중 고등학생 대상 영양교육 목표 설정을 위한 영양 관련 문제점 분석 (Setting Instructional Goals for Nutritional Education Program Through an Analysis of Problems Identified in Junior/senior High School Students)

  • For the purpose of developing 'Web-Based Nutritional Education Program', this study analyzed nutritional problems of junior/senior high school students and set appropriate instructional goals for nutritional education program. Survey questionnaires were distributed from October 21,2002 to October 26, 2002 to a total of 564 students at three junior high schools and five senior high schools located in Seoul. The total number of questionnaires collected and used in our study was 479, which is 84.9% of the total questionnaires distributed. According to the survey results, three student groups (male and female students at junior high schools and female students at senior high schools) had lower than an ideal body weight. In case of their Basal Metabolic Indices (BMI), the female students and junior high school students showed a tendency to be underweight, while the other three student groups were within the normal range. The result of the survey showed that all four groups of students showed a deficiency in nutrient intake of calories, calcium and thiamin when compared with Korean RDA. Particularly, in the case of the female students at senior high schools, the deficiency of iron intake was a problem. The survey about food attitudes and food habits of the students showed that the senior high school students had more problems when compared with their junior high school counterparts (p < .001). Therefore, the instructional goals of nutritional education program were set as follows: 1) To improve the level of understanding and the perception of junior and senior high school students about the importance of a dietary lifestyle. 2) To change food attitudes and nutritional knowledge related to individual dietary 1ifestyle, so as to maintain good health through the enhancement of the students' physical activities. We found out that it is critically important to factor in the existing problems of food attitudes and food habits, as well as nutrient intake among junior and senor high school students when setting objectives for nutritional education programs. 한.일 여자고등학생의 가정과에 대한 관심과 학습요구의 실태조사 -가족과 보육을 중심으로- (Senior High School Students'Concerns about Home Economics and their Educational Needs in Korea and Japan -In the areas of the Family and Child Care-)

  • The purposes of this study was to investigate high school girl students’concerns about the family life education in Home Economics and their needs for learning in home economics classes in order to develop an advisable co-education curriculum. The questionnaires were completed by 196 first grade students in Seoul in 1993 and 765 first grade students in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefectures in 1991. The contents of the questionnaire were as follows:1) students’interests in the areas of Home Economics education, 2) students'concerns in their daily life 3) students’interests in a new curriculum for family life education:16 contents from human birth to death. 4) students’experience with their family, and 5) students’educational needs in Home Economics’teaching method. The result of our research showed that:1) Most of senior high school students in Korea and Japan had strong interests in their life and life span. 2) Although there are some differences in the degree of concerns between Korea and Japan, senior high school students in Korea and Japan had strong concerns with their “characteristics and personality”, their “future job”, their “looks and figure”and their “hobby and amusement”, these had not been the contents of home economics in Korea and Japan, but had been in U.S. 3) Very few senior high school students in Japan and especially in Korea had contacts with their grandparents. 4) Senior high school students in Korea and Japan showed strong interests in their near future stage, but they showed less interest in the stage of early childhood. 5) Senior high school students in Korea and Japan showed their diverse needs for learning in home economics classes. The results indicated that co-education curriculum for family life education should meet adolescent needs and concerns, and our new curriculum, “from one’s birth to death/one’s life span”, would be more advisable.

중고등학생 자녀에 대한 사교육비 지출과 사교육 스트레스가 어머니의 부모효능감에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Expenditure on Private Education and Stress Caused by Private Education on Parental Efficacy of Mothers of Junior and Senior High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of expenditure on private education and stress caused by private education on the parental efficacy of mothers of junior and senior high school students. The subjects were 300 mothers of students who were enrolled in the junior and senior high school in Seoul and its suburbs. The results were as follows: First, the level of stress from private education was found to be higher than the degree of parental efficacy. Second, a hierarchical regression analysis was performed by using expenditure on private education and stress caused by private education as independent variables and the socio-demographic characteristics of mothers as control variables in order to identify their effect on the parental efficacy of mothers of junior and senior high school students. The results show that stress from private education and monthly income were significantly related to parental efficacy. That is, the lower the level of stress from private education and the higher the monthly income, the higher was the degree of parental efficacy. These findings suggest that expenditure on private education seems to be determined by the household income level; thus, income may affect psychological stress and parental efficacy of mothers with respect to the process of providing private education.

