Insulation Characteristic of Waste Sawdust-mixing Concrete (폐톱밥 혼입 콘크리트의 단열특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Saw dust concrete f3r finding out insulation characteristic was tested using test plate $30cm{\times}30cm{\times}5cm$. basically, molds f3r the test of compressive, tensile, normal without sawdust, $0.05\%,\;0.1\%,\;0.2\%,\; 0.4\%,\;0.6\%,\;0.8\%,\;1.0\%,\;1.2\%,\;1.4\%,\;1.6\%,\;1.5\%,\;2.0\%$, mixing proportion. heat conductivity of the saw dust concrete mixed with the above proportion was taken in this study. Thermal conduction of normal concrete depends on mixing proportion strength aggregate character, water content. all these items are specified here in fables. $1.8\%\~2.0\%$ saw-dust mising concrete shows as the faction as normal insulation material has its function. and the higher saw-dust mixing rate becomes, the thermal conduction becomes the less Then, the conclusions are that saw-dust using concrete has better insulation function than normal concrete.

  • Behavior of saw-dust concrete has not studied because many people have thought that saw-dust concrete cannot be applicable for structural member, up to now. This study is to findout how much the concrete can be structurally applicated. 5mm grid sieve was used to select satisfactory sawdust for better concrete quality. Test molds size of ${\phi}10{\times}20cm$ long were made of normal without sawdust, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, 1.0%, 1.2%, 1.4%, 1.6%, 1.8% 2.0%, for making concrete strengh of 180kg, 210kg, 240kg, 270kg which they are normally used in practice presently. A various strengths tests such as compressive splitting tensile, flexible strength behavior of structural member named beam using size of $20{\times}30{\times}120cm$ have been done for the structural aspects. Tensile strength shows that it can be more affected than higher strength of it.

An Experimental Verification on the Development of an Innovative Diamond Wire Saw Cutting Technology (새로운 다이아몬드 와이어 쏘 절단 기술 개발에 관한 실험적 검증)

  • This paper introduces a innovative diamond wire saw cutting technology and its experimental verification that can be utilized for cutting heavy structures. While conventional diamond wire saw cutting technologies such as water cooled cutting method and dry cutting method cause severe environmental problems due to generating massive concrete sludge or dust scattering, the proposed method can eliminate those problems considerably. Through extensive experiments using heavy structure test bed and real bridge pier structure, comprehensive analysis and comparative evaluation about various cutting methods were performed. As a result, the innovative diamond wire saw cutting method could achieve a similar cutting and cooling performance to the water cooled cutting method without generating concrete sludge and it showed an improved cutting and cooling performance to the dry cutting method without dust scattering. Consequently it is confirmed that the suggested cutting technology can be a promising environment-friendly alternative in the field of heavy structure dismantling.

A Study on Properties of Domestic Fly Ash and Utilization as an Insulation material (국산 Fly Ash의 특성 및 단열재로의 이용에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to investigate the properties of domestic fly ash for utilization as data in regard to fly ash which is by-product of domestic coal powder plants and the possibility of utilization as insulation material of domestic fly ash. Composition refractoriness size distribution density contents of hollow particles and crystalline phase were examined as the properties of domestic fly ash. As to the fired test pieces of fly ash by itself that varied contents of hollow particles with four kinds and of the fly ash-clay-saw dust system linear shrinkage bulk density app. porosity compressive strength thermal conductivity and structures were investigated for the possibility of utilization as an insulation material. The results are as follows : 1. The properties of the fly ash I) The constituent particle of the fly ash is spherical and it contains not a few hollow particles (floats by water 0.30-0.50 floats by $ZnCl_2$ aq.(SpG=1.71) 6.97-16.72%). ii) The chemical compositions of fly ash are $SiO_243.9-54.1%$ , $Al_2O_321.0-30.7%$ Ig loss is 7.4-24.1% and the principal of Ig loss is unburned carbon. iii) Fly ash was not suitable to use for mortar and concrete mixture because Ig. loss value is higher than 5% 2. Utilization as insulation material I) The test pieces of original fly ash floats by water floats by ZnCl2 aq(SpG=1.71) p, p t by ZnCl2 aq.(SpG=1.71) that were fired at 110$0^{\circ}C$ represented 0.11-0.18 kcal/mh$^{\circ}$ C as thermal conductivity value. ii) The test pieces which (76.5-85.5) wt% fly ash-(8.5, 9.5) wt% clay-(5.0-15.0) wt% saw dust system(68.0-72.0) wt% fly ash -(17.0-18.0)wt% clay-(10.0-15.0) wt% saw dust system and 59.5 wt% fly ash-25.5 wt% clay-15.0wt% saw dust system were fired at 110$0^{\circ}C$ the thermal conductivity was less than 0.1Kcal/mh$^{\circ}$ C. iii) In view of thermal conductivity and economic aspect insulation materials which added saw dust as blowing agent and clay as inorganic binder are better than that of fly ash as it is or separated hollow fly ash particles. iv) When the saw dust contents increased in the (59.5-90.0) wt% saw dust system and when amount of clay de-creased and firing temperature decreased under the condition of equal addition of saw dust app. porosity increased but bulk density compressive strength and thermal conductivity decreased.

