ABET Assessment of a Mechanical Engineering Program through Senior Capstone Design Courses at University of the Pacific

  • This paper describes two capstone senior design courses for the Mechanical Engineering program at University of the Pacific. The first course taught in the Fall semester is entitled "Engineering Design/Senior Project I." The second course taught in the Spring semester is entitled "Engineering Design/Senior Project II." All Mechanical Engineering students with senior standing are required to take these two classes in this sequence. At the end of every Spring semester, industrial advisors are invited to assess the final senior projects during an annual Senior Project Day. This assessment is performed using the Program Outcomes and Program Educational Objectives established for Pacific's Mechanical Engineering program. Since all Mechanical Engineering students are required to complete senior projects, this is a 100% evaluation process. After the evaluations are done, the data sets are compiled and reviewed by the faculty for assessment purposes. It is important to note that the industrial advisors perform the evaluations, but the faculty members assess the information to determine if modifications need to be made to the program or courses. In addition to the senior project evaluations, general feedback from Mechanical Engineering Industrial Advisory Committee (MEIAC) members is also useful for the outcomes-based assessment process in addition to the definition and evaluation of Program Outcomes and Program Educational Objectives.

공공도서관에서 제공하는 노인대상 교육프로그램에 관한 연구 - 노인종합복지관과 비교하여 - (A Study on the Services of Senior Programs in Public Libraries: Compared with the Senior Programs in Senior Welfare Centers)

  • 본 논문은 고령화 사회의 공공도서관에서 제공되는 노인대상 프로그램 개발의 기초자료 수집을 위해 서울시 소재 노인종합복지관과 공공도서관 홈페이지의 노인교육 프로그램을 비교하였다. 프로그램 내용을 건강, 문해/교양, 정보화교육, 죽음준비교육, 취미, 취업/자원봉사의 6가지 세부주제로 구분하여 각 기관별 해당 주제를 조사하였다. 두 기관에서 가장 많은 교육프로그램이 제공된 분야는 취미분야였으며, 노인종합복지관에서는 공공도서관보다 3배이상의 프로그램을 운영하고 있었다. 공공도서관의 경우, 취미(34.1%), 기타, 문해/교양(24.4%), 건강과 정보화교육(22.0%), 취업/자원봉사(17.1%), 죽음준비(7.3%)순으로 프로그램이 제공되었으며, 문제점에 따른 제언을 제시하였다. 그리고 죽음준비교육 프로그램의 일환으로 '행복지도 만들기'를 14주차에 걸쳐서 시행할 수 있도록 프로그램을 예시하였다.

중ㆍ고등학생 대상 영양교육 프로그램 효과평가 (Effectiveness of Web-Based Nutritional Education Program for Junior and Senior High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Web-based nutrition education program for junior and senior high school students. Three materials, which were printed materials on Group I, WBI (Web-Based Instruction) leaflet on Group II and the web-based nutrition education program developed in the antecedent research, were applied for 564 students in 3 junior high school and 4 senior high school in Seoul during 4 weeks. Pre-test was done from October 21 to October 26, 2002 and post-test was done from November 25 to December 13, 2002. The statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS WIN (ver. 11.0) for descriptive analysis, t-test and ANOVA. According to the evaluation of effectiveness for web-based nutrition education program, nutrition knowledge, food attitude, food habit and nutrient intake were not significantly improved but positively. And on the evaluation of effectiveness for nutrition education program by materials, WBI was more effective educational materials than WBI leaflet and printed materials. Consequently nutrition knowledge, food attitude, food habit and nutrient intake were improved positively but not significantly using WBI, which was due to the instructional period of the only 4 weeks. Therefore long-term instruction should be required for effective nutrition program, as well as more WBI nutrition education program for high school students would need to be developed in the near future in that WBI was effective material on nutrition education.

