  • God created the havens and earth and god gave man every seed-bearing plant and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. These food Is all vegetable food that don't take diseases of adult people. But God gave Noah the green plants. Everything that lives and moves will be food for Noah. Just as God gave man the green plants. And then man must not eat meat (animal protein food) that has its lifeblood still in it and God must not eat fat in it. The fat contains much fat (saturated fatty acids) and cholesterol that have susceptibility to disease of coronary heart, hypertension and atheriosclerosis etc. God must not eat these fat before we don't know that It have susceptibility to disease of adult people.

  • Flower and fruit characteristics, in 'Hongro' and 'Galaxy Gala' apples, were investigated by bearing branch lengths and flower bud position such as blow 5 cm, $10{\sim}15cm$ and above 20 cm length with terminal bud, and above 20 cm length with axillary bud for investigation on possibility of alternative use of long bearing branch and axillary bud in case of die-back of spur flower bud. In flowering characteristics by flower bud position in the above 20 cm length, the terminal bud was later and was short in flowering period, and also was little in number of flower per bud. Fruit weight, number of seeds, and sugar-acid ratio, in characteristics of ripening fruit, were more the blow 5 cm and $10{\sim}15cm$ length, but soluble solid and malic acid contents was the opposite tendency. In fruit characteristics by flower bud position in the above 20 cm length, the terminal bud had high tendency expected far number of seed in 'Hongro' and Hunter a value of 'Galaxy Gala' apple but had not significant difference. Correlation between fruit weight and number of seed was high. As the results, value of alternative use of long bearing branch in apples had a little expected for fruit weight, especially was more 'Galaxy Gala' and the axillary bud.

  • This study was carried out to obtain the basic informations on the flowering habit, pollination patterns and seed setting in Hosta plantaginea Aschers. Flowers came out in the night with white color. Almost fertilization seemed to be out by wind in early and full flowering. But bearing pods by insects and fertilization rate by wind were increased by interval of flowering and particular scent slowly decreased in after flowering. Bearing pods and seeds setting rate were $65.0\%,\;40.9\%$ per peduncle after artificial pollination, and also $33.3\%,\;24.3\%$ in natural pollination, respectively. The flowering times was all around seven to eight o'clock at night and optimum temperature for pollination was $25{\sim}28^{\circ}C$.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the growth characters and yield components of 18 collected sesame cultivars to get basic information on the variation for the sesame breeding using principal component analysis. All characters except days to flowering, days to maturity and 1,000 seed weight showed significantly different. Seed weight per 10 are showed higher coefficient of variance. Capsule bearing stem length and liter weight showed positive correlation with seed yield per 10 are. The principal components analysis grouped the estimated sesame cultivars into four main components which accounted for 83.7% of the total variation at the eigenvalue and its contribution to total variation obtained from principal component analysis. The first principal component ($Z_1$) was applicable to increase plant height, capsule bearing stem length and 1,000-seed weight. The second principal component ($Z_2$) negatively correlated with days to flowering and maturity by which it was applicable to shorten flowering and maturity date of sesame. At the scatter diagram, Yangbaek, Ansan, M1, M2, M4, M7 and M9 were classified as same group, but M10, Yanghuk, Kanghuk, M5, M6, M12 and M13 were classified as different group. This results would be helpful for sesame breeder to understand genetic relationship of some agronomic characters and select promising cross lines for the development of new sesame variety.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the influence of lodging artificially induced and the lodging control of prop on seed yield and other important agronomic characters in sesame. At mono cropping with white polyethylene film mulching and after barley cropping with black polyethylene film mulching as main plot, with three varieties as sub plot and four lodging degree as sub-sub plot with three replications. Plant height was rather increased by the normal and severe lodging, whereas 1,000 seed weight, stem length bearing capsules and number of capsule per plant were significantly decreased. Consequently, yield reduction was resulted in lodging and normal plot as compare to that in lodging control with prop plot. Especially, high yielding in the prop treated was remarkable.

