생태계 모델을 이용한 갯벌의 수질정화능력 산정 (Estimation of Ability for Water Quality Purification Using Ecological Modeling on Tidal Flat)

  • It has been known that shallow-water regions, such as tidal flats, sea grass and sea weed beds have water purification capability, and they also serve as nursery grounds for many fishes. On the other hand, tidal flat areas are economically attractive sites for reclamation, to be used for developing industries. When developing shallow-water areas, we have to propose a plan to mitigate the environmental impact associated with such a development plan. However, it is difficult to estimate the affects on the ecosystem and water purification, and the literature related to this matter is insufficient. In order to evaluate the ability of coastal tidal flat and to predict the future changes, it is necessary to develop a reliable prediction technique and construction of data by using a field investigation. In this study, we carried out a numerical model test for the tidal flat ecosystem, using the pelagic system and the benthic system, simultaneously, in order to show a change in the tidal flat ecosystem. The flow of nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon has been identified as a primary consideration of marine ecosystem components, and the capability of water purification and the change of the tidal flat were predicted using this flow. In order to make a more reliable prediction, a field investigation to determine tide, current and creatures of the object coastal area has been done. The purification capability of this shallow-water region is estimated from the model results. According to the results of experiments, the tidal flat has a capability of water purification (Sink) of 11mgN/m2/day, but the other area has a load (Source) of 20mgN/m2/day. As a result, we could confirm that the tidal flat of an object coastal area plays an important role in water purification.

하구에 형성된 소규모 모래톱의 수질정화 기능에 관한 기초적 연구 (An Experimental Basic Study of Water Purification Function due to Spit in Small Estuary)

  • This study is intended to examine the relationship between the magnitude of sand spit in the estuary of the stream and improvement of the quality of water that flaws into the sea, by means of hydraulic experimentation. In order to determine the effect of improvements of water quality when river flow is stagnant, the estuary flows into the sea through the small sand spit, and a two-dimensional physical model experiment was carried out. Distribution of concentration was decreased in response to an increase in length of sand spit and time. The experimental results are compared with theoretical results, based on the solution of the equation. Also, there are functions of influx prevention of salt wedge and purification of pollution water due to sand spit in small estuary.

패류 가공에 관한 연구 1. 개량조개 Mactra Sulcataria REEVE의 토사 배출에 대하여 (STUDIES ON THE SHELLFISH PROCESSING 1. Purification of the Surf Clam Mactra sulcataria REEVE for the Remove of Sand)

  • 살아 있는 개량조개 속에 들어 있는 토사의 배출에 대하여 실험한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 토사는 주로 입수관 및 출수관 주변, 아가미 주변, mantle주변 그리고 중장선을 위시한 소화 기관 속에 존재하였다. 그리고 소화기관 속에 들어 있는 모래의 크기는 $180\times10\mu\~550\times200\mu$정도의 극히 작은 것들이었다. 2) 시료를 밑바닥에 깔아 놓은 것과 중간층에 수하시킨 것 그리고 단층으로 깔든지 또는 수하시킨 것과 두껍게 깔든지 또는 수하시킨 것 사이에 토사의 배출에 있어 뚜렷한 차이는 찾아 볼 수 없었다. 3) 개량조개는 처음 1시간 정화시키면 약 $50\%$의 토사를 배출하며, $22\~26$ 시간만에 배출물의 양이 거의 일정한 값에 도달하지만, 배출물 속에 토사가 배출되지 않을 때까지는 약 42시간 소요되었다. 4) 토사의 배출에 미치는 PH의 영향을 보면 개량조개가 살고 있는 환경 해수보다 약 1정도 높은 쪽(pH 8.75)이 빨랐다. 5) 토사의 배출에 미치는 온도의 영향은 개량조개가 살고 있는 환경 해수의 온도 때가 온도를 더 높였을 때보다 토사의 배출이 빨랐다. 6) 토사의 배출에 미치는 염분 농도의 영향은 개량조개가 살고 있는 환경 해수의 염분 농도($30.61\%_{\circ}$)보다 약 배로 묽은 쪽($15.14\%_{\circ}$)이 배출이 빨랐다.

