  • We have investigated the luster of modified cross-sectional fiber fabrics as one of the essential quality estimates for clothing development. We have confirmed an objective evaluation method, and have determined the experimental luster characteristics of modified cross-section fibers. The cross-section of the fibers in a fabric affects the appearance of a textile. We used the image analysis method to investigate the luster to determine the critical factors influencing the appearance of modified cross-section fiber fabrics. For similarly structured textiles in a component fabric, clear differences were observed in the fabric weave, density, percentage, and total area of blobs, which is image region. Color played a decisive role in the luster of the textiles, and luster was not significantly influenced by the modified cross-section fabric weave. In addition, the degree of luster did not increase in the order plain to twill to satin for modified cross-sectional fiber fabrics. All the split-type microfibers exhibited higher numerical luster values (percentage of pixels, and number and total area of blobs) than sea-island microfibers did. The degree of luster of the modified cross-sectional fiber fabrics was not high at specular reflection angles.

  • This study aims to calculate reliable sectional travel speeds with the consideration of the characteristics of the probe data collected in the interrupted traffic flow. First, in order to analysis the characteristics of the probe data, we looked into the distribution of the sectional travel times of each probe vehicle and compared the difference in the sectional travel speeds of each probe vehicle collected by DSRC. As a result, it is shown that outliers should be removed for the distribution of the sectional travel times. However, The comparison results show that the sectional travel speeds from the DSRC probe vehicles are not significantly different. Finally, based on the distribution characteristics of the sectional travel speeds of each probe vehicle and the representative values counted during a collection period, we drew the optimal outlier removal procedure and evaluated the estimation errors. The evaluation results showed that the DSRC sectional travel speeds were found to be similar to the observed values from actually running vehicles. On the contrary, in the case of the sectional travel speeds of intra-city bus, it was analyzed that they were less accurate than the DSRC sectional travel speeds. In the future, it will be necessary to improve BIS process and make use of the travel information on intra-city buses collected in real time to find various ways of applying it as traffic information.

  • An analysis of railroad industry has been insufficient whereas there are lots of analysis of accumulation of technology, economic performances and ripple effects for macroscopic view and other industry of R&D investments. This study decided intellectual rights, patent, and paper as common indicators of scientific and technological performances for setting up performance targets through surveying and analysis of preceding study and verified a appropriateness of scientific and technological performances for railroad R&D 11 projects which were successfully finished. Preceding study has been set up performance targets by research investments as input, but this study made a performance target by model through a cross-sectional and residual analysis of performances of railroad R&D 11 Projects in applying research investments, capital investments and inner labor cost per man and research time as inputs, and verified a validity and a empirical analysis through analysis of other project.

  • The double composite box girder is a structural system filled with concrete at the bottom of the steel box in the negative moment region increasing the flexural strengths. Flexural strengths of the double composite steel box girders are investigated through a series of the experimental tests and the numerical analysis. The experimental tests are performed on the three kinds of steel box girders with the different concrete depths including loom, 15cm, and 20cm. Moment-curvature relations are calculated based on the sectional analysis method describing the nonlinear natures of concrete and steel. In the finite element analysis the nonlinear nature of concrete is described based on the three dimensional four-parameter constitutive model recently developed and that of steel is described based on von Mises failure criterion. The ultimate flexural capacities of the box girders predicted using sectional analysis and finite element analysis show good agreement with those of the experiments.

  • An analytical method to predict the flexural behavior of composite girder is presented in which the early-age properties of concrete are specified including maturing of elastic modulus, creep and shrinkage. The time dependent constitutive relation accounting for the early-age concrete properties is derived in an incremental format by expanding the total form of stress-strain relation by the first order Taylor series with respect to the reference time. The sectional analysis calculates the axial and curvature strains based on the force and moment equilibriums. The deflection curve of the box girder approximated by the quadratic polynomial function is calculated by applying to the proper boundary conditions in the consecutive segments. Numerical applications are made for the 3-span double composite steel box girders which is a composite bridge girder filled with concrete at the bottom of the steel box in the negative moment region. The one dimensional finite element analysis results are compared with those of the three dimensional finite element analysis and the analytical method based on the sectional analysis. Close agreement is observed among the three methods.

  • On wide variety of fields, studies on active twist control are becoming more active. For effective twist control, blades have to have low torsional stresses with high torsional deformations to the same magnitude of torque acting on its cross-section. In this study, 2D sectional analysis and 3D finite element analysis were made for 5 different blades with each having different cross - sections which have different spars. The results from 2D sectional analysis, were then put into 3D blade deformation and stress calculations which lead to analysis. Outcomes from 2D and 3D analysis, showed that on the same torque and concentrated load conditions, the blade with 'C' shaped spar was the best of all the blades which were used in this study.

  • With the goal of ensuring the safety of wheelchair users, this study was conducted using finite element analysis, focusing on the development of a platform that can be used to evaluate safety during the design stage. Safety evaluation criteria for wheelchairs used in vehicles are defined in ANSI/RESNA WC19 and ISO 7176-19. Based on these standards, finite element analysis was performed to assess the sectional forces of each component of the wheelchair and sensitivity analysis was conducted based on the specifications. These results were used to derive equivalent composite loads for the wheelchair's main components, determine the necessary sectional specifications for these main components in the wheelchair design phase, and investigate the process of safety assessment verification. The study showed that member forces vary with changes in the cross-sectional values of the wheelchair frame's main components, with the front and rear lower members, as well as the rear upper and lower members, requiring the highest cross-sectional values for safety design. This study offers a proactive method for evaluating safety in the wheelchair design stage, and in future research, we plan to develop a safety evaluation platform based on these results.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide data for development of the Journal of Fundamentals of Nursing through reviewing classification of sectional editorship. Method: Descriptive statistical analysis was used, to identify content then, the classifications of sectional editorship were reviewed. Results: The categories, "Basic concepts of nursing" (30.2%:17.9%), "Needs for comfort" (15.9%:13.1%), "Nursing education" (12.7%:12.7%), and "Needs for activity and exercise" (7.1%:7.1%) were most frequent through both the 1st and 2nd sectional editorship. Conclusion: Classification of sectional editorship was developed to clarify the educational purpose of fundamentals of nursing, and was modified through reflections by researchers. The current classification of sectional editorship is not a permanent formula, so using various viewpoints in further examination is needed.

  • This paper presented the theory related to a two dimensional linear cross-sectional analysis, recovery relationship and a one-dimensional nonlinear beam analysis for composite beam with initial twist and high aspect ratio. Using VABS including related theory, preceding research data of the composite wing structure has been modeled and compared. Cross-sectional analysis was performed and 1-D beam was modeled at cutting point including all the details of real geometry and material. The 3-D strain distribution and margin of safety at recovery point was calculated based on the global behavior of the 1-D beam analysis and visualize numerical results.

  • This paper tries to estimate price and quality effects in US cross - sectional fisheries demand analysis using 1987-88 Nationwide Food Consumption Survey Data. The estimated results support to the hypothesis of quality effects in cross - sectional prices, which had been already proven by Cox and Wohlgenant(1986). But Since all zero observations for the respective incomes, expenditures and quantities are eliminated for the ease of computation, it may yield inconsistent estimates from selectivity bias.
