Conducting sentiment analysis and opinion mining are challenging tasks in natural language processing. Many of the sentiment analysis and opinion mining applications focus on product reviews, social media reviews, forums and microblogs whose reviews are topic-similar and opinion-rich. In this paper, we try to analyze the sentiments of sentences from online webcast reviews that scroll across the screen, which we call live barrages. Contrary to social media comments or product reviews, the topics in live barrages are more fragmented, and there are plenty of invalid comments that we must remove in the preprocessing phase. To extract evaluative sentiment sentences, we proposed a novel approach that clusters the barrages from the same commenter to solve the problem of scattering the information for each barrage. The method developed in this paper contains two subtasks: in the data preprocessing phase, we cluster the sentences from the same commenter and remove unavailable sentences; and we use a semi-supervised machine learning approach, the naïve Bayes algorithm, to analyze the sentiment of the barrage. According to our experimental results, this method shows that it performs well in analyzing the sentiment of online webcast barrages.

Video Object Segmentation (VOS) task requires an amount of labeled sequence data, which limits the performance of the current VOS methods trained with public datasets. In this paper, we propose two effective data augmentation schemes for VOS. The first augmentation method is to swap the background segment to the background from another image, and the other method is to play the sequence in reverse. The two augmentation schemes for VOS enable the current VOS methods to robustly predict the segmentation labels and improve the performance of VOS.

IRecently, researches on the recognition of indoor user situations through various sensors in a smart home environment are under way. In this paper, the case study was conducted to determine the operation of the robot vacuum cleaner by inferring the user 's indoor situation through the operation of home appliances, because the indoor situation greatly affects the operation of home appliances. In order to collect learning data for indoor situation awareness model learning, we received feedbacks from user when there was a mistake about the cleaning situation. In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised learning method using user feedback data. When we receive a user feedback, we search for the labels of unlabeled data that most fit the feedbacks collected through genetic algorithm, and use this data to learn the model. In order to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, we performed a comparison experiments with other learning algorithms in the same environment and confirmed that the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than the other algorithms.
Telemarketing has become the center of marketing action of the industry in the information society. Recently, machine learning has emerged in many areas, especially, financial prediction. Financial data consists of lots of unlabeled data in most parts, and therefore, it is difficult for humans to perform their labeling. In this paper, we propose a fusion method of semi-supervised learning for automatic labeling of unlabeled data to predict telemarketing. Specifically, we integrate labeling results of label propagation and co-training with a decision tree. The data with lower reliabilities are removed, and the data are extracted that have consistent label from two labeling methods. After adding them to the training set, a decision tree is learned with all of them. To confirm the usefulness of the proposed method, we conduct the experiments with a real telemarketing dataset in a Portugal bank. Accuracy of the proposed method is 83.39%, which is 1.82% higher than that of the conventional method, and precision of the proposed method is 19.37%, which is 2.67% higher than that of the conventional method. As a result, we have shown that the proposed method has a better performance as assessed by the t-test.

