The Effects of The Parent Brand-Congruity on the Attitude to Expanded Brand (모 브랜드-일치성이 확장브랜드에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - This study presents the relationships between parent brand-self image congruence, parent brand -functional congruity, perceived fit between parent brand and extension product, and consumer's attitude toward extension product using the structural equation model. As for preceding concepts having a direct effect on consumer's attitude toward brand extension, the study focuses on parent brand-self image congruence and parent brand-functional congruity. It also looks at the effect of parent brand-self image congruence and parent brand-functional congruity on the consumer's attitude toward extension product and identifies if the perceived fit between parent brand and extension product is a concept playing a mediating role between parent brand-self image congruence or parent brand-functional congruity and consumer's attitude toward brand extension product. Research design, data, and Methodology - SPSS for Windows 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 were used for data analysis. Then, the Cronbach's α coefficient was obtained using SPSS for Windows 18.0 to measure reliability. In addition, the convergence and discriminative measures of the measured items were statistically verified using AMOS 18.0. Finally, we have validated a path model and a parameter model in which brand personality-self-matched attitude toward brand extension. Results - Studies have shown that the impact of parent brand-self image consistency and parent brand-functional consistency on the attitude of extended products was positive. Perceived fit between parent brand and extension products has been shown to play a role of intermediary between parent brand-self image congruence and consumer attitudes to extended products. However, perceived fit between parent brand and extension products did not play a role as intermediary between the parent brand-functional congruity and the attitude toward the extended product. Finally, in relation to the causal relationship between parent brand-congruity (self image/functionality) and attitudes to extended products. The effect of parent brand-functional coherency on attitudes toward extended products was found to be greater in groups with higher involvement than in those with lower involvement. Conclusions - Although few studies have been done on what variables mediated when parent brand-self image consistency and parent brand-functional coherency affect consumer attitude, this paper is significant in finding whether perceived fitness between the parent brand-congruity and the extension product is mediated.

Development and validation of women's environmental health scales in Korea: severity, susceptibility, response efficacy, self-efficacy, benefit, barrier, personal health behavior, and community health behavior scales

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop the following scales on women's environmental health and to examine their validity and reliability: severity, susceptibility, response efficacy, self-efficacy, benefit, barrier, personal health behavior, and community health behavior scales. Methods: The item pool was generated based on related scales, a wide literature review, and indepth interviews on women's environmental health according to the revised Rogers' protection motivation theory model. Content validity was verified by three nursing professionals. Exploratory factor analysis, convergent validity, and internal consistency reliability were examined. Results: The scales included 10 items on severity, 11 on susceptibility, 10 on response efficacy, 14 on self-efficacy, 8 on benefits, 10 on barriers, 17 on personal health behavior, and 16 on community health behavior. Convergent validity with the environmental behavior scale for female adolescents was supported. The Cronbach's α values for internal consistency were good for all scales: severity, . 84; susceptibility, .92; response efficacy, .88; self-efficacy, .90; benefits, .91; barriers, .85; personal health behavior, .90; and community health behavior, .91. Conclusion: The evaluation of the psychometric properties shows that these scales are valid and reliable measures of women's environmental health awareness and behaviors. These scales may be helpful for assessing women's environmental health behaviors, thereby contributing to efforts to promote environmental health.

The Reliability and Validity of Korean Version of the Wheelchair User's Shoulder Pain Index in Wheelchair Users (휠체어 사용자를 위한 한국어판 WUSPI의 신뢰도와 타당도)

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to establish the reliability and validity of the Wheelchair User's Shoulder Pain Index (WUSPI), which was translated into Korean for long-term wheelchair users. This index measured 15 functional activities, including transfer, self-care, wheelchair mobility and general activities. METHODS: To assess test-retest reliability, 23 long-term wheelchair users completed this self-administered index twice within the same day. Reliability was determined by the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), and Cronbach's alpha was used to measure internal consistency. To examine concurrent validity, 21 long-term wheelchair users completed the questionnaire, and we examined the correlation between the index score and the shoulder range of motion measurements. RESULT: The results showed that the intraclass correlation for test-retest reliability of the total index score ranging from .88 to .99 was good to excellent. Additionally, Cronbach's alpha was .96. The internal consistency indicated excellent. Concurrent validity showed negative correlations of total index score to range of motion measurements of shoulder flexion (rho=-.58), extension (rho=-.09), abduction (rho=-.59), external rotation (rho=-.07) and internal rotation (rho=-.3), suggesting a relationship of total index score to loss of shoulder range of motion. CONCLUSION: The Korean WUSPI shows not only high reliability and internal consistency, but also concurrent validity with loss of shoulder flexion and abduction.

