과학 추론능력과 과학 탐구능력에 영향을 미치는 학습자 변인 분석$^{1)}$ (The Analysis of Learner탐s Variables Affecting on Scientific Reasoning and Science Process Skills)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the learner's variables affecting on scientific thinking and scientific process skills. To study this purpose, through the procedure study, the learner's variables were divided into cognitive variable, ego variable, and affective variable, then the questionaire survey through the reconstruction of standardization instrument was made over 120 elementary school fifth grade student in Seoul, Anyang, and Pajoo. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The learner's variables affecting on scientific thinking were cognitive variable and for female students, also affect affective variable. The subordinated catagories of statistically significant degree of explanation were achievement motivation, cognitive level, and cognitive style and another statistically significant correlation were meta-cognition, self regulated learning, self efficacy, and muliple intelligence. 2) The learner's variables affecting on science process skills were cognitive variable and affective variable. And the subordinated catagories of statistically significant degree of explanation were achievement motivation, and cognitive level. And another statistically significant correlation were meta-cognition, self regulated loaming, self efficacy, multiple intelligence, and attribution.

초등학교 3학년 '혼합물의 분리' 단원에서 문제해결 과정을 강조한 수업 전략 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of Teaching Strategy Focused on Problem Solving Process in the 'Separation of Mixture' Unit of Third Grade Elementary School)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a teaching strategy focused on problem solving process and explore its effects on science creative problem solving ability, science process skills, science academic achievements and scientific attitudes of students after applying it. Teaching strategy focused on problem solving process employed brainstorming and PMI thinking strategies. The participants were the third grade students of both an experimental class(26 students) and a comparative class(25 students) at the S elementary school located in Goyang-City, Kyonggi Province. The developed strategy was applied to the experimental class for 9 periods of 'Separation of mixture' unit. The results of the tests on the science creative problem solving ability, the science process skills, scientific achievement and scientific attitude were statistically higher in the experimental class.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 고등학교 화학 I 교과에서 small-scale chemistry (SSC)를 활용한 실험수업이 고등학생들의 학업성취도와 과학적 태도 및 과학에 관련된 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 연구를 위하여 고등학교 2학년 2개 학급을 실험집단과 통제집단으로 나누어 실험집단에는 SSC를 활용한 실험수업을, 통제집단에는 교과서에 제시된 전통적인 실험수업을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, SSC를 활용한 실험수업은 전통적인 실험수업에 비해 학업성취도를 향상시키는 효과가 있었으며, 과학적 태도에서는 자진성과 끈기성 및 협동성을, 과학에 관련된 태도에서는 과학의 사회적 의미와 과학교과에 대한 태도 및 과학에 대한 태도를 향상시키는 효과가 있었다. 그러므로 교육 현장에서는 SSC를 활용한 실험수업을 고등학교 화학교과에 적극적으로 활용할 필요가 있다.

CoRe에 기반한 과학 수업이 초등학생들의 과학 개념 형성과 학업 성취도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of CoRe-based Science Lesson on the Scientific Conceptual Formation and Academic Achievement of Elementary School Students)

  • This study aimed to investigate the changes in learner's scientific conceptual formation and academic achievement after a CoRe-based science lesson. For this study, two classes of the 6th grade of elementary school were divided into an experimental class and a comparison one. The students of the experimental class received CoRe-based science lesson and those of the comparison one received general science lesson. Both of the classes studied 'unit 1. A change in the weather', which is a part of content of 6th grade science text book. The results of this study were as follows. First, in the questions of invisible and abstract phenomena, students had misconceptions based on their experience in real life, or did not understand the fundamental causes of that phenomena. But after receiving lessons respectively, experimental class generally showed at a higher rate of understanding the causes of the phenomena than comparison class. Second, CoRe-based science lesson was more effective to improve students' scientific conceptual formation than the general science lesson. Moreover, when two classes were respectively divided into two groups as high and low-level groups according to their pre-test achievement records, the CoRe-based science lesson was more effective to learners of the high-level groups. Third, CoRe-based science lesson was more effective to enhance students' academic achievements than the general science lesson, especially to learners of the low-level groups.

