Online training and education from the VR-1 reactor-Lessons learned

  • Hands-on education and training is a key part of fixing and developing technology knowledge and is an inherent part of many engineering and scientific curricula. However, access to large complex training facilities, such as nuclear reactor, could be limited by various factors, such as unavailability of those facilities in the region, high traveling costs or harmonization of the schedules of hands-on E&T with theoretical lectures and with the operational schedule of the facility. To handle the issue, several success stories have been reached with the introduction of the Internet Reactor Labs (IRL). The Internet Reactor Labs can strongly contribute to accessibility of training at research reactors and can contribute to improvements in their utilization. The paper describes the development of the Internet Reactor Lab at the VR-1 reactor of the Czech Technical University in Prague. Contrary to single-purpose IRLs, it presents various modalities of online teaching and training in experimental reactor physics and reactor operation in general as well as outreach activities that have been developed in recent years.

차량과 노변장치의 통신에서 처리율 향상을 위한 전송 스케줄링 방안 (RSU scheduling method to improve service ratio in vehicle-to-RSU communication)

  • Recently, people have been interested in new intelligent transport system (ITS) architecture, so that vehicular networks are becoming an attractive research area. When vehicles try to access data through a roadside unit (RSU), data scheduling of RSU needs to improve service ratio due to limited bandwidth and service time. In this paper, we propose a service scheduling algorithm based on transmission delays and service deadlines of vehicles in order to improve the service ratio. In our algorithm, we assume the promiscuous operation of wireless nodes and it can make a single transmission of RSU serve multiple requests. We evaluated the performance of our scheme via simulations, and results show that our schemes have better performance than existing algorithms.

  • 최근 들어 혼합된 수용액으로부터 이온성을 가지는 부류의 물질들을 분리하기 위한 갖가지 화학적 물리적 방법들이 이용되어 왔다. 그중 분리막 접촉기를 이용한 막 투과추출공정은 오폐수와 같은 오염물 안의 중금속, 탄화수소계열 물질들을 투과추출 공정에 의해 회수할 수 있기 때문에 의약, 석유화학, 화공분야에서 분리시스템 그리고 회수를 위한 대안으로서 각광받아 왔다. 또한 투과추출공정은 쉬운 구동, 낮은 에너지 소모, 낮은 운영비, 높은 선택도와 같은 장점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 본고에서는 투과추출공정용으로의 응용을 위하여 그동안 개발된 분리막의 몇 가지 예와 그들의 성능에 대하여 조사하였다.

  • Logistics industry confronting very complex situation because of small quantity, frequent orders, multinational enterprises, lack of human power etc. leads to diversity, flexibility and agility. In this paper, integrated approach is introduced for projecting national technologies in logistics systems related to IT and automated control industry. Three areas of automation, IT basis, and operation techniques are included along with business factors of transportation, warehousing, stevedoring, pecking, and information systems. As a result, the epitome concludes the technology of in-house development and joint collaboration with others.

  • Because of the number and complicate relationship, it is difficult to improve the processes and activities in a company. The continuous improvement for ISO 9001, we introduced IDEF Model for re-engineering the ISO9000 Process. A valve maker was selected as a sample company, and we confirmed that several processes can be reduced and several processes can newly be added for effective and more practical operation of a company.

  • The profile of unpaved road is an important issue in the reliability of endurance test. Efforts on measuring 2D road profile and analyzing the severity have been continued in the study of performing reliable endurance test evaluations through reflecting the results of such measurement and analysis. However, 2D road profile has limitation in measuring the profile in the road width direction because data is obtained along the trailer wheel track. Therefore, in order to measure 3-dimensional shape of road surface and construct severity DB of 3D road profile, Changwon Proving Ground(CPG) of Agency for Defense Development(ADD) developed 3D profilometer which is composed of laser scanner, IMU, GPS, encoder and so on. This paper focuses on the analysis of unpaved road severity using 3D road profile for army operation roads. This results will be used to manage test courses severity of CPG.

  • Urban transit vehicle that uses electrical energy, is faster, safer and energy-efficient public transit than other means. As a Research method, the Matlab/Simulink are used to modeling a regenerative brake-capable train, and actual parameters such as powering and braking characteristics, all kinds of resistance, passenger load, velocity, gradient, radius of curve etc and powering and breaking commands per time or distance are inputted to train's dynamic equation, then a simulation program is made and used to yield train driving pattern and driving time and the amount of driving energy used thereby at auto and manual operation and at all sector.

  • We have proposed modeling methods of mariners' standard behavior for collision avoidance by analyzing mariners' recognition process in a previous study. As a subsequent study, the aim of this study is to build a model of mariners' execution process which is one of six processes in the condition of collision avoidance. In this study, thus, the structure of mariners' information processing on the process of taking avoiding actions is described and the relation between mariners' behavior and necessary factors in the process is analyzed. And then we have built a model of mariners' standard behavior for execution process based on the characteristics of mariners in ship-handling, which are obtained from the international collaborative research on human factors. It is tried to define the contents of execution process based on the standard behavior of mariners for collision avoidance and to formulate information processing of mariners.

  • A systematic synthesis process is described for the simulation of current-controllable inductors using operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs). The process is used to obtain three circuits; two are believed to be novel. The process is also applied to design current-controllable frequency-dependent negative resistances (FDNRs). Operation principles of designed circuits are presented and experimental results are used to verify theoretical predictions. The results show close agreement between predicted behavior and experimental performance.
