Optimization of Domain-Independent Classification Framework for Mood Classification

  • In this paper, we introduce a domain-independent classification framework based on both k-nearest neighbor and Naive Bayesian classification algorithms. The architecture of our system is simple and modularized in that each sub-module of the system could be changed or improved efficiently. Moreover, it provides various feature selection mechanisms to be applied to optimize the general-purpose classifiers for a specific domain. As for the enhanced classification performance, our system provides conditional probability boosting (CPB) mechanism which could be used in various domains. In the mood classification domain, our optimized framework using the CPB algorithm showed 1% of improvement in precision and 2% in recall compared with the baseline.

  • In this literature, the selection of data set among the universe set is carried out with the fuzzy entropy function. By the definition of fuzzy entropy, we have proposed the fuzzy entropy function and the proposed fuzzy entropy function is proved through the definition. The proposed fuzzy entropy function calculate the certainty or uncertainty value of data set, hence we can choose the data set that satisfying certain bound or reference. Therefore the reliable data set can be obtained by the proposed fuzzy entropy function. With the simple example we verify that the proposed fuzzy entropy function select reliable data set.

  • To reduce chattering in sliding mode control, a boundary layer around the sliding surface is used, and a continuous control is applied within the boundary. In this paper, a method of determining the sliding mode controller switching gains and the width of boundary layer is presented. Contrary to the trial and error selection of the switching gains and the width of boundary layer, the selection in the presented work is done using genetic algorithms. Simulation results show that the system performance has been improved.

  • The conventional feature recombination technique is very effective in the band-limited noise condition, but in broad-band noise condition, the conventional feature recombination technique does not produce notable performance improvement compared with the full-band system. To cope with this drawback, we introduce a new technique of sub-band likelihood computation in the feature recombination, and propose a new feature recombination method by using this sub-band likelihood computation. Furthermore, the reliable sub-band selection based on the signal-to-noise ratio is used to improve the performance of this proposed feature recombination. Experimental results shows that the average error reduction rate in various noise condition is more than 27% compared with the conventional full-band speaker identification system.

  • 본 논문은 OFDMA 셀룰러 네트워크 기반 최적 D2D 통신을 위한 모드 선택 및 자원할당 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 단말의 채널 정보를 바탕으로 QoS를 만족하는 D2D-모드 가능 영역을 판별하고, Primal-Dual 알고리즘을 이용하여 최적의 해를 구한다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안하는 기법이 기존 기법대비 시스템 수율을 크게 개선함을 확인하였다.

  • This paper discusses the selection of optimal location of Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) devices to maintain the steady-state voltage profile within limits. A procedure for selecting optimal TCSC location based on sensitivity analysis is developed. This approach identifies the critical lines by evaluating all the voltage magnitudes sensitivity with respect to a line reactance. Computer simulation of a example system is used to verify the proposed procedure.

새로운 옥사졸리디논계 항균제 LCB01-0371에 대한 Enterococcus faecalis의 내성 기전 (Resistance Mechanism of Enterococcus faecalis to LCB01-0371, a New Oxazolidinone)

  • To study the resistance mechanism of E. faecalis to LCB01-0371, several resistant mutants to LCB01-0371 or linezolid were isolated by step-wise selection. The frequency of spontaneous mutations resistant to LCB01-0371 was lower than that of linezolid in E. faecalis. The genetic variations in resistant mutants were analyzed by DNA sequencing of domain V of 23S rRNA in each mutant. The first-step mutant to LCB01-0371 had a G2576T point mutation in V domain of 23S rRNA. However, no resistant mutant to LCB01-0371 was isolated in second-step mutant selection.

Hand Surgery Fellowship Selection Criteria: A National Fellowship Director Survey

  • Background Candidate characteristics for hand surgery fellowship training remains unknown, as very little data is available in the literature. This study aims to provide information on the criteria that are employed to select candidates for the hand surgery fellowship match. Methods A 38-question survey was sent in April 2015 to all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education recognized hand surgery fellowship program directors (n=81) involved in the U.S. match. The survey investigated factors used for the selection of applicants, including medical school, residency training, research experience, fellowship interview, and candidate characteristics. A 5-point Likert scale was used to grade 33 factors from "not at all important" (1) to "essential in making my decision" (5); or for five controversial factors from "very negative impact" (1) to "very positive impact in making my decision" (5). Results A total of 52% (42 out of 81) of responses were received from hand surgery fellowship program directors. The most important influential factors were interactions with faculty during interview and visit ($4.6{\pm}0.6$), interpersonal skills ($4.6{\pm}0.5$), overall interview performance in the selection process ($4.6{\pm}0.6$), professionalism and ethics ($4.6{\pm}0.7$), and letters of recommendation from hand surgeons ($4.5{\pm}0.7$). Factors that have a negative impact on the selection process include visa requirement ($2.1{\pm}1.2$), graduate of non-plastic surgery residency program ($2.4{\pm}1.3$), and graduate of a foreign medical school ($2.4{\pm}1.1$). Conclusions This study provides data on hand surgery fellowship directors' perception on the criteria important for fellowship applicant selection, and showed that interview-related criteria and letters of recommendation are the important factors.

중국인의 한식 레스토랑 선택 속성이 고객의 만족도에 미치는 영향 - 심양을 중심으로 - (The Effects of Selection Attributes on Customer Satisfaction - The Case of Korean-themed Restaurants in Shenyang, China -)

  • 본 연구는 한식 레스토랑 이용 경험이 있는 중국 고객들을 대상으로 한식 레스토랑을 이용할 때 중요하게 생각하는 요인과 고객 만족에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였는데, 다음과 같은 결과가 나타났다. 첫째, 연령, 결혼 여부, 교육 수준, 직업, 월 가계소득에 따라 한식 레스토랑 선택 속성의 중요도에 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 연령, 결혼여부, 직업, 월 가계소득에 따라 한식 레스토랑 선택 속성의 만족도에 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 셋째, 한식 레스토랑 선택 속성의 중요도요인 중 가치 및 서비스 요인과 음식요인은 고객의 전반적인 만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 한식 레스토랑 선택 속성의 만족도요인 중 음식 및 가격요인, 분위기 및 서비스 요인은 고객의 전반적인 만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 바탕으로 한국 외식업체들이 목표 시장을 설정하거나 그에 맞는 업체의 컨셉을 정할 수 있는 실무적인 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
