Antecedents of Group Identification and Its Effects on Within-Domain Consumption

  • Purpose: Current research aimed at exploring whether group entitativity and satisfaction to becoming the member of group have positive effects on group identification, and whether group identification has positive effects on within-in-group domain consumption. This research focused on the mediation role of group identification in the effects of the group entitativity and the satisfaction to becoming the member of group on the within-in-group domain consumption. Research design, data, and methodology: We selected Shandong Province as our experimental target group and people living in Shandong province as our respondents. 316 questionnaire data were collected. The structural equation model in AMOS 26 were used to verify hypotheses. Results: First, group entitativity affected group identification positively. Second, satisfaction to becoming the member of group affected group identification positively. Third, group identification positively influenced on the within-in-group domain consumption. Fourth, the group identification played the full mediation roles in the effects of both the group entitativity and the satisfaction on the within-in-group domain consumption. Conclusions: marketers should highlight the group identification with their target group by stimulating the perception of the consumer's group entitativity and satisfied feelings about the group to induce the intent to purchase their brand as within-in-group domain consumption object.

Factors Affecting Job Satisfaction among the Radiologic Technologists (방사선사의 직무만족에 관련된 요인분석)

  • Job satisfaction is very important for adequate manpower management in the medical field. To study job satisfaction among the radiologic technologists, 344 cases were reviewed in five university hospitals and one general hospital. Self-administered questionnaire was used to study their socioeconomic characteristics, working conditions, job satisfaction, and the factors affecting there Job satisfaction. The results were as follows : 1. There was statistically significant difference in job satisfaction according to the their department of employment, position, and hospital characteristics. 2. The group that was satisfied with their salary had a higher job satisfaction score, whereas others who were not satisfied ranked lower. 3. The positive answering group on the ability and job recognition ranked higher score on the job satisfaction than the negative answering group. 4. The group that was in good relationship with their superiors and co-workers scored higher on job satisfaction From the above results, the job satisfaction was high for the group with positive thinking and reply, but the intentin to change their job was low. Considering the fact that these results represent only 6 hospitals from limited arease, therefore, necessary to include more medical facilities nationwide, especially small-medium sized clinics or hospitals where the difficulty with high turnover rate of employment is expected, to study further various factors involving job satisfaction in the future.

Types of Retirement Satisfaction and Life Satisfaction among Middle and Older Adults: Focusing on Gender Differences (중고령자의 은퇴 만족 유형과 삶의 만족도 : 성별에 따른 차이를 중심으로)

  • This study explored how retirement satisfaction or dissatisfaction influences on retirees' life satisfaction, comparing to workers and the gender differences were examined. The study sample was 2,609 persons (1,886 workers, 723 retirees) aged 45 or older who participated in the 1-2 waves of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA), and the retirees were classified into continuously dissatisfied retirees and satisfied retirees during wave 1 and 2. Using SPSS 21.0, the multiple regression models were examined, and in order to clarify the gender difference, the multi-group analysis and the wald-test were conducted to test the difference of the regression coefficients according to gender using Mplus 7.3. According to the results, the life satisfaction of dissatisfied retirees was lower than that of the employed, but when satisfied with retirement, the life satisfaction was higher than that of the employed. In addition, the dissatisfied retirees in both gender were less satisfied with life than the employed, and this effect was greater in female group. However, the life satisfaction of female satisfied with retirement was higher than that of the employed, whereas the evidence of the male influence was not found to be significant. Based on the results of this study, discussion about heterogeneity of retirees and gender differences in life span were presented.

  • This paper deals with a group acceptance sampling plan for time truncated tests which are based on the total number of failures from the whole group assuming that the life time of an item follows the Dagum (inverse Burr) distribution. This study is developed when a multiple number of items as a group can be tested simultaneously in a tester. The minimum number of groups required for a given group size and acceptance number is determined such that the producer and consumer risks are satisfied simultaneously at the specified quality level, while the termination time and the number of testers are specified. Comparisons are made between the proposed plan and the existing plan on the basis of size of the groups. Two real examples are provided.

  • In ubiquitous computing, shared environments are required to adapt to people intelligently. Based on information about user preferences, the shared environments should be adjusted so that all users in a group are satisfied as possible. Although many group recommender systems have been proposed to obtain this purpose, they only consider average and misery. However, a broad range of philosophical approaches suggest that high inequality reduces social agreeability, and consequently causes users' dissatisfactions. In this paper, we propose social welfare functions, which consider inequalities in users' preferences, as alternative aggregation functions to achieve a social agreeability. Using an example in a previous work[7], we demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed welfare functions as socially agreeable aggregate functions in group recommender systems.

Study of On- and Off-Campus Clinical Practice Satisfaction and Major Satisfaction among Dental Hygiene Students in Some Regions (일부지역 치위생(학)과 학생들의 교내·외 임상실습만족도와 전공만족도에 관한 조사연구)

  • A self-administered survey was conducted on dental hygiene students at colleges or universities in Chungcheong Province to increase the levels of practice for them and provide basic data that could improve their major satisfaction after practice. The data was collected from December 2012 to April 2013 and 766 questionnaires, except for 13 containing insincere responses, were finally analyzed using SPSS/Win18.0. The on- and off-campus practice groups formed 59.7% and 57.4%, respectively. The most frequent place for practice was university dental hospitals, followed in order by hospitals/clinics and health centers. University students were more satisfied with on-campus practice in terms of factors, such as practice contents, practice time, and practice performance than those at three-year colleges. The students in the higher grades were more satisfied with the practice time. The university students were also more satisfied with off-campus practice in terms of all the factors than those at three-year colleges. The students in higher grades were more satisfied with the practice time and practice performance. The on- or off-campus practice group was generally more satisfied with their major than the non-practice group, and each of the factors-practice performance, practice time, practice environment, and practice contents-significantly affected the major satisfaction. The results highlight the need to plan and provide satisfactory education based on an understanding and awareness of students so that they can take pride in their major through on- and off-campus practice. In addition, it is also necessary to develop educational guidelines for clinical practice and efficient programs so that clinical practice can create the optimal learning situation.