RESULTS OF OBSERVATION IN HABITAT OF THE SANBANNSE LAGOON AT TOKYO BAY

  • The sea water and the soil of surface zone in lagoon have many physical relations between each other by both physical phenomena such as tidal motion and wave action, and activity of a creature which lives in soil zone. The soil zone has an activity of filtering the sea water at lowering tide and also the organic materials in sea water are supplied into the soil. And small creatures such as small crab eat organic materials. Usually the surface zone of lagoon becomes under the sea water in two times of a day and also is coming in two times under the sunshine and it becomes dries up conditions. Authors made the field observation at Sanbannse lagoon in Tokyo bay in several times between 2002 to 2004. The observation has been done in a half period of tide in October and November 2002 and also full tide observation is made in July 2, 2003 in summer and November 26, 2003 in autumn. In 2004, three times observations of full tide has been made in three times as June 22, July 20 and December 14. This report is the summary of results on these observations focusing on the soil surface zone and sea water at under ground and wave breaking zone.

해양심층수 관련 국내 특허출원 동향 (Current Status of Applied Korean Patents Regarding the Deep Sea Water)

  • Deep sea water exists at depths of over 200m under the sea. As no sunlight reaches it, photosynthesis does not take place within it, and it contains no organic matter. In addition, its temperature is maintained at a stable low level throughout the year, so it does not get mixed with the sea water on the surface. It contains a large amount of nutritious salts, whose cleanness is maintained. It is a marine resource that has matured for a long period of time. Research into deep sea water, which started in the 1970s, has been made around the whole world, including the USA and Japan. In Korea, research has been active in this area since 2000. As there has been a good amount of research into industrial applications for deep sea water, since 1993, patents for the relevant technologies have been applied. This paper intends to provide a resource to researchers of deep sea water, by summarizing of all domestic deep sea water-related patents applied with Korean Intellectual Property Office from 1993 to 2008. This research was conducted using a computer and KIPRIS Database owned by the Korea Institute of Patent Information. 'Deep sea water' was used as the search keyword. A total of 222 Korean patents relating to deep sea water have been registered on the basis of IPC. Of these, 126 patents relate to the manufacturing and the treatment of foods, foodstuffs, or non-alcoholic beverages(A23L), while 50 patents relate to the production for medical, dental, or cosmetic purposes(A61K). 38 patents relate to water purification, treatment of wastewater, sewage and sludge (C02F), while 8 patents relate to fishery and farming(A01K). In summary, it was found that studies for the practical use of deep sea water have been conducted in relation to the manufacturing and the treatment of foods, foodstuffs, beverages, and cosmetics.

Purification, Characterization and Application of a Cold Active Lipase from Marine Bacillus cereus HSS

  • Lipases (triacylglycerol acylhydrolases [EC 3.1.1.3]) are water-soluble enzymes. They catalyze the hydrolysis of fats and oils. A cold-active lipase from marine Bacillus cereus HSS, isolated from the Mediterranean Sea, Alexandria, Egypt, was purified and characterized. The total purification depending on lipase activity was 438.9 fold purification recording 632 U/mg protein. The molecular weight of the purified lipase was estimated to be 65 kDa using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The optimum substrate concentration, enzyme concentration, pH, and temperature were 1.5 mM, 100 µl, pH 6 and 10℃, respectively. The lipase was tolerant to NaCl concentrations ranging from 1.5 to 4.5%. The lipase was affected by the tested metal ions, and its activity was inhibited by 16% in the presence of 0.05 M SDS. The application of the cold-active lipase for the removal of an oil stain from a white cotton cloth showed that it is a promising biological agent for the treatment of oily wastes and other related applications. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of the purification and characterization of a lipase from marine B. cereus HSS isolated from the Mediterranean Sea.