Exploiting unlabeled text data with a relatively small labeled corpus has been an active and challenging research topic in text mining, due to the recent growth of the amount of biomedical literature. Biomedical named-entity recognition is an essential prerequisite task before effective text mining of biomedical literature can begin. This paper proposes an Active Co-Training (ACT) algorithm for biomedical named-entity recognition. ACT is a semi-supervised learning method in which two classifiers based on two different feature sets iteratively learn from informative examples that have been queried from the unlabeled data. We design a new classification problem to measure the informativeness of an example in unlabeled data. In this classification problem, the examples are classified based on a joint view of a feature set to be informative/non-informative to both classifiers. To form the training data for the classification problem, we adopt a query-by-committee method. Therefore, in the ACT, both classifiers are considered to be one committee, which is used on the labeled data to give the informativeness label to each example. The ACT method outperforms the traditional co-training algorithm in terms of f-measure as well as the number of training iterations performed to build a good classification model. The proposed method tends to efficiently exploit a large amount of unlabeled data by selecting a small number of examples having not only useful information but also a comprehensive pattern.
Named entity recognition is a process which extracts named entities in sentences and determines categories of the named entities. Previous studies on named entity recognition have primarily been used for supervised learning. For supervised learning, a large training corpus manually annotated with named entity categories is needed, and it is a time-consuming and labor-intensive job to manually construct a large training corpus. We propose a semi-supervised learning method to minimize the cost needed for training corpus construction and to rapidly enhance the performance of named entity recognition. The proposed method uses distance supervision for the construction of the initial training corpus. It can then effectively remove noise sentences in the initial training corpus through the use of an active bagging method, an ensemble method of bagging and active learning. In the experiments, the proposed method improved the F1-score of named entity recognition from 67.36% to 76.42% after active bagging for 15 times.
Recently, the neural network-based deep learning algorithm has dramatically improved performance compared to the classical Gaussian mixture model based hidden Markov model (GMM-HMM) automatic speech recognition (ASR) system. In addition, researches on end-to-end (E2E) speech recognition systems integrating language modeling and decoding processes have been actively conducted to better utilize the advantages of deep learning techniques. In general, E2E ASR systems consist of multiple layers of encoder-decoder structure with attention. Therefore, E2E ASR systems require data with a large amount of speech-text paired data in order to achieve good performance. Obtaining speech-text paired data requires a lot of human labor and time, and is a high barrier to building E2E ASR system. Therefore, there are previous studies that improve the performance of E2E ASR system using relatively small amount of speech-text paired data, but most studies have been conducted by using only speech-only data or text-only data. In this study, we proposed a semi-supervised training method that enables E2E ASR system to perform well in corpus in different domains by using both speech or text only data. The proposed method works effectively by adapting to different domains, showing good performance in the target domain and not degrading much in the source domain.
3D human pose estimation models can be classified into a multi-view model and a single-view model. In general, the multi-view model shows superior pose estimation performance compared to the single-view model. In the case of the single-view model, the improvement of the 3D pose estimation performance requires a large amount of training data. However, it is not easy to obtain annotations for training 3D pose estimation models. To address this problem, we propose a method to generate pseudo ground-truths of multi-view human pose data from a multi-view model and exploit the resultant pseudo ground-truths to train a single-view model. In addition, we propose a multi-view consistency loss function that considers the consistency of poses estimated from multi-view images, showing that the proposed loss helps the effective training of single-view models. Experiments using Human3.6M and MPI-INF-3DHP datasets show that the proposed method is effective for training single-view 3D human pose estimation models.
Accurate segmentation of the kidney tumor is necessary to identify shape, location and safety margin of tumor in abdominal CT images for surgical planning before renal partial nephrectomy. However, kidney tumor segmentation is challenging task due to the various sizes and locations of the tumor for each patient and signal intensity similarity to surrounding organs such as intestine and spleen. In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised learning-based mean teacher network that utilizes both labeled and unlabeled data using a kidney local guided map including kidney local information to segment small-sized kidney tumors occurring at various locations in the kidney, and analyze the performance according to the kidney tumor size. As a result of the study, the proposed method showed an F1-score of 75.24% by considering local information of the kidney using a kidney local guide map to locate the tumor existing around the kidney. In particular, under-segmentation of small-sized tumors which are difficult to segment was improved, and showed a 13.9%p higher F1-score even though it used a smaller amount of labeled data than nnU-Net.
In the case of Domeggook B2B online shopping malls, it has a market share of over 70% with more than 2 million members and 800,000 items are sold per one day. However, since the same or similar items are stored and registered in different catalog entries, it is difficult for the buyer to search for items, and problems are also encountered in managing B2B large shopping malls. Therefore, in this study, we developed a catalog entry auto classification and recommendation system for products by using semi-supervised machine learning method based on previous huge shopping mall purchase information. Specifically, when the seller enters the item registration information in the form of natural language, KoNLPy morphological analysis process is performed, and the Naïve Bayes classification method is applied to implement a system that automatically recommends the most suitable catalog information for the article. As a result, it was possible to improve both the search speed and total sales of shopping mall by building accuracy in catalog entry efficiently.
