Lesson plan sheets were collected from letter communication of each local junior and senior high school as well as from literature. These lesson plan sheets were arranged and investigated for items of constituent element and types. The results were summarized as follows. 1. The organization of plans were constituted of three frames as early plan, unit plan, and hour plan. 2. The lecture and inquiry types among the collected lesson plan sheets showed 91.9% and 8.3% in junior high school as well as 87.9% and 3% in senior high school, respectively. The mixed types did not find out in junior high school, however the mixed types showed 9.1%in senior high school. 3. The items of constituent elements in lesson plan sheets were varied by the contents and the kinds of teaching unit in science education of secondary school.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the factor for improving elementary and secondary students' positive experiences about science (PES). In-depth interviews with 32 students and 8 teachers from 8 elementary and secondary Science Core schools were conducted to explore the factors for improving the student's PES. The analysis of the results reveal that the eight key factors which had a decisive impact on a student's PES were 'practice-centered exploratory activities', 'student-led class', 'positive and professional feedback', 'construction of knowledge through exploration', 'class considering student's interest and aptitude', 'use of materials related to real life', 'smooth communication and collaboration in group activities', and 'appropriate difficulty in learning content'. There were also five environmental factors that affected these key factors: 'teacher's professionalism for science classes', 'science class environment', 'teacher community in unit schools', 'change in curriculum', and 'scientific activities other than regular classes'. Based on these results, the practical implications for improving the student's PES are suggested.
This study set out to investigate the challenges to science teacher's teaching practices in the Anglophone sub-system of education in Cameroon secondary schools. A sample of 331 of these teachers was selected using the purposive sampling method. Data was collected by use of a questionnaire and was subjected to inferential analysis. The major findings from the multiple regression were challenges associated with the size and management of a science class have an effect on the teaching practices of a science teacher. However, challenges with availability of instructional resources did not have an effect on science teaching practices. Recommendations to solve the identified drawbacks include the provision of more classrooms to accommodate the ever growing population of students and the organization of many seminars through which teachers could be educated on how to handle classroom problems and improvise when necessary.

The curriculum of science should be made of the education based on the acquirement instead of the knowledge. However, the present educational environment has many problems such as lack of laboratory and experimental facilities, and time limitations. One of the suggested methods to overcome the barriers in regular curriculum is the efficient operation of science club activities. Since the club activities are not restricted on time and space, teachers can apply various methods and programs. In this paper, we investigate the present operational status of science club activities in secondary school and some suggested improvement schemes of them It is shown that teacher training, reference development, time allocation, educational environment, facility completion and various program developments should be preceded, in order to activate science club activities.
The purpose of this study was to survey the secondary science teachers' viewpoints of basic particles conceptions addressed in science course. The first content of this study was to analyze the secondary science teachers conceptions related to basic particles founded on scientific history viewpoints. The second content was to investigate their understanding of relations between atom, element, and molecule concepts. The third content was to search the factors influenced on basic particles conceptions of science teachers. For this study, 96 secondary science teachers were selected. The data of this study were collected through a questionnaire developed for this study and were analysed using the method of constant comparative analysis. The results showed that their viewpoints towards basic particles were similar to each other regardless of their majors and their conceptions belonged to the past viewpoints. The teachers lacked linking understand among basic particles conceptions because they applied different viewpoints on different problems. Most of the teachers were influenced on science textbooks, guidebooks for teachers, and reference books to form confusing viewpoints of basic particles.

The Change of environment related to human life, science, technology, economics and education level have much effect on home life. Therefore Home Economics Education have to get out of past trite concept that it is only a method to become good housewife and take the role to widen the human life and to grow creative power as a academic part of science. For these, Home Economics should become life education, life education of secondary school has to have relation to lifelong education. To achieve effective result from Home Economics Education, the object, system and methods of Home Economics Education, the object, system and methods of Home Economics Education have to be improved and teaching material has to be studied systematically. As an object of aboves and education planning in clothing is made for deep understanding the study of Home Economics Teaching Material. And to understand the real state, made some questions, had interview with 63-teaching in Kangweon province and show the results. 1) Tab 1~20 are the level of recognition about object, teaching content, time structure of secondary school. The object is recognized as cultural education and basic job education. 2) Tab 21~30 show the real state of textbook and study of it. To take effect from school lecture other teaching material except textbook is required. 3) Tab 31~40 are the result of sewing and handicraft practice. Sewing and handicraft needs much time and almost all time is used in practicing. 4) Tab 42~54 are the planning of textbook study for effective teaching, self-estimation and teaching material making is also considered. All above is collarless blouse’s planning. Base on above result, all objects of clothing life should be teached. For the development of Home Economics Education 1) Understanding and affection of teachers is required. 2) To solve indicated problem, national policy, education plan in school and education finance are fully supported. 3) More studies is required in Home Economics Education.

