  • This research is undertook as a preliminary study for cultural and ecological environments of Daegu city which is required to improve urban image as the host city of 2011 World Championship in Athletics. The main findings of this research are as follows: Firstly, it is necessary to correct some errors in the natural scenery, such as Shincheon and Ibam which are known as important natural scenery of Daegu city. and also necessary to correct some errors in the name of places. Secondly, according to the old literature, it is known that there are two famous rocks in Daegu. Ibam, one of the two, is known as already disappeared. However, Hwaam, the other one, has been recently revealed as substantial. Therefore, the city needs to preserve the natural inheritance. In this sense, the city needs to consider to utilize natural scenery as cultural eco-tourism resources. Lastly, some part of landforms are related to culture and history. Thus, I proposes to name them as 'cultural landforms'.

  • Based on the result of extraction of common factors executed in order to elucidate the visual attributes of street scenery by types through the rotation of 23 adjective variables by Varimax, the visual attributes expressed after the construction of the facilities using street scenery were anylized to be 4 factors including factor 1 through factor 4. Theexplanation of the 4 factor groups to explain the entire distribution was 65.3% and these factor groups are the psychological attributes felt when using facilities are constructed by securing the street spaces in downtowns and the factors were named as naturalness(factor 1), locality(factor 2), identity(factor 3) and clarity(factor 4) respectively. Based on the result of one-way layout distribution analysis, the preferences for street scenery by types were found out to show considerable differences at 1 % significance level. Based on the result of multiple regression analysis, all of the factors explaining preferences including factor 1 through factor 4 were significant at 1 % significance level. In case other conditions are constant, if the values of the adjective variables related to locality(factor 2) increase by 1 unit, the preferences which are the values of dependent variables will increase by 0.709. The variable with the largest relative contribution among the 4 factor groups was the locality(factor 2) factor group and on the contrary, it was found that the independent variable with least influences was the clarity(factor 4) factor group.

  • This paper deals with animation of snowy scenery using texture mapping and particle system. Two different OpenGL programs were prepared and compared for implementation and evaluation of their performance. One used glPointSize(), and the other used glut SoildSphere(). Result of implementation revealed that the first was faster than the second. So the first is considered to be more useful for the slow PC. In relation to the first method, I found that control of shape of snow flake conflicts with that of color. Fortunately, I found out an esoteric method which handles the back ground image for scene that is used in texture mapping, I present that method.
