  • This paper introduces basic research of optimum routing assessment system as voyage support purpose which can obtain safe and efficient route. In view point of safety, the prediction of ship motion should be evaluated in the condition of rough weather This part includes general seakeeping estimation based on 3 dimensional panel method and parametric roil prediction. For increasing voyage efficiency, ETA(Estimated Time of Arrival) and fuel consumption should be calculated considering speed reduction and power increase due to wave effects based on added resistance calculation and ship performance characteristics. Basically, the weather forecast is assumed to be prepared previously to operate this system. The idea of these factors in this system will be helpful to escape from dangerous voyage situation by wave conditions and to make optimum route planning based on ETA and fuel consumption.

  • The Korean e-Navigation system is a Korean approach to correspond with implementation of IMO e-Navigation. It provides five services, among them SV20 service, a ship remote monitoring system that collects and processes sensor information related to fire, navigation, and seakeeping performance safety. The system also detects abnormal conditions such as fires, capsizing, sinking, navigation equipment failure during navigation, and calculates the safety index and determines the emergency level. According to emergency level, it provides appropriate emergency response guidance for the onboard operator. The fire safety module is composed of three sub-modules; each module is the safety index sub-module, the emergency level determination sub-module and emergency response guidance sub-module. In this study, operational concept of the fire safety module in SV20 service is explained, and fire safety assessment factors are estimated, to calculate the fire safety index. Fire assessment factors included 'Fire detector position factor,' 'Smoke diffusion rate factor,' and 'Fire-fighting facilities factor.'

  • This paper treats optimal route safety assessment system at seaway based on weather forecasting data through INMARSAT. Since early times, captain have been sailing to select the optimum route considering the weather, ship loading status condition and operational scheduling empirically. However, it is rare to find digitalized onboard route support system whereas weather facsimile or wave and swell chart are utilized for the officer, based on captain's experience. In this paper, optimal route safety assessment system which is composed of voyage efficiency and safety component is introduced. Optimum route minimized ETA(estimated time of arrival) and fuel consumption that shipping company. and captain are requiring to evaluate for efficient voyage considering speed loss and power increase based on wave added resistance of ship. In the view point of safety, seakeeping prediction is performed based on 3 dimensional panel method Basically, the weather forecast is assumed to be prepared previously in order to operate this system.

  • In this research, experimental seakeeping results of Warped hull form 2 on the regular waves were compared with numerical results of strip method and CFD. In case of ship's speed, there are 3 cases (3.4m/s, 4.6m/s, 5.75m/s) for numerical simulation, and they are belong to semi-planing and planing condition. Consequently, in case of strip method, it is shown that the resonance phenomena occurred from around ${\lambda}/L_{OA}=2$ to 4 and RAO value were significantly higher than that of other. this is different from experimental results. In case of CFD, overall trends were similar with experimental values except there are somewhat excessive RAO values around ${\lambda}/L_{OA}=0.5$ to 2.5. these phenomena is confirmed that it became larger as the ship's speed increased, and it was considered that the error occurred because the number of mesh in vertical direction of wave height at ${\lambda}/L_{OA}=0.5$ to 2.5 were relatively less than those of wave height at ${\lambda}/L_{OA}=2.5$ to 5.2.
