  • Community-based group exercise programs for people with chronic stroke are relatively uncommon in Korea. In addition, it is currently not known whether a community-based group exercise program is effective or not. The purpose of this study was to evaluate an 8 week community-based functional exercise program for its effects on balance performance and occupational performance in persons with chronic stroke. Twenty-five community-dwelling individuals with stroke participated in this program. Outcome of the program was assessed by the Berg Balance Scale and the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). The functional exercise program lasted for eight weeks, with a 1-hour program twice per week and it consisted of mobility, stability, balance, functional strength, and gait training. The subjects were trained by one physical therapist but were under one-to-one supervision from students. The data of sixteen individuals who scored more than 24 on the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) were analyzed. There was a significant effect both in terms of the COPM Performance Score & the Satisfaction Score (p=.002) and with the Berg Balance Score (p=.001). It was found that a short-term community-based exercise program could improve both performance of activities and balance. Further, all subjects reported that they were satisfied with this program.

  • The structure of frontal thunderstorm in winter time is different from that of in summer time over the Korean peninsula, due to dry tongue and upward motion. The dry tongue, that is propagation of dry zone from upper level to lower level, was formed after front passage and the upward motion is intensified by the strengthened low level jet. Since this mechanism makes the structure more unstable, thunderstorm occurs at relatively low cloud top height. This study suggests a forecast guidance of winter time frontal thunderstorm that thunderstorms develop when one of the following conditions are satisfied: 1) total totals (TT) >40, 2) K index >-10, 3) mixing ratio ${\geq}$ 3.5 g/kg.

  • The strategic usages of IT(Information Technology) can convey important competitive advantages with an operational productivity. For this reason, many firms have heavily invested in IT and computing power. However, many companies were getting expected results by IT investment, but some companies had to be satisfied with a poor results. The question of whether or not benefit lead to expected performance is not easy to answer. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among IT strategy, IT investment, and IT performance to resolve this problem. The 147 questionnaire responses completed by IS managers in manufacturing sector was conducted for a test of research hypothesis. ANOVA was used to investigate the relationship among three constructs and six factors. An operational performince of fitted group between IT strategy and IT investment was higher than not fitted group(H1). And also an competitive performance of fitted group between IT strategy and IT investment was higher than not fitted group(H2). The study shows a positive relationship between IT strategic orientation, IT investment direction, and performance of IT. The research results provide empirical evidence that supports the research hypothesis that closer fit between IT strategies and IT investment directions does lead to increase operational and competitive performance of IT.

  • SBD (Strain-based design) of pipe lines have gained world-wide attention in recent years. The present research aims to evaluate the fracture characteristics of API (America Petroleum Institute) SBD X100 girth weldment that typically applied for cold climate and deep water offshore, with the focus on the influence of heat input changing with 6kJ/cm and 10kJ/cm from GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). At a low heat input at 6kJ/cm, the weld metal had Multi-phase matrix (Acicular ferrite + Banite + Martensite) that could fill up both fracture toughness and strength as reported previously. Also, the weld metal exhibited 859MPa YS (Yield strength), 108J impact toughness at $-40^{\circ}C$ and 0.52mm CTOD (Crack Tip Open Displacement) at $-10^{\circ}C$. These results can be satisfied with the requirement of API SBD X100 girth weldment and Alaska pipe line project.

  • The purposes of this study were to identify the attributes of food and service quality, to examine the levels of satisfaction and plate wastes leftover in school meals and to determine the relationship between student satisfaction and plate wastes. A questionnaire was administrated to 1000 elementary students. The respondents comprised of 505 boys and 494 girls. The satisfaction score with the food service quality was rated as 'average', with a score of 3.06 out of 5. The quality attributes of the food service were categorized into three aspects, which included food, service and hygiene. The satisfaction scores for the food- and hygiene-related factors were 3.20 and 3.24, respectively. However, the aspect of service was rated at 2.74, indicating a low level of satisfaction. The intake rates of soup, kimchi, fish and vegetables were lower than those of other types of foods. Two groups, a no-leftovers group and a leftovers group, were classified based on whether students ate all or left foods. The satisfaction scores for the school food service attributes between the two groups revealed that the no-leftovers group was more highly satisfied with the food service quality than the leftovers group (p<0.001).

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the safety of SU-Eohyeol pharmacopuncture (SUEP) by assessing its potential to cause chromosomal abnormalities in Chinese hamster lung cells (CHL/IC). Methods: A dose-curve was conducted to determine the highest dose of SUEP. Doses of 10, 5, 2.5, 1.25, 0.625, and 0.313% were used, and no cytotoxicity or SUEP precipitation was observed. SUEP doses of 10, 5, and 2.5%, with positive and negative controls, were used in a chromosome aberration test. Results: In this study, the frequency of abnormal chromosomal cells in the SUEP group did not show a statistically significant difference from that of the negative control group in short-term treatments with and without metabolic activation and the continuous treatment without metabolic activation. Compared with the negative control group, the positive control group had a significantly higher frequency of cells with structural chromosomal abnormalities. This test's results satisfied all conditions for determining the results. Conclusion: SUEP did not induce chromosomal aberrations under the conditions of this study. Other toxicity evaluations, safety studies in humans, and various clinical trials are required to evaluate the safety and efficacy of SUEP.

  • For the company, the office space is the expensive resource next to human resource. Employees are under the influence of physical characters of the office space. Among them lighting is the most effective factor in physical, biological and psychological for employees. Although there are lots of investments in architectural aspect of the office space, there is almost no investment and consideration about the lighting environment. Therefore this study was trying to find out these things as follow. First, evaluate lighting environment of people who works in the office spaces. Second, find out which factors are more affective in evaluation of lighting environment. And then with these findings this study found what should be considered as important in lighting planning of the office space. As the result of this study, however the majority of the employees are satisfied with current lighting conditions, they are not satisfied with individual operation of lighting. And in office space work type and position changes by age can affect in a large degree more than other factors. Therefore when planning lighting of the office space, it is necessary to figure out work features of Individual and group exactly and accept the difference by positions appropriately.

  • The Zygomatic arch is structurally protruded and is easily fractured. The classic management of zygomatic arch fracture has been mentioned the Keen, Lothrop, Dingman and Ailing and threaded K-wire. All of the above methods have advantages and disadvantages. To minimize the disadvantages, we performed threaded K-wire for the first time using C-arm image intensifier. The subjects were 16 patients with Knight North group II (Zygomatic arch fracture). Among them the C-arm was used in 12 patients and the operator used sensitivity general method in 4 patients and confirmed the operation by mobile X-ray equipment. In conclusion, both groups were satisfied surgically and cosmetically. Using the C-arm, actual image at the time operation was clear and satisfied, the surrounding tissue damage was minimized and at was more accurately completed. The operation time was shortened by 30 to 60 minutes proving it to be an efficient method. We suggest though that further studies be needed to evaluate the radiation effect on these patients.