The purpose of the study is to compare the learning contents of theme acids and bases that are commonly dealed with in elementary, middle and high schools m Korea and to investigate the acid-base-concepts of secondary students. The results of the study were as follows: 1) Many students did not have an interest in the chemistry and they pointed out the necessity of many experiments and practices and its application to the practical life. 2) It is found that most of textbooks used in the elementary school are written to make the students have an interest in the science through the experiments and pratices. However the textbooks used in the secondary school are too theoretically written so that many students are likely to lose the interests in the chemistry. 3) Although students had already learned Arrhenius's acid-base-concept, many students tried to solve the question with Liebig's theory as a acid-base-concept. This misconception might be caused by learning by cramming and teaching too theoretically. Accordingly, it is necessary that the education of science is carried out to make the students have an interest in the science by providing the students with the much more experiments and practices and also applying it to the practical life.

This study was conducted to examine my hypothesis that how teacher's teaching style influences emotional and physiological states of students in the secondary school science classroom. Sixty healthy secondary school students were participated in this study and divided into two groups: manipulation and non-manipulation. Each group underwent different styles of teaching on the scientific hypothesis-generating of com starch experiment. Before and after the class, the strength of emotion was measured using adjective emoticon check lists and they extracted their saliva sample for salivary hormone analysis. Here are the results of this study. First, the intensity of positive emotions in the manipulation group was significantly stronger than the one in the non-manipulation group, whereas the intensity of negative emotions in the non-manipulation group was significantly stronger than the one in the manipulation group. Second, the cortisol level, an indicator of stress, was decreased in the manipulation group whereas it was increased in non-manipulation group. Third, the quality of scientific hypotheses which is generated by students during the class had no connection with types of instructions. Fourth, this study found significantly negative correlation between students' emotional intensity of interest and concentration changes of salivary cortisol. Therefore, the different teaching styles have influence upon students' attitude and interest in science.

The purpose of this study was to survey secondary school science teachers' teaching styles and to recognize students' science anxiety about science teachers' different teaching styles. One hundred seventy-four science teachers and 2,122 students participated. The teaching style questionnaire and the science anxiety measurement scale (SAMS) with teaching style were administered to teachers and students, respectively. Teaching styles were analyzed in terms of teacher's individual variables, such as gender and school level. The science anxiety related to each teaching style was analyzed and compared in terms of students' gender and school level. The results were as follows. First, the secondary school science teachers were classified into four types based on their teaching styles: expert, provider, facilitator and enabler. Most teachers fell under the expert style category and the least under enabler style. This indicated that numerous science teachers in secondary school employ a teacher-directed style rather than a student-centered style in class. Second, students felt the highest science anxiety with experts and the lowest science anxiety with enablers. The students' science anxiety showed statistically significant differences with different teaching styles (p<.05). Even though female students felt higher science anxiety than male students towards all four teaching styles, no statistically significant gender differences were found. Middle school students were more influenced by teaching style than high school students. Some suggestions were made for teachers to reduce students' science anxiety in classes based on results.

In 1987 Ministry of Education published the 5th-revised version of curriculm, the main goal of which is to improve science and culture as well as to educate the students who are able to actively adapt to the 21st century's society. Howerver, the revised curriculum neglects the problems associated with the nature of and localized characteristics of science education. Therefore this research had its main objective to survey and analyze the status of science education of secondary schools in Kangwon Province and, based on the results, to develop the teaching/learning materials appropriate for science education in this province. This research is 3d-Year project and this paper is about its first year research results. The first year's main objective is to investigate and analyze the status of middle school science education, focusing on the curricular operation, science teachers, and lavoratory facilities and instruments. This research used the survey methods. The questionaires were sent to all the middle schools the number of which is 163, and 162 schools of which returned the survey questionaires. Based on the analyses of the data following conclusions were drawn. The average class size is 48.8 students. Almost all of the middle schools alocate the science class hours per week of 4,3,4 hours to first, second, third grade, respectively. However, the greater part of science teachers want 5,4,5 hours of science classes a week. Total number of science teachers exeeds the number actually needed, implicating that many science teachers are teaching non-major subjects. The lavoratory facilities and instruments are not sufficiently provided for lavoratory-based science education. Along with these conclusinons suggestions for better science educations are recommanded. Among the suggestions two are highly emphasized. They are: to increase science class hours; to use field lavoratory substituting for school lavoratory.