중 고등학생 대상 영양교육 목표 설정을 위한 영양 관련 문제점 분석 (Setting Instructional Goals for Nutritional Education Program Through an Analysis of Problems Identified in Junior/senior High School Students)

  • For the purpose of developing 'Web-Based Nutritional Education Program', this study analyzed nutritional problems of junior/senior high school students and set appropriate instructional goals for nutritional education program. Survey questionnaires were distributed from October 21,2002 to October 26, 2002 to a total of 564 students at three junior high schools and five senior high schools located in Seoul. The total number of questionnaires collected and used in our study was 479, which is 84.9% of the total questionnaires distributed. According to the survey results, three student groups (male and female students at junior high schools and female students at senior high schools) had lower than an ideal body weight. In case of their Basal Metabolic Indices (BMI), the female students and junior high school students showed a tendency to be underweight, while the other three student groups were within the normal range. The result of the survey showed that all four groups of students showed a deficiency in nutrient intake of calories, calcium and thiamin when compared with Korean RDA. Particularly, in the case of the female students at senior high schools, the deficiency of iron intake was a problem. The survey about food attitudes and food habits of the students showed that the senior high school students had more problems when compared with their junior high school counterparts (p < .001). Therefore, the instructional goals of nutritional education program were set as follows: 1) To improve the level of understanding and the perception of junior and senior high school students about the importance of a dietary lifestyle. 2) To change food attitudes and nutritional knowledge related to individual dietary 1ifestyle, so as to maintain good health through the enhancement of the students' physical activities. We found out that it is critically important to factor in the existing problems of food attitudes and food habits, as well as nutrient intake among junior and senor high school students when setting objectives for nutritional education programs. Development of a Smart Device Utilization Education Program for Senior Citizens

  • Purpose: This study is based on the results of the National Information Society Agency's the Report on the Digital Divide in 2022. This study sought to develop digital literacy education programs for senior citizens, a digitally disadvantaged group, and to utilize smart devices to enhance their digital capabilities. Research design, data and methodology: Based on Gagné's nine events of instruction, a total of 7-session educational programs using smart devices were developed, and teaching-learning goals were set at a level that older learners can realistically perform. In preparation for the era of digital transformation, AI utilization methods are introduced and utilized in some sessions of the educational program. Results: Among a total of 7 sessions of the educational program, 5 sessions using KakaoTalk and Naver App, and 2 sessions using other apps were developed. There are a total of three sessions using AI. Conclusions: This study presented a digital literacy education program that combined AI, addressing the insufficiency of AI-based education programs targeting senior citizens. It is expected that this educational program will be able to improve the digital literacy skills and provide a basis for fulfilling their responsibilities as digital citizens by suggesting a direction for AI utilization education for senior citizens.

대전시 노인종합복지관의 운영프로그램 및 이용실태에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Program and Utilization of the Multipurpose Senior Center in Deajeon)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the fundamental materials for architectural planning of the Multipurpose Senior Center according to regional characteristics, and to analyze the Multipurpose Senior Center at the view of the program and utilization. For the analysis of the actual condition are surveyed 164 respondents und programs in four facilities in Deajeon. The results of this study are as follows; 1. the characteristics, problems and demands of the section of social education, the counseling, the medical rehabilitation, the sports education, etc. 2. the consideration factors for the planning of the program and volume of the Multipurpose Senior Center on the basic of the rate of increase in population of the Elderly in regions.

패션디자인 교육을 통한 시니어 여성의 뇌파 및 심리적 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Senior Woman's Psychological & Brain Wave Changes through Fashion Design Education)

  • In this study, the impact of the fashion design education on the brain wave and the psychological change of the senior females and its change was intended to analyze. 16 senior females were selected as a subject and the brain wave and the psychology were analyzed before and after the educational program of 4 hours a day for total 3 weeks. Out of the brain wave, the increase of alpha wave represents the mental stability and the comfortable state and its decrease represents the tension and stress. On the contrary, the increase of beta wave represents the tension and the excitation. In the brain wave analysis results, the alpha wave was increased and the beta wave was decreased after the design education program, through which it is deemed that the design education would help to increase the psychological stability and to decrease the tension and the stress in the senior females. In the results of analyzing the psychological test, while the test results for 4 senior females were shown as anxious out of 16 senior females, the BAI score was decreased to 'minor anxiety' after the education and the BAI score was decreased except 2 subjects, through it is deemed that the fashion design education would help to reduce the anxiety in the senior females and it seems that it is coincided with the beta wave analysis results.

