제주도 활엽수림에 서식하는 초파리의 계절에 따른 변동과 수직 미분포 (Seasonal Fluctuation and Vertical Microdistribution of Drosophilid Flies Dwelling in the Broad-Leaved Forests on Cheju-Do (Quelpart Island)*)

  • 제주도 자연림에 서식하는 초파리 군집구조를 파악하기 위하여 19954년 5월부터 10월까지 두 곳의 자연림에서 초파리를 채집하고, 이들의 종 수도와 미수직분포의 계절적 변이를 조사하였다. 전체적으로 우점종은 Drosophila bizonata, D. curviceps, D. lutescens, D. angu leris, D. tsigana and D. immigrans in the annual collections 등 6종이었다. 이들 우점종의 계절적 변화 양상은 두 조사지에서 유사했다. 종다양성의 계절적 변동은 종풍부도(종수)보다는 균등도의 영향을 더 받는 것으로 나타났으며, 모든 우점종의 수도에서 계절적 변동은 단일 장점을 갖는 양상을 보였다. 우점종의 일부는 미수직 분포에서 두 조사지간에 차이를 나타냈다. 이러한 결과들은 수림에 서식하는 우점종들의 생식 시기를 달리함으로써 생태학적 지위의 중복을 피하며, 이드르ㅣ 미수직분포는 계절과 고도 차이에 따른 요인에 많은 영향을 받고 있음을 암시한다.

Seasonal Variation of Volume Transport through the Straits of the East/Japan Sea Viewed from the Island Rule

  • Among others, a question that has long been unanswered is why the seasonal variation of volume transport is larger in the Soya and Korea/Tsushima Straits than in the Tsugaru Strait. An attempt is made to answer this question in terms of the island rule with friction being taken into account. The problem is idealized as a simple model. The model results indicate that volume transport through a channel is determined not only by the circulation created around the adjacent island but also by those created around the neighboring islands farther away. The latter is due to the presence of bottom friction in the channels. The volume transports through the Korea/Tsushima, Tsugaru and Soya Straits estimated from the model using observed wind data show the general pattern of observed seasonality, although they contain large errors associated with the uncertain frictional parameter employed in the model. The model indicates that the observed seasonality arises essentially from the fact that wind stress curl changes its sign, from negative in the summer to positive in winter, following a large fluctuation of zero-stress curl latitude east of Hokkaido.

Seasonal Variation in Contents of Sugars in Different Parts of Broccoli

  • Seasonal variation in the contents of sugars (fructose, glucose, and sucrose) in the floret, leaf, and stem of broccoli were studied in ten commercial broccoli cultivars. Plants were grown in the spring and fall seasons in 2011. In both seasons, glucose was the major constituent, comprising about 50% of the total sugar content in the floret and leaf tissue of most cultivars, whereas the broccoli stem showed an unusual pattern of accumulation. Sucrose exhibited greater cultivar dependency as well as seasonal variation compared to fructose and glucose in floret and leaf tissues. The floret tissue had a higher total content of sugar in the spring compared to the fall due to an increase in glucose and fructose. However, most of the leaf and stem tissues of broccoli had a higher total sugar content in the fall compared to the spring. Furthermore, stem and leaf tissues possessed a relatively higher total sugar content compared to floret tissue in both seasons. 'Grandeur' broccoli contained a significantly greater amount of total sugar in both floret and leaf tissues in both seasons, whereas 'YuDoRi No.1' broccoli exhibited the highest total content of sugar in stem tissue. At overall, the results showed significant influences of genotype, plant part and growing season on sugar content in broccoli.

  • 한국주변 192개 정점 표층 300m의 15년간(1961~1975) 격월 수온자료를 사용하여 해양이 보유(방출)하는 영량의 계절적인 변동을 추정하였다. 동해에서는 100m 이내의 표층에서 계절적인 열의 보관과 방출이 일어나며, 수심이 얕은 서해와 남해에서는 거의 전 수심에 걸쳐서 계절적인 열보유량 변동의 연교차는 서해와 동해가 비슷하나, 열보유량 변동은 표면수온에 비하여 연주기 위상이 1내지 3개월 늦다. 해류와 계절풍에 의한 열이송으로 인하여 한국주변 해양 저열량의 시간적 변화의 연진폭은 태양복사에너지의 연진폭보다 훨씬 크다.

Chemical Composition and Seasonal Variation of Acid Deposition in Chiang Mai, Thailand

  • This study aims to determine the chemical composition and seasonal variation of atmospheric acid deposition in order to identify possible sources contributing to precipitation. Sampling and analysis of 132 wet deposition samples were carried out from January to December 2008 at Mae Hia Research Center, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai Province. Total precipitation was 1,286.7 mm. Mean electro-conductivity and pH values were 0.94 mS/m and 6.27, respectively. Major cations ($Na^+$, ${NH_4}^+$, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Mg^{2+}$) and major anions ($HCOO^-$, $CH_3COO^-$, $Cl^-$, ${NO_3}^-$, and ${SO_4}^{2-}$) were determined by Ion Chromatography. The relative volume weight mean concentrations of anions, in descending order, were ${SO_4}^{2-}$ > ${NO_3}^-$ > $Cl^-$ > $CH_3COO^-$ > $HCOO^-$ and those of cations were $NH_4^+$ > $Ca^{2+}$ > $Mg^{2+}$ > $K^{+}$ > $Na^+$. Results of a principle component analysis highlighted the influence of various possible sources of ions such as agricultural activity, fuel combustion, marine sources, soil resuspension, and biomass burning.

