The 123Te(p,n)123I, 124Te(p,n)124I and 124Te(p,2n)123I reactions, among the many reaction channels opened, are the major reactions under consideration from a diagnostic purpose because reaction residuals as the gamma emitters are used for most radiophamaceutical applications involving radioiodine. Based on the available experimental data, the absorption cross sections and elastic scattering angular distributions of the proton-induced nuclear reaction on Te isotopes below 60 MeV are calculated using the optical model code APMNK. The transmission coefficients of neutron, proton, deuteron, trition and alpha particles are calculated by CUNF code and are fed into the GNASH code. By adjusting level density parameters and the pair correction values of some reaction channels, as well as the composite nucleus state density constants of the pre-equilibrium model, the production cross sections and energy-angle correlated spectra of the secondary light particles, as well as production cross sections and energy distributions of heavy recoils and gamma rays are calculated by the statistical plus pre-equilibrium model code GNASH. The calculated results are analysed and compared with the experimental data taken from the EXFOR. The optimized global optical model parameters give overall agreement with the experimental data over both the entire energy range and all tellurium isotopes.
The interaction of incident manochromatic waves with an array of N surface-piercing porous dual cylindrical structures is investigated in the frame of three-dimensional linear potential theory. The dual cylindrical structure is camposed of concentric two cylinders. The exterior cylinder is porous and the interior cylinder is impermeable. The fluid domain is divided into N+1 regions i.e. a single exterior region and N interior regions. The diffraction potentials in each region representing the scattering of incident waves by an array of porous cylindrical structures are expressed by the Fourier Bessel series. The unknown coefficients in each region are determined by applying the porous boundary condition and continuity of mass flux at the matching boundary. It is found that an array of porous cylindrical structures reduces both the wave forces and the wave run-up, and shows the excellent performance of wave blocking. The results show that various types of breakwater exchanging seawater are prospective by controlling the porosity and the configuration of cylindrical structures.
Aerosol optical properties from the radiation measurements by SKYNET PREDE skyradiometers, POM-01 and POM-02 were compared during the inter-calibration campaign at Seoul in February 2009. The monochromatic solar flux at the top of the atmosphere ($F_0$) gave a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 9-10% for both instruments. This comparatively high value of RSD was probably because $F_0$ was determined at short time intervals, in the morning and afternoon, using the measurements made in the polluted environment of Seoul. Although POM-02 was more effective in tracking the solar radiation, aerosol optical depths (AODs) from the two instruments were very similar after the cloud screening procedure. The squared correlation coefficients ($R^2$) of single scattering albedo (SSA) and real and imaginary refractive indices between the two instruments was around 0.5 but increased to 0.7-0.8 when only using AOD greater than 0.4. Nevertheless, mean values of the Angstrom exponent, SSA, and the imaginary refractive index of POM-02 were higher than those of POM-01.

The wave interaction with flexible membrane such as PVC and PU fabrics is studied to prove its applicability to portable breakwaters. To analyze the wave deformation due to the flexible membrane. eigen-function expansion method is employed. The fluid domain is seperated into two regions. The velocity potential in each regions and the deformation of membrane are coupled by the body boundary conditions. Herein the deformation of membrane is obtained by solving the membrane equation. As a numerical example, transmission and reflection coefficients according to the change of several design parameters such as tensile force. mooring line stiffness and membrane height are investigated. It is found that the efficiency of flexible membrane breakwater is significantly affected by these design parameters. The angle of incident wave is an important role to the performance of breakwater. Finally we conclude that flexible membrane can be used to engineering material for the future breakwaters.

Bragg reflection of water waves by three kinds of surface-piercing fixed structures with rectangular, cosinoidal and triangular shapes is studied. Boundary element method is used to analyze the wave scattering by these structures based on the linear wave theory. Results of reflection and transmission coefficients are validated by comparing with those available in literature. These structures with proper configurations are proved to be effective in attenuating waves by using Bragg reflection, and the triangular structures are found to be the best choices among the structures with same width and same area. Systematic calculations are then carried out for the triangular structures by varying the number, the draft, the width, the gap and the combination of width and gap of the structures to analyze their influences on the characteristics of Bragg reflection. The results are of reference values for design of the structures to attenuate waves based on the Bragg reflection.

