As the technologies advance, mobile peer-to-peer (MP2P) networks or systems become one of the major ways to share resources and information. On such a system, the information retrieval (IR), including the development of scalable infrastructures for indexing, becomes more complicated due to a huge increase on the amount of information and rapid information change. To keep the systems on MP2P networks more reliable and consistent, the index structures need to be updated frequently. For a semantic IR system, the index structure is even more complicated than a classic IR system and generally has higher update cost. The most well-known indexing technique used in semantic IR systems is Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI), of which the index structure is generated by singular value decomposition (SVD). Although LSI performs well, updating the index structure is not easy and time consuming. In an MP2P environment, which is fully distributed and dynamic, the update becomes more challenging. In this work, we consider how to update the sematic index generated by LSI and keep the index consistent in the whole MP2P network. The proposed Concept Space Update (CSU) protocol, based on distributed 2-Phase locking strategy, can effectively achieve the objectives in terms of two measurements: coverage speed and update cost. Using the proposed effective synchronization mechanism with the efficient updates on the SVD, re-computing the whole index on the P2P overlay can be avoided and the consistency can be achieved. Simulated experiments are also performed to validate our analysis on the proposed CSU protocol. The experimental results indicate that CSU is effective on updating the concept space with LSI/SVD index structure in MP2P semantic IR systems.
This paper is an attempt to design segmentation method based on fully convolutional networks (FCN) and attention mechanism. The first five layers of the Visual Geometry Group (VGG) 16 network serve as the coding part in the semantic segmentation network structure with the convolutional layer used to replace pooling to reduce loss of image feature extraction information. The up-sampling and deconvolution unit of the FCN is then used as the decoding part in the semantic segmentation network. In the deconvolution process, the skip structure is used to fuse different levels of information and the attention mechanism is incorporated to reduce accuracy loss. Finally, the segmentation results are obtained through pixel layer classification. The results show that our method outperforms the comparison methods in mean pixel accuracy (MPA) and mean intersection over union (MIOU).
To investigate how personality test items are understood by participants, their semantic representations were explored by Latent Semantic Analysis, In this thesis, Semantic Similarity Matrix was proposed, which contains cosine similarity of semantic representations between test items and personality traits. The matrix was compared to traditional factor loading matrix. In preliminary study, semantic space was constructed from the passages describing the five traits, collected from 154 undergraduate participants. In study 1, positive correlation was observed between the factor loading matrix of Korean shorten BFI and its semantic similarity matrix. In study 2, short personality test was constructed from semantic similarity matrix, and observed that its factor loading matrix was positively correlated with the semantic similarity matrix as well. In conclusion, the results implies that the factor structure of personality test can be inferred from semantic similarity between the items and factors.

The Semantic Web is an evolving extension of the WWW in which the semantics of information and services on the web is defined, making it possible for the web to understand and satisfy the requests of people and machines to use the web content. The sementic web relied on the ontologies that structure underling data for the purpose of comprehensive and transportable machine understanding. The Semantic Web relies on the ontologies that structure underlying data for the purpose of comprehensive and transportable machine understanding. And recommendation systems have been developed as a solution to the abundance of choice people face in many situations. This paper shows that the new recommendation method is suitable for effective recommendation on the semantic web. We present a new procedure for improving the effective recommendation by using the levelized context ontology. Our experimental results also confirm that our method has good recommendation time. Our proposed method can be generalized to fit other application domains.

This paper treats the japanese adjective phrase forming derivational suffix -tai from a new point of view: firstly it tries to approach from a semantic standpoint by applying the proposal made in Ikeya (1991). It will be shown that adjective phrases formed by -tai fits nicely with the semantic structure proposed by Ikeya. Secondly, we attempt to 'derive' -tai sentences by adopting a basic framework of HPSG so that we can 'derive' them without having recourse to transformational operations, that is, in a monostratal way. In tackling the problem we have tried to incorporate many ideas proposed so far on this issue.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the lexical-semantic structure of morphologically derived passive verbs in Korean based on Pustejovsky (1995)'s Generative Lexicon Theory (GL) and to explain the change of the root verb's lexical-semantic structure by means of passivization. Passivization in this paper is defined as the unaccusaztivization. In Argument Structure of derived passive verbs, the agent argument is deleted and the theme argument is realized as a syntactic subject. As for Event Structure, derived passives express left-headed event (achievement), whereas their roots denote right-headed event (accomplishment). In Qualia Structure, passive verbs and root ones have the same Fomal Role, but in Agentive Role of passive verbs, an act weakens to a process. Both Formal and Agentive Roles have the same theme argument.

The purpose of this paper is to suggest a pilot model of knowledge organizing system which reflects the knowledge structure of research papers, using a case analysis on the "Korean Research Memory" of the National Research Foundation of Korea. In this paper, knowledge structure of the research papers in humanities and social science is described and the function of the "Korean Research Memory" for scholarly sense-making is analysed. In order to suggest the pilot model of the knowledge organizing system, the study also analysed the relation between indexed keyword and knowledge structure of research papers in the Korean Research Memory. As a result, this paper suggests 24 axioms and 11 inference rules for an ontology based on semantic relation of the knowledge structure.
In this paper, we describe a generation mechanism of semantic-based queries for high accuracy information retrieval and question answering. It is difficult to offer the correct retrieval result because general information retrieval systems do not analyze the semantic of user's natural language question. We analyze user's question semantically and extract semantic features, and we .generate semantic-based queries using them. These queries are generated using the se-mantic-based question analysis grammar and the query generation rule. They are represented as semantic features and grammatical morphemes that consider semantic and syntactic structure of user's questions. We evaluated our mechanism using 100 questions whose answer type is a person in the TREC-9 corpus and Web. There was a 0.28 improvement in the precision at 10 documents when semantic-based queries were used for information retrieval.

The purpose of this study is to build a metadata set based on the semantic structure of the Korean studies research articles. For this purpose, we analyzed the related researches which suggested the semantic structure of the research articles, categorized the concepts of author keywords of the Korean studies research articles, and drew the metadata set of 16 elements from the results of the analysis and the categorization. The significance of this study is that it propose a semantic metadata configuration methodology which can reflect the scholarly sense-making of researchers in Korean studies. Especially, this study is significant because it reflects the keywords which was given by the actual researchers to examine the content characteristics of the Korean studies research articles.

Specifying the semantic structure for functional interfaces and lambda expressions, which are the latest features of Java, can be referenced when designing similar functions in the future, and is also required in the process of standardizing or implementing an optimized translator. In this study, action equation 3.0 is newly proposed to express the static and dynamic semantic structure of functional interfaces and lambda expressions by modifying and upgrading the existing expressions to express the semantic structures of java functional interfaces and lambda expressions. Measure the execution time of java programs by implementing the semantic structure specified in action equation 3.0 in java, and prove that action equation 3.0 is a real semantic structure that can be implemented through simulation. The superiority of this action equation 3.0 is to be confirmed by comparing the action equation 3.0 specified in the four areas of readability, modularity, extensibility and flexibility with the existing representative semantic expression methods.