학습정리 단계에서 만화자료를 활용한 수업이 과학적 태도 및 학업성취도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Using Cartoon at Finishing Stage of Class on Scientific Attitude and Academic Achievement)

  • This study is to verify the effects of classes at a finishing stage using cartoons depicting certain science textbook units on scientific attitudes and academic achievements of students, compared to those of classes using experiment and observation oriented textbooks. Participants of this study were 56 fifth graders at B Elementary School in Busan, and cartoon textbooks were developed based on 'Unit 1. Mirror & Lens' and 'Unit 3. Temperature & Wind' from a science textbook for the 1st semester, the year 5 to conduct cartoon led lessons just before ending a class till the 10th lesson, for the period of 4 weeks. The result of this study can be summarized as follows: Firstly, scientific attitudes improved better from the cartoon based lesson of a final stage than from the experiment and observation method, and especially more effective in lower groups among all other academic achievement levels as well as in male students. Secondly, academic achievements scored higher when cartoons were used in lessons than when the experiment and observation type was used, with higher groups of academic achievement levels working better, despite no significant gap existing between two genders. Thirdly, the memory transfer and sustenance of lessons were more effective in finishing class stage with cartoon studies than with experiment and observation one, and among all levels and both sexes, higher academic groups and male pupils exceeded. Fourthly, when questioned about their opinions on a cartoon led lesson for a final stage, 65% of those participants responded positively, while higher groups preferred more than lower groups. responded positively, while higher groups preferred more than lower groups.

초등과학 수업에서 다중지능 요소별 관찰전략을 활용한 관찰학습이 학생의 관찰능력, 성취도 및 과학적 태도에 미치는 효과 (An Effect of Multiple Intelligences-Specific Observation Strategy on Observation Skills, Achievement and Scientific Attitude in Elementary Science Class)

  • 본 연구는 초등학교 4학년 2학기 1단원 '식물의 세계'에서 학습자 중심의 다양한 관찰학습을 적용하기 위해 다중지능 요소별 관찰 전략을 개발하여 과학수업에 관찰 학습 프로그램을 적용하고 초등학생들의 관찰능력, 학업성취도, 과학적 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 단원 차시별 관찰 대상 및 주제를 선정하고 다중지능 활용 교수 학습 방법 중 적합한 방법을 추출하여 다중지능 요소별 관찰전략을 개발하였다. 개발한 관찰전략을 활용하는 관찰학습 프로그램 단계를 구상하였으며 관찰능력, 학업성취도, 과학적 태도에 관한 사전검사를 실시하였다. 관찰학습 프로그램 단계마다 개발한 다중지능 요소별 관찰전략 중 적절한 전략을 선택하여 교수학습을 계획하고 수업에 투입하였다. 수업 실시 후 관찰능력, 학업성취도, 과학적 태도에 관한 사후 검사를 통해 효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 다중지능 요소별 관찰전략을 적용한 관찰 능력을 검사에서 학생들의 관찰 능력 수준을 상위단계로 발전시키는데 긍정적인 영향을 끼친 것으로 보인다. 관찰 능력 검사의 하위 영역인 진술문 구별하기, 정량관찰, 정성관찰 영역에서 실험반이 비교반보다 높은 점수를 나타냈다. 둘째, 관찰 전략의 적용은 학생들의 과학적 개념 이해에 효과적이었으며 초등 과학 생물 영역 성취도 검사에서 실험반이 비교반보다 점수가 높은 점수를 받도록 하였다. 셋째, 과학적 태도 검사에서는 과학적 태도의 하위 요소인 개방성, 자진성, 창의성에서 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 다중지능 요소별 관찰전략은 과학적 태도 변화에도 긍정적인 효과를 끼쳤음을 알 수 있다. 이 연구 결과를 종합하면 다중지능 요소별 관찰전략을 적용한 결과 관찰능력, 학업성취도, 과학적 태도 모든 영역에서 효과가 있었다. 따라서 다중지능 요소별 관찰 전략은 초등학교의 과학 수업 현장에서 교수 학습 방법의 하나로 제시 될 수 있으며 의미있는 과학수업이 될 것이다.

