  • The improvement of spatial resolution is a fundamental issue in the two-photon, polymerization-based, laser writing. In this study, a voxel tuning method using a radical quencher was proposed to increase the resolution, and the quenching effect according to the amount of radical quencher was experimentally investigated. Employing the proposed method, the lateral resolution of the line patterns was improved almost to 100 nm. However, a shortcoming of the quenching effect was the low mechanical strength of polymerized structures due to their short chain lengths. Nano-indentation tests were conducted to evaluate quantitatively the relationship between mechanical strength and the mixture ratio of the radical quencher into the resins. The elastic modulus was dramatically reduced from an average value of 3.015 to 2.078 GPa when 5 wt% of radical quencher was mixed into the resin. Three-dimensional woodpile structures were fabricated to compare the strength between the resin containing radical quencher and the original resin.

  • In Nigeria, Igbemo-Ekiti is synonymous with a popular local rice which, nevertheless, is characterized with contaminations. Efforts of Government through the Agricultural Development Project (ADP) to improve rice quality in the state, have failed to yield the desired results. This study, therefore, reports the peculiar factors influencing the processing of rice in Igbemo-a major local producing town in Ekiti State, Nigeria. 72 respondents were interviewed, which was a census of the rice processors in 21 residential quarters of the town. Using the multiple linear regression models for analysis, the study discovered that; (i) status of the processors, (ii) expenditure on processing (iii) training acquired before commencing work, and (iv) storage facilities are crucial factors impacting rice processing activities in the town. The paper canvasses for policy measures based on research findings.

  • In this study, we examined the case of Fukushima Hydrogen Research Field (FH2R) Namie hydrogen town. We found that the case has three aspects of socio-technical experiment: a living-scale test-bed of hydrogen technologies, activities for enhancing social acceptability, and a designed module for policy transfer to diffuse. This study aims to provide a benchmark for planning a green hydrogen city in near future.

  • The effect of concentrations of phosphate buffer and acrylonitrile, pH, and various salts on the operational stability of the immobilized cells of Brevibacterium CH2 in a packed bed reactor were investigated. The effects of salts and carriers on the swelling of the immobilized beads during hydrolysis in a columnreactor were also investigated. Immobilization of the cells in Ba-alginate was more desirable than those in polyacrylamide and Ca-alinate for the swelling of the immobilized beads and the desired quality of the acrylamide produced. High quality acrylamide was produced using the Ba-alginate beads in a recycle fed-batch reactor without using an isotonic substrate. The conversion yield was nearly 100%, including a trace amount of acrylic acid produced as a by-product.

  • Graphene was fabricated onto Ni/Si substrate using a rapid-thermal pulse CVD and they were transferred onto the Ti/PES flexible substrate. For top electrode applications of the BMNO dielectric films, graphene was patterned using a argon plasma. Through an AFM image and a leakage current density of the BMNO films grown onto various bottom electrodes before and after bending test, BMNO films grown onto the graphene bottom electrode showed no change of the microstructure and the leakage current density after the bend.

  • This paper is concerned with the energy absorption efficiency of auto-body side structures for the conventional steel and 60TRIP high strength steel. In order to evaluate the energy absorption efficiency, the dynamic crash analysis is carried out with the regulation of US-SINCAP. The analysis adopts the Johnson-Cook model for the dynamic material properties, which have been obtained from dynamic material tests. For the sake of the dynamic material properties, the analysis has been accurately peformed for the crashworthiness assesment. The analysis result provides deformed shapes, amounts of penetration and accelerations at several important points during crash. The result confirms that 60TRIP greatly improves the crashworthiness of the side members without sacrificing the weight and thus can be used for the light-weight design of an auto-body.

  • Daedeok Valley, located in the Daejon Metropolitan City, Korea, has around 1,000 start-ups. There is no comprehensive study for the valley except Seol et al.(2002), because the valley is a new one. There was no such valley four years ago, in 1998. This paper defines the spatial boundary, origins and characteristics of the valley. The core area of the valley is Daedeok Science Town. This valley is an outcome of so called the Venture Policy of DJ government and business restructuring after foreign exchange crisis of November, 1997.

  • The infrared and resonance Raman spectra are reported for nickel and zinc tetraphenylchlorins. It is found that the IR and RR spectra become more complicated compared with the corresponding porphyrin analogs due to the symmetry changes. Some vibrational parameters like the core size and the symmetry change are examined in accordance with vibrational spectra of other type of chlorins.
