  • This study proposes an ontology design framework to support the cooperation among devices by using PROLOG, Conceptual Graph (CG), and Resource Description Framework (RDF). Quite a large number of representation languages for representing ontology on the Web have been established over the last decade. Most of these researches are focused on design of independent resources description. In Semantic Web, however, cooperation ontology will be needed. In this study, the CG could make an entire conceptual view of knowledge and RDF can represent that knowledge. Then the PROLOG could support the natural inference based on that knowledge. Therefore, our proposed ontology will be used in the designing of Semantic Web-based cooperation systems.

  • During the decades, considerable human interventions to comprehend the web information were increased continually. The successful expansion of the web services made it more complex and required more contributions of the users. Many researchers have tried to improve the comprehension ability of computers in supporting an intelligent web service. One reasonable approach is enriching the information with machine understandable semantics. They applied ontology design, intelligent reasoning and other logical representation schemes to design an infrastructure of the semantic web. For the features, the semantic web is considered as an intelligent access to understanding, transforming, storing, retrieving, and processing the information gathered from heterogeneous, distributed web resources. The goal of this study is firstly to explore the problems that restrict the applications of web services and the basic concepts, languages, and tools of the semantic web. Then we highlight some of the researches, solutions, and projects that have attempted to combine the semantic web and business support, and find out the pros and cons of the approaches. Through the study, we were able to know that the semantic web technology is trying to offer a new and higher level of web service to the online users. The services are overcoming the limitations of traditional web technologies/services. In traditional web services, too much human interventions were needed to seek and interpret the information. The semantic web service, however, is based on machine-understandable semantics and knowledge representation. Therefore, most of information processing activities will be executed by computers. The main elements required to develop a semantic web-based business support are business logics, ontologies, ontology languages, intelligent agents, applications, and etc. In using/managing the infrastructure of the semantic web services, software developers, service consumers, and service providers are the main representatives. Some researchers integrated those technologies, languages, tools, mechanisms, and applications into a semantic web services framework. Therefore, future directions of the semantic web-based business support should be start over from the infrastructure.

  • In this research, a proposed Dynamic Virtual Ontology using Tags (DyVOT) supports dynamic search of resources depending on user's requirements using tags from social web driven resources. It is general that the tags are defined by annotations of a series of described words by social users who usually tags social information resources such as web-page, images, u-tube, videos, etc. Therefore, tags are characterized and mirrored by information resources. Therefore, it is possible for tags as meta-data to match into some resources. Consequently, we can extract semantic relationships between tags owing to the dependency of relationships between tags as representatives of resources. However, to do this, there is limitation because there are allophonic synonym and homonym among tags that are usually marked by a series of words. Thus, research related to folksonomies using tags have been applied to classification of words by semantic-based allophonic synonym. In addition, some research are focusing on clustering and/or classification of resources by semantic-based relationships among tags. In spite of, there also is limitation of these research because these are focusing on semantic-based hyper/hypo relationships or clustering among tags without consideration of conceptual associative relationships between classified or clustered groups. It makes difficulty to effective searching resources depending on user requirements. In this research, the proposed DyVOT uses tags and constructs ontologyfor effective search. We assumed that tags are extracted from user requirements, which are used to construct multi sub-ontology as combinations of tags that are composed of a part of the tags or all. In addition, the proposed DyVOT constructs ontology which is based on hierarchical and associative relationships among tags for effective search of a solution. The ontology is composed of static- and dynamic-ontology. The static-ontology defines semantic-based hierarchical hyper/hypo relationships among tags as in (http://semanticcloud.sandra-siegel.de/) with a tree structure. From the static-ontology, the DyVOT extracts multi sub-ontology using multi sub-tag which are constructed by parts of tags. Finally, sub-ontology are constructed by hierarchy paths which contain the sub-tag. To create dynamic-ontology by the proposed DyVOT, it is necessary to define associative relationships among multi sub-ontology that are extracted from hierarchical relationships of static-ontology. The associative relationship is defined by shared resources between tags which are linked by multi sub-ontology. The association is measured by the degree of shared resources that are allocated into the tags of sub-ontology. If the value of association is larger than threshold value, then associative relationship among tags is newly created. The associative relationships are used to merge and construct new hierarchy the multi sub-ontology. To construct dynamic-ontology, it is essential to defined new class which is linked by two more sub-ontology, which is generated by merged tags which are highly associative by proving using shared resources. Thereby, the class is applied to generate new hierarchy with extracted multi sub-ontology to create a dynamic-ontology. The new class is settle down on the ontology. So, the newly created class needs to be belong to the dynamic-ontology. So, the class used to new hyper/hypo hierarchy relationship between the class and tags which are linked to multi sub-ontology. At last, DyVOT is developed by newly defined associative relationships which are extracted from hierarchical relationships among tags. Resources are matched into the DyVOT which narrows down search boundary and shrinks the search paths. Finally, we can create the DyVOT using the newly defined associative relationships. While static data catalog (Dean and Ghemawat, 2004; 2008) statically searches resources depending on user requirements, the proposed DyVOT dynamically searches resources using multi sub-ontology by parallel processing. In this light, the DyVOT supports improvement of correctness and agility of search and decreasing of search effort by reduction of search path.