In this study, the effect of treating 1-dimensional diffusers on the classroom acoustics was investigated to determine if the diffuser are beneficial for performing the preferred acoustical conditions for speech. A 1/10 scale model of a classroom was used to measure the acoustical parameters, T30, $C_{50}$, STI and SNR in that room. The room acoustical conditions were varied by treating diffusers either on the front or side walls of the classroom. When the diffusers were treated on the side walls around the student's areas, a shorter reverberation time at low frequencies was obtained and resulted in performing uniform reverberation times across the frequency bands. The $C_{50}$ values at mid- and high-frequencies were increased by treating the diffusers either on front or side wall surfaces. The highest STI and SNR values were obtained when the diffuser was treated on the front wall around the teacher's areas. It is found that diffusers are beneficial to increase the intelligibility of speech for the rear seats of the rooms.
Radiative charaacteristics of glass windows and porous absorbing media which can be used for a solar air heater are determined through the measurements of spectral transmittances. Those in the visible range are measured by the UV-IR spectrometer. Refractive index of glass are obtained by the comparison of the measured transmittances and the correlations derived from the electromagnetic theory and are compared to the theoretical ones calculated from the classical dispersion theory. Absorption and back-scattering coefficients of 15-mesh stainless wire screens are calcuated by the comparison of the measured transmittances and the correlations derived from the two flux model.
Soils are porous materials with high shielding capability to attenuate gamma and X-rays. The disposal of radionuclides throughout the soil profile can expose the living organisms to ionizing radiation. Thus, studies aiming to analyze the shielding properties of the soils are of particular interest for radiation shielding. Investigations on evaluating the shielding capabilities of highly weathered soils are still scarce, meaning that additional research is necessary to check their efficiency to attenuate radiation. In this study, the radiation shielding properties of contrasting soils were evaluated. The radiation interaction parameters assessed were attenuation coefficients, mean free path, and half- and tenth-value layers. At low photon energies, the photoelectric absorption contribution to the attenuation coefficient predominated, while at intermediate and high photon energies, the incoherent scattering and pair production were the dominant effects. Soils with the highest densities presented the best shielding properties, regardless of their chemical compositions. Increases in the attenuation coefficient and decreases in shielding parameters of the soils were associated with increases in clay, Fe2O3, Al2O3, and TiO2 amounts. In addition, this paper provides a comprehensive description of the shielding properties of weathered soils showing the importance of their granulometric fractions and oxides to the attenuation of the radiation.
This study introduces a method for estimating Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) using Broadband Aerosol Optical Depth (BAOD) derived from direct normal irradiance and meteorological factors observed between 2016 and 2017. Through correlation analyses between BAOD and atmospheric components such as Rayleigh scattering, water vapor, and tropospheric nitrogen dioxide, significant relationships were identified, enabling accurate AOD estimation. The methodology demonstrated high correlation coefficients and low Root Mean Square Errors (RMSE) compared to actual AOD500 measurements, indicating that the attenuation effects of water vapor and the direct impact of tropospheric nitrogen dioxide concentration are crucial for precise aerosol optical depth estimation. The application of BAOD for estimating AOD500 across various time scales-hourly, daily, and monthly-showed the approach's robustness in understanding aerosol distributions and their optical properties, with a high coefficient of determination (0.96) for monthly average AOD500 estimates. This study simplifies the aerosol monitoring process and enhances the accuracy and reliability of AOD estimations, offering valuable insights into aerosol research and its implications for climate modeling and air quality assessment. The findings underscore the viability of using BAOD as a surrogate for direct AOD500 measurements, presenting a promising avenue for more accessible and accurate aerosol monitoring practices, crucial for improving our understanding of aerosol dynamics and their environmental impacts.
We have investigated the optical properties of the global haze on Titan from spectra recorded between 7100 and $9200{\AA}$, where $CH_4$ absorption bands of various intensities occur. The Titan spectra were obtained on Feb. 23, 2005 (UT), near the times of the Cassini T3 flyby and Huygens probe, using an optical echelle spectrograph (BOES) on the 1.8-m telescope at Bohyunsan Observatory in Korea. In order to derive the optical properties of the haze as a function of altitude, we developed an inversion radiative-transfer program using an atmospheric model of Titan and laboratory $CH_4$ absorption coefficients available from the literature. The derived extinction coefficients of the haze increase toward the surface, and the coefficients at shorter wavelengths are greater than those at longer wavelengths for the 30 - 120 km altitude range, indicating that the Titanian haze becomes optically thin toward the longer wavelength range. Total optical depths of the haze are estimated to be 1.4 and 1.2 for the 7270 - $7360{\AA}$ and 8940 - $9150{\AA}$ ranges, respectively. Based on the Huygens/DISR data set, Tomasko et al. (2005) reported total optical depths of 2.5 - 3.5 at $8290{\AA}$, depending on the assumed fractal aggregate particle model. The total optical depths based on our results are smaller than those of Tomasko et al., but they partially overlap with their results if we consider a large uncertainty from possible variations of the $CH_4$ mixing ratio over Titan's disk. We also derived the single scattering albedo of the haze particles as a function of altitude: it is less than 0.5 at altitudes higher than ${\sim}150\;km$, and approaches 1.0 toward the surface. This behavior suggests that, at altitudes above ${\sim}150\;km$, the average particle radius is smaller than the wavelengths, whereas near the surface, it becomes comparable or greater.
