  • The amount of sources of information available on the web using ontologies as support continues to increase and is often heterogeneous and distributed. Ontology alignment is the solution to ensure semantic interoperability. In this paper, we describe a new ontology alignment approach, which consists of combining structure-based and reasoning-based approaches in order to discover new semantic correspondences between entities of different ontologies. We used the biblio test of the benchmark series and anatomy series of the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI) 2012 evaluation campaign to evaluate the performance of our approach. We compared our approach successively with LogMap and YAM++ systems. We also analyzed the contribution of our method compared to structural and semantic methods. The results obtained show that our performance provides good performance. Indeed, these results are better than those of the LogMap system in terms of precision, recall, and F-measure. Our approach has also been proven to be more relevant than YAM++ for certain types of ontologies and significantly improves the structure-based and reasoningbased methods.

  • The semantic web is taken as next generation standards of information exchange on the internet to overcome the limitations of the current web. To utilize the information on the semantic web, tools are required the functionality of query search and reasoning for the ontology. However, most of semantic web management tools cannot efficiently support the search for the complex query because they apply Triple-based storage structure about RDF metadata. We design the storage structure of the ontology in corresponding with the structure of ontology data and develop the search system(SMART-DLTriple) to support complex query search efficiently in this research. The performance of the system using new storage structure is evaluated to compare with the popular semantic web management systems. The proposed method and system make a contribution to enhancement of a practical ontology reasoning systems due to improved performance of the ontology search.

  • The context aware service is the service to provide useful information to the users by recognizing surroundings around people who receive the service via computer based on computing and communication, and by conducting self-decision. But CAS(Context Awareness System) shows the weak point of small-scale context awareness processing capacity due to restricted mobile function under the current mobile environment, memory space, and inference cost increment. In this paper, we propose a mobile cloud context system with using Google App Engine based on PaaS(Platform as a Service) in order to get context service in various mobile devices without any subordination to any specific platform. Inference design method of the proposed system makes use of knowledge-based framework with semantic inference that is presented by SWRL rule and OWL ontology and Jess with rule-based inference engine. As well as, it is intended to shorten the context service reasoning time with mapping the regular reasoning of SWRL to Jess reasoning engine by connecting the values such as Class, Property and Individual which are regular information in the form of SWRL to Jess reasoning engine via JessTab plug-in in order to overcome the demerit of queries reasoning method of SparQL in semantic search which is a previous reasoning method.

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented a semantic social network system in Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine (abbreviated as KIOM). Our social network system provides the capabilities such as tracking search, ontology reasoning, ontology graph view, and personal information input, update and management. Tracking search provides the search results by the research information of relevant researchers using ontology, in addition to those by keywords. Ontology reasoning provides the reasoning for experts, mentors, and personal contacts. Users can easily browse the personal connections among researchers by traversing the ontology by graph viewer. These allows KIOM researchers to search other researchers who could aid the researches and to easily share their research information.

  • In this study, we propose a method to augment the provided reasoning paths to improve the answer performance and explanatory power of KGQA. In the proposed method, we utilize LLMs and GNNs to retrieve reasoning paths related to the question from the knowledge graph and evaluate reasoning paths. Then, we retrieve the external information related to the question and then converted into triples to answer the question and explain the reason. Our method evaluates the reasoning path by checking inference results and semantically by itself. In addition, we find related texts to the question based on their similarity and converting them into triples of knowledge graph. We evaluated the performance of the proposed method using the WebQuestion Semantic Parsing dataset, and found that it provides correct answers with higher accuracy and more questions with explanations than the reasoning paths by the previous research.

  • The term "big data" has recently gained widespread attention in the field of information technology (IT). One of the key challenges in making use of big data lies in finding ways to uncover relevant and valuable information. The high volume, velocity, and variety of big data hinder the use of solutions that are available for smaller datasets, which involve the manual interpretation of data. Semantic computing technologies have been proposed as a means of dealing with these issues, and with the advent of linked data in recent years, have become central to mainstream semantic computing. This paper attempts to uncover the state-of-the-art semantics-based approaches and tools that can be leveraged to enrich and enhance today's big data. It presents research on the latest literature, including 61 studies from 2011 to 2014. In addition, it highlights the key challenges that semantic approaches need to address in the near future. For instance, this paper presents cutting-edge approaches to ontology engineering, ontology evolution, searching and filtering relevant information, extracting and reasoning, distributed (web-scale) reasoning, and representing big data. It also makes recommendations that may encourage researchers to more deeply explore the applications of semantic technology, which could improve the processing of big data. The findings of this study contribute to the existing body of basic knowledge on semantics and computational issues related to big data, and may trigger further research on the field. Our analysis shows that there is a need to put more effort into proposing new approaches, and that tools must be created that support researchers and practitioners in realizing the true power of semantic computing and solving the crucial issues of big data.

  • With the increasing demand for interoperability among existing learning resource systems in order to enable the sharing of learning resources, such resources need to be annotated with ontologies that use different metadata standards. These different ontologies must be reconciled through ontology mediation, so as to cope with information heterogeneity problems, such as semantic and structural conflicts. In this paper, we propose an ontology-mapping technique using Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) to generate semantic mapping rules that integrate learning resources from different systems and that cope with semantic and structural conflicts. Reasoning rules are defined to support a semantic search for heterogeneous learning resources, which are deduced by rule-based inference. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach enables the integration of learning resources originating from multiple sources and helps users to search across heterogeneous learning resource systems.

  • The Web Ontology Language (OWL) has become the W3C recommendation for publishing and sharing ontologies on the Semantic Web. To derive hidden information from OWL data, a number of OWL reasoners have been proposed. Since OWL reasoners are memory-based, they cannot handle large-sized OWL data. To overcome the scalability problem, RDBMS-based systems have been proposed. These systems store OWL data into a database and perform reasoning by incorporating the use of a database. However, they do not consider complete reasoning on all types of properties defined in OWL and the database schemas they use are ineffective for reasoning. In addition, they do not manage updates to the OWL data which can occur frequently in real applications. In this paper, we compare various database schemas used by RDBMS-based systems and propose an improved schema for efficient reasoning. Also, to support reasoning for all the types of properties defined in OWL, we propose a complete and efficient reasoning algorithm. Furthermore, we suggest efficient approaches to managing the updates that may occur on OWL data. Experimental results show that our schema has improved performance in OWL data storage and reasoning, and that our approaches to managing updates to OWL data are more efficient than the existing approaches.

  • The method of recent information retrieval passes into an semantic search to provide more accurate results than keyword-based search. But in common user case, they are still accustomed to using existing keyword-based search. Hence they are hard to create a typed structured query language. In this paper, we propose to ontology knowledge-base scheme for query interpretation of these user. The proposed scheme was designed based on the OWL-DL for description logic reasoning, it can provide a richer representation of the relationship between the object by using SWRL(Semantic Web Rule Language). Finally, we are describe the experimental results of the similarity measurement for verification of a user query semantic interpretation.