한국 중등 과학과 학습 지도안의 구성 요소와 유형 (Constituent Elements and Types of Lesson Plan in Science Education of Korean Secondary School)

  • Lesson plan sheets were collected from letter communication of each local junior and senior high school as well as from literature. These lesson plan sheets were arranged and investigated for items of constituent element and types. The results were summarized as follows. 1. The organization of plans were constituted of three frames as early plan, unit plan, and hour plan. 2. The lecture and inquiry types among the collected lesson plan sheets showed 91.9% and 8.3% in junior high school as well as 87.9% and 3% in senior high school, respectively. The mixed types did not find out in junior high school, however the mixed types showed 9.1%in senior high school. 3. The items of constituent elements in lesson plan sheets were varied by the contents and the kinds of teaching unit in science education of secondary school.

A Senior High School Chemistry Laboratory Class Observed by University Students

  • Upon request from the Tokushima Prefectural Senior High School of Science and Technology, two faculty staff members and eight students of The University of Tokushima visited the high school and set up a chemistry laboratory class for 59 students. Since the participating senior high school students were freshmen, four simple, safe and visual experiments were selected: 1) Water purification, 2) Surface modification, 3) Briggs-Rauscher reaction, and 4) Polymer synthesis and characterization. All experiments received a favorable reception as a follow-up questionnaire verified. Since the high school students enjoyed the experiments it is hoped that the results will strengthen the students' interest in chemistry. It was good opportunity for the observers; they recognized the difficulty of teaching students.

중ㆍ고등학생 대상 영양교육 프로그램 효과평가 (Effectiveness of Web-Based Nutritional Education Program for Junior and Senior High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Web-based nutrition education program for junior and senior high school students. Three materials, which were printed materials on Group I, WBI (Web-Based Instruction) leaflet on Group II and the web-based nutrition education program developed in the antecedent research, were applied for 564 students in 3 junior high school and 4 senior high school in Seoul during 4 weeks. Pre-test was done from October 21 to October 26, 2002 and post-test was done from November 25 to December 13, 2002. The statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS WIN (ver. 11.0) for descriptive analysis, t-test and ANOVA. According to the evaluation of effectiveness for web-based nutrition education program, nutrition knowledge, food attitude, food habit and nutrient intake were not significantly improved but positively. And on the evaluation of effectiveness for nutrition education program by materials, WBI was more effective educational materials than WBI leaflet and printed materials. Consequently nutrition knowledge, food attitude, food habit and nutrient intake were improved positively but not significantly using WBI, which was due to the instructional period of the only 4 weeks. Therefore long-term instruction should be required for effective nutrition program, as well as more WBI nutrition education program for high school students would need to be developed in the near future in that WBI was effective material on nutrition education.

Construction of Further Education Curricula System for Math Teachers of Senior High Schools

  • Further education for teachers is required for reforms of elementary education curricula and their career development. Principles of relevance, selectivity and hierarchy should be followed in the construction of further education curricula system for math teachers of senior high school. The following curricula should be included in the system: A. moral elevation and idea renewal curricula; B. theoretic curricula on math education; C. curricula on math education design; D. curricula on math education research; E. curricula on modern educational technology; F. curricula on knowledge renewal and extension.

