  • Semantically-operated services, which is different from Web services or semantic Web services with semantic markup, can be defined as the services providing search function or reasoning function using ontologies. It performs a pre-defined task by exploiting URI, ontology classes, and ontology properties. This study introduces a method for pipelining semantically-operated services based on a semantic broker which refers to ontologies and service description stored in a service manager and invokes by user constraints. The constraints consist of input instances, an output class, a visualization type, service names, and properties. This method provides automatically-generated service pipelines including composit services and a simple workflow to the user. The pipelines provided by the semantic broker can be executed in a fully-automatic manner to find a set of meaningful semantic pipelines. After all, this study would epochally contribute to develop a portal service by ways of supporting human service planners who want to find specific composit services pipelined from distributed semantically-operated services.

  • Many techniques have been proposed to store and query XML data efficiently. One way achieving this goal is using relational database by transforming XML data into relational format. It is important to transform schema to preserve the content, the structure and the constraints of the semantics information of the XML document. Especially, key constraints are an important part of database theory. Therefore, the proposal technique has considered the semantics of XML as expressed by primary keys and foreign keys. And, the proposal technique can preserve not only XML data constraints but also the content and the structure and the semantics of XML data thru transformation process. Transforming information is the content and the structure of the document(the parent-child relationship), the functional dependencies, semantics of the document as captured by XML key and keyref constraints. Because of XML schema transformation ensures that preserving semantic constraints, the advantages of these transformation techniques do not need to use the stored procedure or trigger which these data ensures data integrity in the relational database. In this paper, there is not chosen the ID/IDREF key which supported in DTD, the inheritance relationship, the implicit referential integrity.

  • In this paper, we propose a mechanism to transform more effective and semantically equivalent queries by using appropriately represented three kinds of knowledge. Also we proposed a mechanism which transforms partially omitted components or expressions into complete queries so that users can use more simple queries. The knowledges used to transform and optimize are semantic, structural and domain knowledge. Semantic knowledge includes semantic integrity constraints and domain integrity constraints. Structural knowledge represents physical relationship between relations. And domain knowledge maintains the domain information of attributes. The proposed system optimizes to more effective queries by eliminating/adding/replacing unnecessary or redundant restrictions/joins.

  • This paper discusses constraints on grammaticalization, a primarily diachronic process through which lexical elements take on grammatical functions. In particular, it will argue that two constraints on this process, namely Persistence and Lwering, explain the different distributional patterns of time-relationship adverbs in Japanese, Korean, English and German. Furthermore, it will suggest that the distributional difference between Japanese and Korean time-relationship adverbs is not an isolated phenomenon but is a reflection of the overall semantic typological differences between the two languages in the sense of Hawkins (1986).

  • the two Korean causal conjunctive suffixes, -nula(ko) and -nun palamey, based on corpus linguistic analysis. Many of the linguistic accounts available, both in pedagogical reference and in the literature on linguistics, provide incomplete analyses of these suffixes, based on fabricated linguistic data. Using naturally occurring, real linguistic data, this paper examines the syntactic and semantic structures of the two causal suffixes through a consideration of three areas of corpus linguistic analysis: token frequencies, collocations, and semantic prosody. An analysis based on concordance data reveals that the two causal connectives, -nula(ko) and -nun palamey, have more differences than similarities in terms of syntactic and semantic constraints. The idiosyncratic structures of the two suffixes are discussed in terms of same subject condition, verb selection, same agent condition, synchronicity condition, and negative semantic prosody.

  • This paper is an HPSG approach to agreement phenomena involving the Korean honorific expressions. it is shown that the theoretical devices developed by the constraint-based theory of HPSG can be fruitfully used to capture the interactions between syntactic constraints and semantic of pragmatic factors in Korean honorific agreement. The HPSG's semantic feature 'referential index' plays a key rele in discribing the multiple interaction. The constraint-based theory of agreement proves successful in accounting for the phenomenon that may be called 'inconsistent' honorific agreement as well as 'consistent' regular honorific usages. However, this paper acknowledges its limit. Recognizing an important distinction between basic and 'coercive' honorific expressions, it is argued that a systactic-semantic-pragmatic approach such as the present one can only be applied to basic honorific agreement. Being sociolinguistic in nature, coercive honorific agreement is perhaps not amenable to formal linguistic investigation.

  • This study presents a schema matching technique which can be applied to XML semantic model of structural calculation reports of steel-box bridges. The semantic model of structural calculation documents was developed by extracting the optimized common elements from the analyses of various existing structural calculation documents, and the standardized semantic model was schematized by using XML Schema. In addition, the similarity measure technique and the relaxation labeling technique were employed to develop the schema matching algorithm. The former takes into account the element categories and their features, and the latter considers the structural constraints in the semantic model. The standardized XML semantic model of steel-box bridge's structural calculation documents called target schema was compared with existing nonstandardized structural calculation documents called primitive schema by the developed schema matching algorithm Some application examples show the importance of the development of standardized target schema for structural calculation documents and the effectiveness and efficiency of schema matching technique in the examination of the degree of document standardization in structural calculation reports.

  • Korean language has different structural properties which are controlled by semantic constraints of verbs. Also, most of Korean sentences are complex sentences which consisted of main clause and embedded clause. Therefore it is difficult to describe appropriate syntactic grammar or constraint for the Korean language and the Korean parsing causes various syntactic ambiguities. In this paper, we suggest how to describe CFG-based grammar using sentence patterns as syntactic constraint and solve syntactic ambiguities. To solve this, we classified 44 sentence patterns including complex sentences which have subordinate clause in Korean sentences and used it to reduce syntactic ambiguity. However, it is difficult to solve every syntactic ambiguity using the information of sentence patterns. So, we used semantic markers with semantic constraint. Semantic markers can be used to solve ambiguity by auxiliary particle or comitative case particle.

  • Purpose: As more and more food franchise companies want to expand overseas, related research is becoming more and more necessary. This study aims to examine the critical factors for successful overseas expansion according to the stages of overseas expansion, derive vital associations, and examine the success factors of overseas expansion through semantic network analysis. Research Design, Data, and Methodology: This study conducted in-depth interviews with three food franchise companies that have experienced overseas expansion and conducted semantic network analysis among crucial associations. The semantic network analysis was conducted using the Textom program. Results: Based on the results of the in-depth interview analysis, the factors considered when expanding overseas were categorized as 1) standardization and localization strategies of overseas franchisees, 2) physical environment of overseas franchisees, 3) entry types of overseas franchisees, 4) constraints of overseas franchisees, and 5) success criteria of overseas franchisees. The semantic network analysis based on the corresponding keywords showed that the importance of local partners is very high in common. Conclusion: This study examined and re-categorized the important factors to consider when a restaurant franchise company expands overseas in a step-by-step manner. In addition, an attempt was made to examine the keywords derived from the semantic network analysis objectively. The results provided theoretical and practical implications for the successful overseas expansion of franchise companies.