  • This study was conducted to determine the characteristics of fertilization process and embryo development of Astragalus membranaceus Bunge (Astragali Radix) to provide basic data needed in its breeding. A. membranaceus showed poor seed setting when self-pollination was induced. When artificial pollination was induced, it showed less than 5% bearing in late August, but more than 13% bearing from the beginning of September 4th. The flower size was about $17.0\;mm{\times}4.0\;mm$ and pistils and stamens had the same length of 15.0mm at flowering stage. When self-pollination or cross-pollination was induced, pollen tubes extended to an ovule. While pollen tube was extending to the ovule, reproductive cell split and formed two male generative nuclei and a vegetative nucleus. In the case of self-pollination, fertilized embryo was not observed, but was formed in the case of cross-pollination. A. membranaceus is noted to have zygote self-incompatibility. In the case of cross-pollination, fertilization was observed in 6 to 8 h after pollination, where apical cell derivatives split after fertilization. A spherical pro-embryo was then formed three days after fertilization. The seed attained full shape with a seed coat showing its distinctive contour 15 days after fertilization. Thus, A. membranaceus in Leguminosae family is found to have zygote selfincompatibility although its flower shape is shown to match the self-compatibility plant.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of early revegetation by analyzing the characteristics of germination and growth of Chrysanthemum zawadskii using vegetation-plant in rock slopes. After making up a growing basis of approximately 20-cm depth and 10-cm diameter by using a boring machine, the surface of rock slopes was planted with vegetation-plant. The number of germinating populations by soil media was 41 in H.s, 4 in T.s, 3 in M.s, and 0 in M.g.s. The germination rate (%) by soil media was 20.0% in H.s, 3.3% in T.s, 2.5% in M.s and 0% in M.g.s. In monthly changes of growth rate, the aspect was northwest direction, the soil media was H.s, and the treatment was microorganism plot. The main factors affecting survivorship and growth of population were soil media and treatment plot. The interaction between each factor had a good effects in bearing x treatment plot, soil media x treatment plot. but, it is recommended that the mulching of vegetation plant is highly needed to help the germination of seed and growth of vegetation because of loss of seed and soil media occurred due to rainfall. Therefore, The result suggests that the revegetation technique using boring in rock slope was very efficient in respect of the early revegetation and the landscape.

  • Berchemia berchemiaefolia is a native a native rare plant which has been designating as the Natural Monument, No. 266, since 1980. The floristic composition, population structure and maintenance mechanism of the Berchemia berchemiaefolia forest were investigated in conjunction with the habitat consisted of the block field or screes. Through the present study, the authors found a new habitat of Berchemia berchemiaefolia in the northeastern slope on Mt. Kumdansan located at Hajeok-ri, Cheongcheon-myeon, Koesan-gun, chungbuk province. Gravels consisted of the block field belonged to granule, pebble and cobble as the range of grain size, $\Phi$=-1.5~6.6 values. The tree layer of Berchemia berchemiaefolia community was mainly composed of Quercus variabilis, Pinus densiflora and Q. serrata including Berchemia berchemiaefolia and of this community were similar to that of Q. variabilis. By the age distribution, it was considered that the community was a discontinued one as the pattern of distribution was a normal distribution type(N type). Phenological cycle including leafing, blooming and seed-bearing period between both sites of block field and valley or close canopy showed some differences. The seed production of Berchemia berchemiaefolia was 8, 655, 000 seeds/ha/year, but only 406, 000 seeds/ha/year of them were developed as saplings, and only 4 saplings were developed to mature trees.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationships between yearly variation of climatic components and yearly variations of productivity in monoculture cotton. In addition, correlation coefficients among yield and yield components were estimated. The data of yield and yield components from the four varieties(Kinggus, Yongdang local. 113-4, 380) were collected from 1978 to 1992 in Mokpo area. The meteorological data gathered at the Mokpo Weather Station for the same period were used to find out the relationships between climatic components and productivity. Yearly variation of the amount of precipitation and number of stormy days in July are large with coefficients of the variations(C.V)84.89 and 97.05%, respectively, while yearly variation, of the average temperature, maximum temperature, minimum temperature from May to Sep. are relatively small. Seed cotton yield before frost in Sep. and Oct. very greatly with C.V. of 68.77, 78.52%, respectively. Number of boll bearing branches and lint percentage show more or less small in C.V. with 11.77 and 19.13%, respectively and flowering date and boll opening date show still less variation. Correlation coefficients between precipitation in May and number of boll bearing branches, duration of sunshine in July and number of bolls per plant, maximum temperature in July and total seed cotton before the frost in Sep., Oct., and Nov. evaporation in Aug. are positively sig-nificant at the 1% level. There are highly significantly positive correlated relationships among yield(total seed cotton) and yield components. Total seed cotton yield(Y) can be predicted by multiple regression equation with independent variables of climatic factors in July such as monthly averages of average temperature($X_1$), maximum temperature($X_2$) and minimum temperature($X_3$), monthly amount of precipitation ($X_4$), evaporation($X_5$), monthly average of relative humidity($X_6$), monthly hours with sunshine($X_7$) and number of rainy days($X_8$). The equation is estimatedas Y =-1080.8515 + 144.7133$X_1$+15.8722$X_2$ + 164.9367$X_3$ + 0.0802$X_4$ + 0.5932$X_5$ + 11.3373$X_6$ + 3.4683$X_7$- 9.0846$X_8$. Also, total seed cotton yield(Y) can be predicted by the same method with climatic components in Aug., Y =2835.2497 + 57.9134$X_1$ - 46.9055$X_2$ - 41.5886X$_3$ + 1.2559$X_5$ - 21.9687$X_6$ - 3.3763$X_7$- 4.1080$X_8$- 17.5586$X_9$. And the error between observed and theoretical yield were less with approached linear regression.