고교생의 과학적 사고력에 관한 연구-논리적 사고와 추리력을 중심으로- (A Study on Scientific Thinking of Korean High School Students-With Reference to Logical Thinking and Reasoning Power-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the development of logical thinking and scientific reasoning pattern of Korean high school students. To carry out this study subjects were selected about 2,000 Junior high school students, and about 4,100 senior high school students throughout the nation. They were identified as concrete, transitional or formal operational stage with the use of TOLT(the Test of Logical Thinking) by Tobin and Capie(1980), and TOSR(the Test of Scientific Reasoning) by W.A Farmer(1986). This study turned out that more than 76% of Junior high school students were classified as the concrete operational stage and about 44% of senior high school students were classified as the formal operational stage, while about 26% of them were still in the concrete operational level. This study showed that the main factor of the intellectual development of students is learning by the gradual advancement of their grades and especially entrance into the senior high school rather than by the physical growth. This study also showed that there are the take-off stage of the development of logical thinking between fourteen and fifteen years of their ages. Less than 25% of junior high school students were in the formal operational stages which are capable of control of variables, probabilistic, correlation and combinational logic in problem-solving situation, while 33-54% of senior high school students were in the formal operational levels. 38% of junior high school students were in the formal operational stage which is capable of proportional logic, while about 55% of senior high school students were in the formal operational stage. Less than 20% of senior high school students were classified as group of highly capable of scientific reasoning, while more than 23% of them were classified as group of poor capability. It also turned out that there are differences or no differences between male and female students of each school in problem-solving situation regarding each logic approach. These differences were proved to be fluctuating depending on the situations and their grades. The other results of this study is similar to those of other researches such as Tomlinson-Keasey 1972, Coleman 1973, Lawson 1973, Lawson and Renner 1974, Neimark 1975, Han 1982, and Kim 1989.

중년기 여성의 고등학교 3학년 자녀로 인한 스트레스에 관한 연구 (A Study of Stress of Middle-aged Women with a Senior in High School)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the stress caused by having a senior in high school preparing for the college entrance examination, and coping methods of middle aged women in order to have a high quality of life. Method: The subjects of this study were 410 middle aged women. The data were collected by a structured questionnaire during September 5 to October 26, 2005. Result: The respondents' scores of stress were relatively low. The scores of stress perception related to 'studies record inactivity', 'a bad feeling because their sons and daughters are lazy', and worries about fatigue and health of their sons and daughters' were relatively high. The scores of the coping method related to 'affirmative thought and conduct', and 'sincerity it in the senior in high school student' were relatively high. In subjects with a higher degree(score$\geq$3) of stress caused by the senior student in high school the scores of coping methods related to 'projection', 'evasion', and 'perseverance' were relatively higher than the scores of coping methods of subjects with a lower degree (score<3) of stress. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, we should develop an integrated support program for middle-aged women. A place must be made where mothers will be able to discuss the education of their children such as on-line group community by mothers.

일반고와 과학고 학생들의 정신용량과 산화 환원 개념의 이해도가 산화 환원 반응식 완결에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Mental Capacity and Understanding of the Oxidation Reduction Concepts on Senior and Science High School Students' Completion of the Balancing Redox Equations)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 일반고와 과학고 학생들의 정신용량과 산화 환원 개녀 이해 정도가 산화 환원 반응식 완결 문제의 성취도에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 이러한 화학문제 해결에 대한 효과적인 학습 지도 방안 마련에 도움을 주고자 하는데 있다. 이를 위해 일반고 학생92명과 과학고 학생 57명을 연구대상으로 선정하여 정신용량검사, 산화 환원 개념 검사, 산화 환원 반응식 완결 검사를 실시하고 성취도를 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 일반고 학생들은 정신용량이 클수록 산화 환원반응식 완결에서의 성취도가 증가하는 경향을 보였으나 과학고 학생들은 정신용량에 따른 성취도 차이가 없었다. 산화 환원개념 이해 정도를 분석한 결과, 일반고 학생들은 개념 이해 정독 전반적으로 매우 낮았으나 과학고 학생들은 비교적 높았다. 일반고 학생들은 개념을 부분적으로 이해한 학생들의 성취도는 개념을 이해하지 못한 학생들의 성취도보다 높게 나타났고 개념을 이해하지 못한 학생들은 정신용량이 클수록 성취도가 증가하였다. 과학고 학생들은 개념 이해 정도가 높을수록 성취도가 높게 나타났다. 산화 환원 개념을 완전하게 이해한 학생은 일반고와 과학고에 관계없이 그리고 문항 유형에 관계없이 높게 성취도를 나타냈음을 알 수 있었다
