The earlier KANSEI evaluation had to choose not to overlap the opposite meaning of the words, had to choose that some figures are shown step by step and had to choose be prepared things in advance. However, The Study shows a method which visualizes the imprecise evaluations of human without choosing evaluation items which are not prepared figures. The program is used the way which is entered by hand-drawing that the subjects use the way to enter their subjective feelings about the evaluations presented by using the mouse or the graphics tablet. It is possible to express imprecise things about evaluations and the method of drawing is free. The program provides that we can express our thinking by drawing and there are a few limits and the prescribed standard. The area ratio of each circle is expressed as a pie chart and the area of circle what is drawn which is counted automatically at the same time. These things are possible not only to modify a transparency, a thickness of a line, a color and the area of circle what is drawn, but also to adjust the area of circle. The conceptual model is visualized that expresses something by hand-drawing such as a circle. The conceptual model has wide range of applications such as a personnel evaluation, a suffering evaluation and product evaluation. The program currently has been testing the effective of the program's possibilities which is used with the personnel appraisal tool of the nurses themselves who work in nurse support department where the St. Marianna University School of Medicine Hospital is. And also the program is proceeding with development to visualize the conceptual model by dynamic interfaces effectively and the program is applied such as KJ method and a program is used to express the kind of the patient's pain and its level.
The purpose of this study was to explore 8th-grade students' imageries of the Earth. We analyzed the middle school students' imageries about the Earth represented with words and drawings in Earth Systems Understanding (ESU, hereafter) framework. The students' imageries about 'the Earth' are vary by their experiences and prior-knowledge, which significantly impacts their imagery construction. Especially, the students' ESU were characterized into two aspects: One is a macroscopic view point based on full-objects of the Earth by indirect experiences and the other is everyday view point based on scene of the Earth surface and environment by direct experiences. Results revealed students' imageries about the Earth were impacted by visual experiences and those students' ESU were more represented by drawing as visual imagery than by words, formal language. The negative imageries were mainly represented through interactions of the Earth subsystems.
Polyester/melamine cured coatings had been used for pre-primed coatings and pre-coated metal coatings, because it has good mechanical, chemical properties, and mar resistance. But it has weak points such as stiffness and low formability for making automotive components. Polyester had been synthesized using polycarbonate diol of long alkyl chain which can improve flexibility and formability which is one of the important factors for pre-coated steel sheets (PCM). In this study, strain and tensile strength were examined by the tensile test and formability was examined by the drawing test. Also, Those polyester resins were also measured by DMA to verify flexibility of cured coatings.
The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary school students' awareness about socio-scientific issues and solutions about environmental topics by using their drawings. For this study, 489 students were participated in 3 provincial regions, Incheon, Dangjin and Pohang in Korea. The students participated in a drawing activity to express their ideas of the socio-scientific issues and solutions related to 'environmental problems.' The analysis of the data include that the students displayed most awareness towards air pollution, water pollution and trash problems. However, the global environmental problems such as global warming and climate change were perceived very low. The interesting thing was about 8% of the students, who drew global environmental problems, tried to explain their drawings using scientific knowledge. But they revealed misconceptions as well. For instance, they were not good at connecting their science knowledge with environmental problems. About 80% of the students drew the pictures, showing solutions in personal context. They mainly drew 3 kinds of solutions: 'Reduce trash', 'Preserve ecosystem' and 'Saving of resources & energy'. Most students suggested to administrate the action plans. About 19% of the students drew 'campaign to save the forest' or 'develop alternative energy' in social context. And only 1 student drew UN conference to solve the environmental problems in national context.
Media company is not a business which sells news and information but a company sells audience's attention. Advertisers estimate audience's quantity and quality which pay attention to media and pay the cost. Thus drawing audience's attention is a natural and instinctive behavior for survival of media company. News doesn't deliver the fact just as it. That's impossible. News is a commodity made by processing and selection of the media company and journalist. On the process, judge of values is involved and limitation of time and place of media is considered. If scientists understand media's character truly, their misunderstanding about media company and journalist may be cleared up. In this society, media is not a being to ignore, particularly for big science like space science which spends huge public capital. Nowadays, space science meets the time to take the leap in Korea. However that can be crisis cause of uncertainty of science activity. When the crisis which no one desires happens, preparation needs for new opportunity. We can take the crisis as a chance. Understanding about media and public will be the first step for this preparation.
The purpose of this study was to investigate misconceptions about plate tectonics which spread widely among freshmen at high school with drawing. For this, we chose 6 conceptions about plate tectonics by analysis of 7th curriculum and of 11 kinds of science textbooks. Questionnaire of drawing about plate tectonics were developed depending on them. Data was collected from 134 students who was freshmen at high school in Daegu. The result of this study was as follows. First, In structure of plate, 'upper mantle type' and 'crust type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Second, In distribution of plate, 'cracked earthquake zone type' and 'earthquake frequency type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Third, In formation of ocean ridge at oceanic crust- oceanic crust divergent plate boundary, 'divergence type' and 'collision type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Fourth, In formation of mountain ridge at continental crust- continental crust convergent plate boundary, 'collision type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Fifih, In formation of mountain ridge at oceanic crust- continental crust convergent plate boundary, 'subduction type' and 'fault type' misconceptions were more than half of the respondents. Sixth, In transform-fault at oceanic crust- oceanic crust transform-fault boundary, 'direction type' and 'section type' misconceptions were almost half of the respondents. In this study, students' drawings about plate tectonics showed similar misconceptions. This imply that drawing conceptions can be used by the strong evidence of misconceptions which spread widely among students. Furthermore, this study has a significance that this conclusion is useful to teachers as basic teaching-teaming materials of plate tectonics.
We generate solar magnetograms and EUV images from Galileo sunspot drawings using a deep learning model based on conditional generative adversarial networks. We train the model using pairs of sunspot drawing from Mount Wilson Observatory (MWO) and their corresponding magnetogram (or UV/EUV images) from 2011 to 2015 except for every June and December by the SDO (Solar Dynamic Observatory) satellite. We evaluate the model by comparing pairs of actual magnetogram (or UV/EUV images) and the corresponding AI-generated one in June and December. Our results show that bipolar structures of the AI-generated magnetograms are consistent with those of the original ones and their unsigned magnetic fluxes (or intensities) are well consistent with those of the original ones. Applying this model to the Galileo sunspot drawings in 1612, we generate HMI-like magnetograms and AIA-like EUV images of the sunspots. We hope that the EUV intensities can be used for estimating solar EUV irradiance at long-term historical times.