  • Despite the rapid growth and importance of social enterprises in recent years, most social enterprises have many limitations such as small business size, financial dependence on government, lack of professional management personnel and knowledge, and low consumer awareness. Therefore, empirical research in the field of marketing is needed for economic independence of social enterprises. This study is based on the following: First, the identity of the social enterprise and the self-image of the consumer, second, the functional correspondence between the consumer's expectation and actual performance of the social enterprise's product, and third, the social value of the social enterprise product, the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of consumer value consistency on customer satisfaction and loyalty to social enterprises. Finally, this study aimed to suggest the moderating role of social enterprise clubs in this process to give implications for the long-term marketing of social enterprises. The results of this study are as follows. First, self-image consistency, functional correspondence, and value correspondence all have positive effects on the satisfaction of social enterprise and its products and form a loyalty. Secondly, whether or not the social enterprise club belonged to them is a moderating variable that raises sensitivity in the effects of self image consistency and functional consistency on customer satisfaction and customer satisfaction on loyalty.   • Background: The amount of smoking in adolescence increases with a younger age of smoking initiation and affects physical health. To establish and evaluate smoking-related policies, it is important to determine actual smoking status. Validation of self-reported questionnaires can identify the accuracy of the questionnaire data reflecting smoking status. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity of self-reported smoking status and identify factors affecting the accuracy of self-reported smoking in South Korean adolescents. Methods: This study investigated the consistency between cotinine concentrations and self-reported questionnaire data through the analysis of urine samples collected from 922 adolescents aged 13~18 among the participants of Cycle 3 of the Korean National Environmental Health Survey. Smoking status was classified using the cotinine cut-off point of 39.85 ㎍/L in adolescents, and factors affecting the accuracy were analyzed through multiple logistic regression analysis. Results: The smoking rates according to the self-reported questionnaire and cut-off point-based cotinine concentrations among adolescents were 3.1% and 5.1%, respectively. The results found 97.1% consistency between self-reported smokers and smokers according to cotinine concentration. Factors affecting the discrepancy showed a significant relationship, including gender, secondhand smoke, and use of e-cigarettes. Conclusions: The results can be used as basic data to establish a smoking policy for adolescents through continuous monitoring and improvement of questionnaire items of factors affecting the discrepancy.

3D Line Segment Extraction Based on Line Fitting of Elevation Data

  • In this paper, we are concerned with a 3D line segment extraction method by area-based stereo matching technique. The main idea is based on line fitting of elevation data on 2D line coordinates of ortho-image. Elevation data and ortho-image can be obtained by well-known area-based stereo matching technique. In order to use elevation in line fitting, the elevation itself should be reliable. To measure the reliability of elevation, in this paper, we employ the concept of self-consistency. We test the effectiveness of the proposed method with a quantitative accuracy analysis using synthetic images generated from Avenches data set of Ascona aerial images. Experimental results indicate that our method generates 3D line segments almost 7.5 times more accurate than raw elevations obtained by area-based method.

  • A stereo matching has been an important tool for reconstructing three dimensional terrain. By using stereo matching technique, DEM(Digital Elevaton Map) can be generated by the disparity from a reference image to a target image. Generally disparity map can be evaluated by matching the reference image to the target image and if the role of the reference and the target are interchanged, a different DEM can be obtained. In this paper, we propose a new fusion technique to estimate the optimal DEM by eliminating the false DEM due to occlusion. To detect the false DEM, we utilize two measure of accuracy: self-consistency and cross-correlation score. We test the effectiveness of the proposed methods with a quantitative analysis using simulated images. Experimental result indicate that the proposed methods show 24.4% and 33.1% improvement over either DEM.

  • This paper presents 3D line segment extraction method, which can be used in generating 3D rooftop model. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method shows average 30 line errors of .16 - .30 meters, which are about $10\%$ of the conventional area-based method.

  • Local self-governing bodies have created community identity to activate local communities. community identity is one of the very effective ways to establish a different image from other self-governing bodies and to raise locals' love of hometown and sense of belonging. In addition to community identity., there are several things to form identity such as symbols (like flowers, birds, and animals) of local self-governing bodies or characters visualizing figures, tradition, and specialties of the region. Recently local governments have introduced various programs such as brand planning like city brand, and local events. This study analyses the basic elements, like symbol mark, logotype, and color, among visual elements of the current local self-governing bodies community identity. and conducts a comparative analysis of the visual elements of symbols and characters. The results show that those community identities and other design elements lack differentiation and consistency among visual elements. To create differentiated image of local self-governing bodies, it needs to develop unique and various themes of the region and to generate synergy effect through consistency and interactions among various visual effects based on community identity.