  • In this study, the seasonal and inter-annual variation of sea surface current in the Gulf of Thailand were revealed through the use of WOD temperature and salinity data and monthly sea surface dynamic heights (SSDH) from TOPEX/Poseidon and ERS-2 altimetry data during 1995-2001. The mean dynamic height and mean geostrohic current were derived from the climatological data while SSDH data gave monthly dynamic heights and their geopstrophic currents. The mean geostrophic current showed strong southward and westward flow of South China Sea water along the gulf entrance. Counterclockwise eddy in the inner gulf and the western side of the gulf entrance associated with upwelling in the area. Seasonal geostrophic currents show basin-wide counterclockwise circulation during the southwest monsoon season and clockwise circulation during the northeast monsoon season. Upwelling was enhanced during the southwest monsoon season. The circulation patterns varied seasonally and inter-annually probably due to the variation in wind regime. And finally we found that congregation, spawning, and migration routes of short-bodied mackerel conform well with coastal upwelling and surface circulation in the gulf.

한국 서해 천수만의 화학적 수질특성과 부영양화 (Chemical Characteristics and Eutrophication in Cheonsu Bay, West Coast of Korea)

  • Temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, COD, dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN), dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP), and chlorophyll were measured in the surface and bottom waters of Cheonsu Bay in April, August, December 2003, and Hay 2004. DIN showed a large seasonal variation, with higher values in summer and lower in spring. The significant decrease in DIN concentration was observed from April to May, which may imply the occurrence of spring phytoplankton bloom sometime in these periods. In contrast, DIP did not show distinct seasonal variation, with relatively low values compared with other coastal regions. The low DIP concentration in Cheonsu Bay is ascribed to a limited phosphorus input around Cheonsu Bay. The Nf ratios of Cheonsu Bay much higher than the Redfield ratio(16) in all season indicate that phytoplankton growth is limited by phosphorus. Based on low chlorophyll concentrations and eutrophication index, Cheonsu Bay has not been in eutrophic condition during our observation periods. In the artificial lakes located around Cheonsu Bay, however, chlorophyll concentrations were very high, mostly over $10{\mu}g\;l^{-1}$, indicating that they are now in severe eutrophic condition.

도시대기 입자상물질중 수용성 성분의 농도와 입경분로의 계절적 변동 (Seasonal variation of concentration and size distribution of Ionic species on aerosol in urban air)

  • Measurement of concentration and size distribution of TSP, ammonium, nitrate and sulfate were made from Mar., 1991. to June., 1992 in Seoul. The seasonal variation of concentration and size distribution of aerosols has been investiated. Aerosol were collected and size frationated by Andersen air sampler. Size classified samples were extrated with deionized water and analyzed for ammonium, nitrate and sulfate by ion chromatography. As the results of measurement, the average of concentration and MMAD(mass median aerodynamic diameter) were $118.58 \mu g/m^3$, and $2.77 \mu m$ for TSP, $1.92 \mu g/m^3$ and $1.35 \mu m$ for ammonium, $1.34 \mu g/m^3$ and $1.58 \mu m$ for nitrate, $8.52 \mu g/m^3$ and $2.15 \mu m$ for sulfate. The Seasonal variation of concentration and size distribution was observed for ammonium, nitrate and sulfate. The concentration peak of TSP was observed in coarse particles in spring and observed in fine particles in winter. The concentration's distribution of TSP, ammonium, nitrate and sulfate was observed bimodal type during all season.

계절에 따른 참죽나무잎 Flavonoid 화합물의 변화 분석 (Seasonal Variation of Flavonoid Contents in the Leaves of Cedrela sinensis)

  • 참축나무잎 flavonoid들을 column chromatography로서 분리하여 HPLC를 이용하여 화합물을 분석하고 주성분인 quercitrin 및 afzelin을 계절별로 채집, 함유량을 정량하였다. 참죽나무잎 중의 flavonoid는 주 성분인 quercitrin은 채집 초기인 5월을 시작으로 증가되다가 7월과 8월에 7.94, 8.89%로서 최대치에 달하며 9월 부터 감소하는 경향을 보였다. Afzelin의 함유량도 6월에 0.12%로서 최고조에 달하며 7, 8월에 0.09, 0.08%로 많은 양을 함유하다가 가을철인 9월 부터 점점 감소함을 관찰할 수 있다. 따라서 참죽나무잎의 flavonoid 함유량은 여름에 최고조로 달하며 동일나무에서 그의 함량은 일정하지 않고 계절에 따라 변화함을 관찰할 수 있다.

여수연안 정치망 어획물의 종조성과 계절변동 (Seasonal Variation of Abundance and Species Composition of Fishes Caught by a Set Net in the Coastal Waters off Yosu, Korea)

  • Fishes were caught by a set net in the coastal waters off Yosu, Korea from April to October, 2001, and seasonal variation of abundance and species composition were studied. Fifty two species were identified as fish $(89\%)\;cephalopods\;(10\%)\;and\;crustaeans\;(1\%).$ Of the fishes Engraulis japonicus, Trachurus japonicus and Trichiurus lepturus were dominant species representing $64.1\%$ in total number of individuals. The number of species was high in spring and low in summer; number of individuals was high in spring and low in autumn. The diversity index (H') was 0.4-0.7 The abundance and species composition fluctuated seasonally. Occurrence of the various stages of fishes indicated that Scombia japonicus, T. japonicus and E japonicus utilized in the area as spawning ground, Conger myriaster larvae, Ammodytes personatus and Seriola quinqueradiata as nursery ground, and T. lepturus and Ilisha elongata as spawning and nursery grounds.