  • In this study, we propose a methodology of mating it easy to integrate the heterogeneous and distributed information of e-Business environments with the semantic web components , knowledge representation, ontology and agents. It is based on a collaborative interoperable environment, which should be constructed by meta-modeling and employing agents , and the syntactic/semantic integration. We adopt OWL(Web Ontology Language) to specify ontology in a layered architecture for each agent to use, which is based on the IRDS (Information Resource Dictionary Standard) framework. And we give an illustrative example using the terms from PSL(Process Specification Language)-ontology. By defining, managing and sharing resources and business-processes on the proposed framework, it could be possible to get rid of the cause of redundancy and inconsistency.

  • Semantic web is utilized to construct advanced information service by using semantic relationships between entities. Text mining can be applied to generate semantic relationships from unstructured data resources. In this study, ontology schema guideline, ontology instance generation, disambiguation of same name by text mining and advanced historical people finding service by reasoning have been proposed. Various relationships between historical event, organization, people, which are created by domain experts, are linked to literatures of National Institute of Korean History (NIKH). It improves the effectiveness of user access and proposes advanced people finding service based on relationships. In order to distinguish between people with the same name, we compares the structure and edge, nodes of personal social network. To provide additional information, external resources including thesaurus and web are linked to all of internal related resources as well.

  • Grid Computing has enabled enormous amount of computational jobs by connecting distributed computing resources. This technology has developed and widely used in various fields. Previous researches usually focused on how to efficiently manage and use the grid resources. However, there was not enough tries to understand and manage information of application softwares in a well-defined structure. Therefore users in application domain need to how about grid deeply to identify and describe the resource requirements matching for each jobs. We introduce a semantic grid management system based on application ontology to overcome this problem. We design and implement the ontology to store various information of the applications. With the ontology, this system can infer the resource requirements from input parameters and input data of the application software and automatically assign appropriate resources by matching the requirement. Also it can transform the information to other forms which grid middlewares can handle. We apply the system to construct an analysis environment of bioinformatics and compare it with other grid systems to explain usefulness of the system.

  • The actual utilization of Semantic Web technology which aims to provide more intelligent and automated service for information retrieval over the Web becomes gradually reality. RDF is widely used as the one of standard formats to present and manage the voluminous data on the Web. Efficient query processing on RDF data, therefore, is one of the ongoing research topics. Retrieving resources having a specific association from a given resource is the typical query processing type and several researches for this have done. However the most of previous researches have not fully considered discovering the complex relationship among resources such as returning the association between resources as the query processing result. This paper introduces the indexing and query processing for ${\rho}$-intersect operation which is one of the semantic association retrieval types. It includes an indexing scheme using suffix array and optimal processing approaches for handling ${\rho}$-intersect operation. The experimental evaluations shows that the average execution times for the proposed approach is 3~7 times faster than the previous approach.