유독해수(油獨海水)의 조정(調整)과 성장(性狀)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Conditioning and Characteristics of the Sea Water containing Heavy Oil)

  • As the leakage of crude oil from tankers breaks out frequently, it caused a serious problem for ocean pollution and calls for developing treatments to handle the leaked crude oil and mitigate the pollution. Thus it is required to develop new purification technolgies and appropriate treatment systems which have sufficient treatment capability in order to cope with the anticipated ocean pollution. In this experiment, A and B type heavy oils were used to make the emulsion of both water containing heavy oil and sea-water containing heavy oil. The following are the main results from this study ; 1. When A and B type heavy oils were added to the original sea-water and treatedin the homogrenizer respectively, the particle of oil beacame smaller in both cases. Under the same condition, while the initial oil density of sea-water containing B-heavy oil is higher than of emulsion with A-heavy oil, the particle of A-heavy oil is finer than that of B-heavy oil. 2. When A and B type heavy oils were added to distilled water and treated in the homogenizer respectively, the particle was more dispersed and finer than that in the case of sea-water in both cases. In this result, the water containing oil formed more stable emulsion than the sea-water containing oil. 3. In this experiment, all emulsions showed oil in water types. 4. Since the oil particle is larger in the sea-water than in the distillated water, interms of elimination of oil, it is thought to be more important to give Membrane treatment after implementing sandfilter, activity carbon, coagulation-sedimentation and floating separation as pre-treatment.

Application of tidal energy for purification in fresh water lake

  • In order to preserve the quality of fresh water in the artificial lake after the reclamation of an intertidal flat at the mouth of a river, we suggest two novel methods of water purification by using tidal potential energy and an enclosed permeable embankment called an utsuro (Akai et al., 1990) in the reclaimed region. One method uses an inflatable bag on the seabed within an utsuro, while the other uses a moored floating barge out of a dyke. Each case employs a subsea pipe to allow flow between the inside and outside of the utsuro. The change in water level in the utsuro, which is pushed through the pipe by the potential energy outside, caused circulation in the artificial lake. In this paper, we analyzed the inflatable bag and floating barge motion as well as the pipe flow characteristics and drafts as given by a harmonic sea level, and compared the theoretical value with an experimental value with a simple small model basin. The numerical calculation based on theory showed good agreement with experimental values.

폐쇄성해역에 있어서의 새로운 수질개선책에 관한 연구 (A Study on the New Method for Water-Purification in a Semi-enclosed Bay)

  • Water pollution in a semi-enclosed sea area such as a bay due to stagnancy of water has been a serious water environmental problem. Recently, some kinds of new methods to activate the tidal exchange between an inner bay and an outer sea area by control of a tidal residual current have been proposed. However, these methods have several problems, that is, I). deterioration in a natural view due to building of huge structures, II). increase of risk of navigation in case of a submerged structure, III). limition of sea area where a tidal current can be controlled and IV). difficulty in removing those structures in case of occurrence of an unexpected impact on water environment. In this paper, a new method is proposed, which can solve all the above problems, to purify water quality in a semi-enclosed bay by creation and control of a pattern of a tidal residual current. The tidal residual current is controlled by unsymmetric structures, which change the properties of resistance according to the direction of flow, arranged on the sea bottom. In this study, several numerical and hydraulic experiments of tidal current and particle-tracking for various arrangements of bottom roughness in a semi-enclosed model bay were carried out. As a result of experiments, it becomes clear that it is possible to generate a new tidal residual current and to activate a tidal exchange by only operation of bottom roughness arrangement.

영광-1, 2호기 2차계통 복수기누설의 이론적 분석 및 영향평가 (Theoretical Analysis and Effect of Condenser In-leakage in the Secondary Systems of YGN-1, 2)

  • 복수기를 통한 해수유입은 증기발생기내에 부식환경을 조성시키게 한다. 이론적 분석을 통하여 복수기누설시에 해수증의 불순물인 염소가 2차계통내에 누적되는 경향을 영광원전을 모델로하여 평가하였다. 분석결과 해수누설시에 고농도의 염소가 증기발생기내에 누적되는 것으로 나타났으나, 이는 증기 발생기내의 수질을 산성분위 기로 조성시킬 것으로 판단되었다. 복수기의 최대허용 설계누설(0.5 gpm)시에는 증기발생기 취출수량을 최대로 늘리고, 복수기정화계통을 가동하더라도 증기발생기에 2.3 ppm 및 복수기집수정에 0.6 ppm의 염소가 누적되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 증기발생기에서의 염소농축계수는 아래와 같이 전적으로 취출수량 및 정화계통효율에만 의존하는 것으로 나타났으며,(equation omitted)취출수 및 정화계통은 2차계통내의 불순물을 제거하는데 효과적인 것으로 평가되었다.