  • Existing study far fire-resistant concrete has been done already. but it is not found out how the waste tyre mixing concrete will be acted against fire. This waste tyre concrete molds under the condition of $0^{\circ}C,\;200^{\circ}C,\;400^{\circ}C,\;600^{\circ}C$ were heated in gas oven. It was worried about that they might be fractured down at about $800^{\circ}C$ so that they can not be tested. compressive strength for the test molds are made with commercially used $180kg/cm^2,\;210kg/cm^2,\;240kg/cm^2,\;270kg/cm^2$ mixing saw dust with proportion such as 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8%, 1.0%, 1.2%, 1.4%, 1.6%, 1.8%, 2.0% compressive strength at $200^{\circ}C$ was approximately 20% from the original, while approximately 30% deoreased at $400^{\circ}C$. their results are not quite different from the normal concrete condition even though they contains saw dust in it. The higher strength the concrete has, the less strength was decreased. There are almost no difference in strength under the condition of less than $400^{\circ}C$, but damage of concrete structure could be considerable large with more than $400^{\circ}C$.

Development of the Pushing Type Cutting Device to Dismantle Concrete Structure for Decommissioning of Nuclear Power Plant (원전해체 시 콘크리트 구조물 절단을 위한 밀기형 절단장치 개발)

  • Pulling-type cutting devices, which use a diamond wire saw, have been used generally for cutting concrete structures. In this study, a pushing-type cutting device with a collection cover was developed by overcoming the disadvantages of pulling-type devices. In this device, dry or liquid methods can be selected to cool frictional heat. Operation and leakage tests of the dust generated during the dismantling of a concrete structure were carried out, confirming the suitable operation of the fabricated cutting device; the leakage rate was approximately 1.7%. For a conservative evaluation, the internal dose of workers was estimated in dismantling the core center part of biological shield concrete with a specific activity of 99.5 Bq·g-1. The committed effective dose per worker was 0.25 mSv. The developed cutting device contributed to reducing radioactive concrete waste and minimizing worker exposure due to its easy installation. Therefore, it can be utilized as a cutting apparatus for dismantling not only reinforced concrete structures but also radioactive biological shield concrete in nuclear power plant decommissioning efforts.

A Model Study on Development of Animal Wastes Treatment System for a Full-time Farm Household Raising Livestock (전업양축농가의 축분뇨처리시스템 개발을 위한 모형실험)

  • A sundry system is one of popular systems for composting livestock manure, of which main honest is to utilize unlimited, clean, and free solar radiation. A sundry system with a composter of two horizontal screw-type concrete ducts at different height, was constructed and operated for three days for each test in May, 1993, to evaluate its composting performance. Four treatments of the mixture ratio of swine manure and saw dust (manure : sawdust= 1 : 1.25, 1 : 1, 1 : 0.7, 1 : 0.5) were implemented to evaluate the effect of the mixture ratio on degradation of the composting materials of a sundry system with a screw-type composter. Maximum temperature of the composting materials was over 5$0^{\circ}C$ at D1 or D2 (one or two days after operation starts) for each test. Mean C/N ratio and water contents of the materials were reduced by more than 15 and 20%, respectively. Microbial density of each test showed a typical variation with the lapse of the composting time. Mesophilic microorganism seemed to play more important role on degradation of the materials than thermophilic. A sundry system with a screw-type composter can be considered as a feasible system on basis of maturity data. The conclusion was completely reverse from that of Choi et at., although both adopted a sundry system. A further study is recommended to pursue the cause of better performance of the screw-type composter, whether it was due to affirmative weather or more efficient composter.
