Purpose: The study was to identify influencing factors on fear of falling in postmenopausal women. Methods: With a correlational survey design, 125 postmenopausal women were recruited at the D metropolitan city by a convenience sampling. Fracture risk status was assessed by bone mineral densities (BMD) at lumbar and femur with DEXA method. A structured study questionnaire was used to measure demographic variables, osteoporosis self-efficacy, and fear of falling. Results: Mean age of the subjects was 59 years old and duration since menopause was 9.55 years. Twenty six percent of the subjects belonged to osteoporotic group in fracture risk status. Mean score for fear of falling was 16.10 (SD=5.18) indicating low level, and osteoporosis self-efficacy for exercise and diet was 44.76 (SD=7.41), indicating mid-range level. Factors influencing the fear of falling was longer time since menopause ($\beta=.30$), lower score of osteoporosis self-efficacy for exercise ($\beta=-.26$), poor health perception status ($\beta=-.16$), and presence of chronic disease ($\beta=.16$), and the explained variance was 20%. Conclusion: Although the level of fear of falling was yet low in postmenopausal women, women who had lower self-efficacy of osteoporosis for exercise and poorer health perception felt greater fear of falling. Therefore, an educational program specific to improve osteoporosis self-efficacy and reduce the fear of falling is needed for improving postmenopausal women's psychosocial well-being.
Purpose : This study aimed to investigate the public's perception of reimbursement for the education and counseling services provided to advanced practice nurses in intensive care units. Method : This was a secondary data analysis study. The original data were collected utilizing an online panel. The sample comprised 615 individuals aged between 19 and 49 years nationwide. Objectives : To determine which factors are related to young adults perception of their health. Two research questions were asked. Which aspects of health does self-perceived health as a index of general health reflect? Why do two individuals with the same level of general health have different health perceptions? Methods : The sampling frame comprised college or graduate school students, aged 20 to 29, who were members of A, one of the 4 biggest internet communication services. The questionnaires were sent to study samples(n=1,000) and answered by E-mail. Response rate was 37.0%. Results : Firstly, physical health ranked highest and self-perceived health ranked lowest. Secondly, health, anxiety, depression, and self-perceived health showed significant differences between the sexes, with women showing a higher health status in these categories except for self-perceived health. Thirdly, the two factors significantly related to self-perceived health were physical health and self-esteem, as determined by multivariate analysis, Conclusions : The factors significantly related to self-perceived health were physical health and self-esteem. Further studies of the health characteristics of young adults are needed.
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the status of visual health behavior of school-age children and to identify the predicting variables of the school-age children's visual health behavior. Method: The subject was 764 children in grades 4 to 6, enrolled in 2 elementary schools located in urban area. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The findings were as follows: 1. The mean of the score of the visual health behavior of school-age children was 41.59(SD=7.22) and there was a significant difference according to grade. 2. There were significant correlations between visual health behavior and self-efficacy for visual health behavior (r=.51, p=.000), motivation for visual health(r=.45, p=.000), perceived benefits(r= .34, p=.000), self-concept(r=.32, p=.000), knowledge of visual health(r=.30, p=.000), health perception for vision(r=.16, p=.000), health locus of control(r=.11, p=.002), and perceived barriers(r=.-.12, p=.000). 3. Self-efficacy for visual health behaviors, knowledge of visual health, motivation for visual health, self-concept, health perception for vision, and perceived benefits were identified as predictor variables of the visual health behavior of the school-age children from the stepwise multiple regression analysis. The total percent of variance accounted by these 6 variables were 36.9%. Conclusion: From the result, it is suggested that the development of comprehensive visual health education program including the component of self-efficacy, health motivation and self-concept to promote the visual health of school-age children.
Purpose: The purposes of this study were to identify the scores of perceived job stress, health perception and health promoting life style in community health nurses and to define the correlations of three variables. The relationship among job stress, health perception and health promoting life style were not statistically significant. The relationships between age, overloading job, knowledge & skill deficit and problem of interpersonal relationship were statistically significant. The relationship between religion and problem of interpersonal relationship was statistically significant. The relationships between single of marital status, knowledge & skill deficit and problem of interpersonal relationship were statistically significant. The relationship between career and stress management was statistically significant. Conclusion: These results suggested that health promotion program for community health nurses to reduce job stress, promoting health promoting life style should be carefully developed so as to provide better quality of health care services to the community people.
This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between diabetes empowerment, health perception, and diabetes self-care behaviors with diabetes for the elderly in the community, and to identify the factors affecting diabetes self-care behavior in the elderly with diabetes. A survey was conducted on 80 diabetic elderly people over the age of 65 who were registered at a local public health center. The mean age was 71.15 years, and 41 males and 39 females were included. Diabetes self-care behavior showed a significant positive correlation with economic status (r=.245, p=.029) and diabetes empowerment (r=.406, p<.001), but health perception (r=.127, p=.263) did not show a significant correlation. As a result of this study, diabetes empowerment and economic status of the diabetic elderly were found to be significant influencing factors on diabetes self-care behavior in the diabetic elderly, and the explanatory power of the model was 19.6% (F=10.623, p<.001). Therefore, if a community program is developed to improve the diabetes empowerment of the elderly with diabetes in the community and economic support policies are also provided at the level of public health, it will be possible to improve the self-care behavior of the elderly with diabetes in the community.

The study aimed to identify knowledge and attitude about drugs and current status of self-medication among nursing students. Methods: The subjects were 172 nursing students from a university in Busan. Data were collected with structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA using SPSS 23.0. Results: Nursing students had a high level of knowledge about drugs, but attitudes toward drugs were relatively low. 83.7% of patients had experience of self-medication. The methods to acquire information for self-administration were 29.9% by smart phone and 27.1% by internet. The use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) among self-medication drugs was the highest. The most common reason for self-medication was 'I thought it to be a mild disease', and the pharmacists were the most affected by choice of self-medication. The knowledge about drugs was statistically significant according to grade, school life satisfaction and subjective health status. The attitudes about medication were statistically significant according to grade and self-medication experience. Conclusion: Nursing college students need drug safety education to improve awareness and practice of correct drug use.
