, most of these countermeasures suffer from flaws that essentially render them ineffective for use in large scale WSN deployments. Due to the inherent constraints found in WSNs, there is a need for lightweight and robust security mechanisms. The examination of the wormhole routing attack and some of the proposed countermeasures makes it evident that it is extremely difficult to retrofit existing protocols with defenses against routing attacks. It is suggested that one of the ways to approach this rich field of research problems in WSNs could be to carefully design new routing protocols in which attacks such as wormholes can be rendered meaningless.

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), energy efficiency is one of the most essential design considerations, since sensor nodes are resource constrained. Group communication can reduce WSNs communication overhead by sending a message to multiple nodes in one packet. In this paper, in order to simultaneously resolve the transmission security and scalability in WSNs group communications, we propose a hierarchical cluster-based secure and scalable group key management scheme, called HRKT, based on logic key tree and route key tree structure. The HRKT scheme divides the group key into cluster head key and cluster key. The cluster head generates a route key tree according to the route topology of the cluster. This hierarchical key structure facilitates local secure communications taking advantage of the fact that the nodes at a contiguous place usually communicate with each other more frequently. In HRKT scheme, the key updates are confined in a cluster, so the cost of the key updates is reduced efficiently, especially in the case of massive membership changes. The security analysis shows that the HRKT scheme meets the requirements of group communication. In addition, performance simulation results also demonstrate its efficiency in terms of low storage and flexibility when membership changes massively.
When sensor networks are deployed in open environments, all the sensor nodes are vulnerable to physical threat. An attacker can physically capture a sensor node and obtain the security information including the keys used for data authentication. An attacker can easily inject false reports into the sensor network through the compromised node. False report can lead to not only false alarms but also the depletion of limited energy resource in battery powered sensor networks. To overcome this threat, Fan Ye et al. proposed that statistical on-route filtering scheme(SEF) can do verify the false report during the forwarding process. In this scheme, the choice of a security threshold value is important since it trades off detection power and energy, where security threshold value is the number of message authentication code for verification of false report. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy rule-based system for security threshold determination that can conserve energy, while it provides sufficient detection power in the SEF based sensor networks. The fuzzy logic determines a security threshold by considering the probability of a node having non-compromised keys, the number of compromised partitions, and the remaining energy of nodes. The fuzzy based threshold value can conserve energy, while it provides sufficient detection power.
Sensor network configurations are for a specific situation or environment sensors capable of sensing, processing the collected information processors, and as a device is transmitting or receiving data. It is presently serious that sensor networks provide many benefits, but can not solve the wireless network security vulnerabilities, the risk of exposure to a variety of state information. u-Healthcare sensor networks, the smaller the sensor node power consumption, and computing power, memory, etc. restrictions imposing, wireless sensing through the kind of features that deliver value, so it ispossible that eavesdropping, denial of service, attack, routing path. In this paper, with a focus on sensing of the environment u-Healthcare system wireless security vulnerabilities factors u-Healthcare security framework to diagnose and design methods are presented. Sensor network technologies take measures for security vulnerabilities, but without the development of technology, if technology is not being utilized properly it will be an element of threat. Studies suggest that the u-Healthcare System in a variety of security risks measures user protection in the field of health information will be used as an important guide.
The object of this paper is to design a embedded system based on sensor networks. The proposed system can manage the heating by sensing and analyzing the temperature and humidity in apartment house and others. For implementing this system, we devide JAVA API into the platform-independent JAVA part and platform-dependent native part for the implementation of JAVA API to manage the linux based embedded system devices, and focus on the control of the embedded system devices using JAVA API.
The object of this paper is to design a heating control system based on sensor networks for the house, integrated with computing technology. The proposed system can manage the heating by sensing and analyzing the temperature and humidity in apartment house and others. This system also is capable of giving a comfortable circumstances because the interior of a house is in heated by the sensory temperature based control system.

The key establishment between nodes is one of the most important issues to secure the communication in wireless sensor networks. Some researcher used the probabilistic key sharing scheme with a pre-shared key pool to reduce the number of keys and the key disclosure possibility. However, there is a potential possibility that some nodes do not have a common share in the key pool. The purpose of this paper is to devise a peer to peer key sharing protocol (PPKP) based on Quorum system and Diffie-Hellman key exchange scheme (DHS). The PPKP establishes a session key by creating a shared key using the DHS and then scrambles it based on Quorum system to secure that. The protocol reduces the number of necessary keys than the previous schemes and could solve the non-common key sharing possibility problem in the probabilistic schemes.

The common goals of designing a routing algorithm are not only to reduce control packet overhead, maximize throughput and minimize the end-to-end delay, but also take into consideration the energy consumption. Scalability is an important factor in designing an efficient routing protocol for wireless sensor networks (WSN's). Three metrics (power consumption, time of transmission and packet loss rate) are used in order to compare three routing protocols which are AODV, DSDV and LEACH.

Because sensor networks use wireless communication, they are vulnerable to attacks which are more difficult launch in the wired domain. Many wired networks benefit from their inherent physical security properties. It is unlikely that an adversary will dig up the Internet backbone and splice into the line. However, wireless communications are difficult to protect; they are by nature a broadcast medium. In a broadcast medium, adversaries can easily eavesdrop on, intercept, inject, and alter transmitted data. In addition, adversaries are not restricted to using sensor network hardware. We have analyzed the IEEE 802.15.4, ZigBee specification which includes a number of security provisions and options. In this paper, we highlight places where USN security considerations and home network attack scenarios.