  • 본 연구는 고용 없는 성장과 고령화로 진입하는 국내경제 환경에 따라 이를 극복하기 위한 방안으로 시니어 기술창업을 위한 방안에 대해 고찰하였다. 정부와 기업이 운영하고 있는 시니어 창업지원의 한계점을 제시하고 한계점을 극복하기 위해 핀란드의 브릿지 프로그램의 성공요인을 파악하였다. 브릿지의 성공요인은 기업 주도형 시니어 창업지원 프로그램을 운영, 시니어들의 창업성공에 중심을 둔 다양한 교육 프로그램 제공, 창업기업과의 적절한 교류 기회 확대와 민간기업의 사회환원 마인드 확산이다 국내 시니어 기술창업 활성화를 위해 본 연구는 CBI(Corperate Business Incubator)를 통한 방안을 제언 하였다. 본 연구는 창업지원 정책의 발전방향을 파악하고 정부정책 및 산업 활성화 방안수립에 기여할 것이다. 향후 연구는 여러 국가 사례 비교를 통한 분석을 통해 기여점을 제시하는 것이다.

계획적 행동이론을 적용한 노인교육프로그램 이용의도에 관한 연구 - 충청남도 노인복지관을 중심으로- (A study on the intention of utilizing senior education program including the theory of planned behavior - focused on Chungcheongnam-do senior welfare center)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 복지관 노인교육프로그램 이용자들의 행동, 주관적 규범, 지각된 행동통제, 직원과의 공감성이 이용의도에 미치는 영향을 파악하는데 있다. 이를 살펴보기 위해 Fishbein과 Ajzen(1975)의 계획적 행동이론과 Parasuraman, Zeithaml 그리고 Berry(1988)의 서비스품질 중 직원과의 공감성이 이용의도에 미치는 영향에 대하여 연구문제을 설정하였다. 연구방법은 구조화된 질문지를 이용하여 충청남도 복지관 노인교육프로그램 이용자 336명으로 부터 자료를 수집하였고, 연구문제 검증을 위한 자료 분석은 회귀분석을 사용하였다. 본 연구 결과에 의하면, 복지관 노인교육프로그램 이용자의 태도, 주관적 규범, 지각된 행동통제, 직원과의 공감성 등이 이용의도에 밀접한 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다.

라디오와 노인: 라디오 노인 대상 프로그램을 중심으로 (Radio and Senior Generation: Focused on Radio Program for Senior)

  • 본 연구는 라디오 노인 대상 프로그램의 제작자들이 어떠한 인식을 가지고 노인 대상 프로그램을 제작하는 지를 고찰했다. 이를 위해 현재 노인 대상 라디오 프로그램 제작에 참여하고 있는 PD, 작가, 진행자를 심층 인터뷰했다. 연구결과, 첫째로, 제작자들은 노인대상 프로그램의 청취자들이 충직한 청취자 군을 형성하고 있다고 파악했다. 노인들은 프로그램 내용면에서는 건강, 정보, 노래 부르기를 선호하고, 진행자와 의사사회관계를 형성했다. 둘째, 방송사들은 이윤 획득이나 청취율보다는 공익 구현과 방송사의 이미지 제고를 위해 노인대상 프로그램을 편성했다. 노인 대상 프로그램은 모두 새벽 시간대에 편성되고 있다는 고정관념과는 달리 채널의 성격에 따라 오후 황금시간대 편성이 되기도 했다. 대상 시청자층은 60세 이상 노인에서 40대, 50대로 확대되는 경향이 나타났다. 셋째로 라디오 프로그램의 제작자의 역할에서는 진행자와 작가의 역할이 돋보였다. 진행자는 해당 프로그램을 상징하는 존재로서 청취자를 결집하는 구심점이 되었다. 작가는 장기간 집필하면서 프로그램의 명맥을 있는 역할을 하며 전문 작가 군을 형성하고 있다. 반면 PD는 방송사의 편성 방침에 따라 6개월-1년 단위로 교체되어 프로그램의 운영이나 내용 면에서 새로움과 변화를 가져오는 역할을 하는 것으로 확인되었다.