The Associated Factors with Whole Saliva Flow Rate and Xerostomia (전타액분비율과 구강건조증의 관련요인 분석)

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the factors related to whole saliva flow and the xerostomia for the ground use of the materials in developing oral health improvement program and life quality improvement program. So, this study performed a questionnaire survey, targeting at 160 adults, older than 40 years, living in Gyeonggi and Incheon provinces from January to February 2011 and measured unstimulated salivary flow rate and stimulated salivary flow rate. The results are as followings. The group of participants who took gums and candies to relieve oral dryness had low stimulated whole saliva flow. The group of participants who graduated from middle schools, who separated by death, who were not healthy with menopause, and who recognized periodontal disease symptoms and tongue burning sensation recognized more symptoms of dry mouth than others. In addition, the group of participants who were not satisfied with life so much, who couldn't feel the meaning of life, and who recognized negative feelings frequently recognized symptoms of dry mouth more. Women, the group of participants who graduated from middle schools, who suffered from depressive symptoms, and who recognized halitosis had low unstimulated whole saliva flow. The group of participants who graduated from middle schools, who were not satisfied with life so much, who couldn't feel the meaning of life, and who were not satisfied with themselves had low stimulated saliva flow.

Design and Performance Evaluation of An Efficient Transmission Rate Allocation Algorhthm for ABR Services in ATM Networks (ATM 망에서 ABR서비스를 위한 효율적인 전송률 할당 알고리즘 설계 및 성능분석)

  • On ATM networks, ABR services are provided using the remained bandwidth after allocating CBR and VBR traffic. Realtime services such as transmitting audio or video data may be provided using CBR and VBR which have a constrained transmission delay, but in these cases, the communications bandwidth may be wasted. This paper proposes an efficient bandwidth allocation algorithm to transfer real-time data using ABR service. The proposed algorithm guarantees MCR and allocates bandwidth to each connection proportional to its MCR. The proposed algorithm divides the connections in two groups - a satisfied state group and a bottlenecked state group - and enhances bandwidth utilization by allowing the remained bandwidth after allocating the connections in the satisfied state to be allocated to the connections in the bottlenecked state. Our algorithm uses a Queue control function proposed by Ghani[5] to keep the Queue length within some boundary, which makes the transmission delay constant. We simulate and compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with that of the algorithms proposed by ATM Forum[1] and Kalampoukas[2].

The Cognition and Attitude for Internal and External Organizational Behavior of Health Centers Staff (보건소조직(保健所組織)의 내(內)·외부적(外部的) 행위(行爲)에 대한 보건소장(保健所長) 및 직원(職員)들의 인식(認識)과 태도(態度))

  • This study was conducted to the cognition and attitude for internal and external organizational behavior of health centers staff. An analytical model employed in this study was developed by modifying 'organizational behavior model'. Data was collected a mail survey of officers at health center, including 66 directors and 1,768 staffs of the health centers in southern region. The major findings are as follows : Among directors of the health centers 47% of them stated that legislators and chief executive officer(CEO) of local governments are highly concerned about the public health program. However only 15.2% of health center directors reported that legislators and CEO put public health high priority. For leadership type of directors 39.0% of them was classified as controller, 30.3% as participant, 22.7% entertaining and 7.6% comprehending. Regarding sociopsychological characteristics of the health center staffs, about a quarter of them had high degree of group cohesion, while 10.7% had low degree. Those staffs who are older, high educational level, or working in the rural health centers showed higher degree of cohesion than those who are young, low educational level, or working in urban health center. A third of them were less likely to be satisfied by what they are doing at the health centers. The higher educational level, the likely to be satisfied by what they are doing at the health centers. The higher educational level, the more satisfied with their job. Considering these results, policy implication was discussed and suggested. It is suggested that educational efforts be made to improve leadership of the health center directors and concern with public health program by the CEOs and legislators of local governments.

Suspected Idiopathic Acute Transverse Myelitis : Retrospective Analysis of 27 Cases (특발성 급성 횡단성 척수염 : 27예의 후향적 분석)

  • Background: Acute transverse myelitis(ATM) is a group of disorders characterized by focal inflammation of the spinal cord and resultant neural injury. It can be diagnosed by Transverse Myelitis Consortium Working Group(TMCWG) criteria. But there are some cases which were not satisfied with idiopathic ATM criteria, both clinically and radiologically, especially in acute stage. So we analyzed 27 cases retrospectively, which were diagnosed as idiopathic ATM. Methods: All the records of the patients at Gil Medical Center with a diagnosis of idiopathic ATM from 2001 to 2005 were reviewed. And clinical manifestations including neurological examination, radiologic features and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) findings were analyzed. Results: Among the patients(20 men and 7 women; mean age, 45.3 years), 11 cases could not be diagnosed as idiopathic ATM according to the TMCWG criteria ; 6 cases did not have well marginated upper sensory level and 5 cases were not satisfied with spinal cord inflammation. Conclusions: Although most cases of suspected idiopathic ATM were suitable for TMCWG criteria, some cases were not satisfied with this diagnostic criteria, especially in acute stage. Subsequent study might be needed to evaluate the reliability and clinical application of the criteria.