Ontology-based Description of Functional Design Knowledge and its Use in a Functional Was Server

  • In conceptual design of engineering devices, a designer decomposes a required function into sub-functions, so-called functional decomposition, using a kind of functional knowledge representing achievement relations among functions. However, such knowledge about functionality of engineering devices is usually left implicit because each designer possesses it. Even if such knowledge is found in documents, it is often scattered around technical domains and lacks consistency. Aiming at capturing such functional knowledge explicitly and sharing it in design teams, we discuss its systematic description based on functional ontologies which provide common concepts for its consistent and generic description. We propose a new concept named “was of achievement” as a key concept for capturing such functional knowledge. Categorization of typical representations of the knowledge and its organization as is-a hierarchies are also discussed. The generic concepts representing functionality of a device in the functional knowledge are provided by the functional concept ontology, which makes the functional knowledge consistent and applicable to other domains. We also discuss development of a design supporting system using the systematized knowledge, called a functional was server. It helps human designers redesign an existing engineering device by providing a wide range of alternative ways of achievement of the required function in a manner suitable for the viewpoint of each designer and then facilitates innovative design.

초등과학 탐구수업에서 문제생성 학습전략의 효과 (The Effect of Question-Generating Strategy for Science Inquiry Instruction in Elementary Science Class)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of question-generating strategy on science academic achievement, scientific attitude in elementary science class. To examine the effects of question-generating strategy this learning materials were applied to elementary science curriculum, and an experimental group and a control group were selected from $5^{th}$ graders at H elementary school located in Gyeonggi-do. Students were taught for 6 weeks. Control group take traditional lessons and solve questions presented textbook. Question generated group generate questions, solve them and feed back by themselves. The results of this study were found statistically significant difference in the pupil's enhancement of the science academic achievement, scientific attitude (p<.05). Thus question-generating strategy for elementary science inquiry instruction that has a positive effect on interests in class is useful and better be widely applied to science education.

우리나라 학생들의 과학 영역 성취 특성 탐색 (Exploration of Features of Korean Students' Performance in Science)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 PISA 2018에서 나타난 우리나라 학생들의 과학 영역 성취의 특징을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 PISA 2009 ~ PISA 2018 과학 영역에서 우리나라 학생들의 성취 수준별 비율과 성취 수준별 남녀 비율을 살펴보았으며, 평가틀 하위 요소별 정답률을 PISA 2015와 비교하여 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 우리나라는 PISA 주요 성취 상위국에 비하여 하위 성취 수준 학생들의 비율이 높았던 반면, 상위 성취 수준 학생들의 비율은 낮았다. 평균에서 남학생과 여학생의 성취 차이는 거의 없어졌으나, 상위 성취 수준에서 남학생의 비율은 여학생의 비율보다 높은 것이 유지되고 있었다. 또한, 평가틀에서 '맥락'의 '개인적', '역량'의 '과학 탐구의 설계 및 평가', '지식'의 '인식론적' 지식, '인지적 요구'의 '상'에 해당하는 문항의 정답률이 상승하여 PISA 2015에 비해 성취가 향상되었다. 연구 결과를 토대로, 우리나라 학생들의 과학 역량 함양을 위한 교수·학습과 평가의 개선 방안을 제안하였다.

학습(學習) 부진아(不振兒)의 과학(料學)에 대(對)한 태도(態度) 및 과학적(科學的) 태도(態度) 조사(調査) 연구(硏究) (An Investigation of the Attitude Toward Science and Scientific Attitude for the Underachievers)

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the general attitude toward science and scientific inquiry behavior of underachiever at the junior high school level. In this study, underachiever was defined as the one who is below the minimum acceptable performance level because of his/her deficiencies in prerequisites but who has the capability to reach the required mastery level in normal classroom. For the identification of the underachiever, IQ test and achievement test in science which were developed by the investigators were used. The attitude test which was to measure the general attitude toward science and scientific inquiry behaviors of the underachiever was also developed by the investigators. The tests were given to 250 1st grade junior high school students in one experimental school. Out of 250, 55 underachievers were identified. For the study, 55 underachievers with 57 normal students were compared. The findings of this study showed that there were significant differencies between underachievers and normal students in both attitude toward science and scientific inquiry behavior. They can be summarized as follows; 1. Awareness on science by underachievers was minimal compared to normal students. 2. Compared to normal students, there was a tendency by underachievers to think the influence of science on their real life is remote. 3. Underaschievers were less positive, less voluntary and were less persistent in science activities than normal students. 4. Underachievers were less interested in science than normal students. These findings showed us that there were significant relation between the attitude and achievement level. This suggests that fostering attitude toward science and scientific inquiry behavior is needed for the improvement of achievement level of underachievers.
