Side Face Features' Biometrics for Sasang Constitution (사상체질 판별을 위한 측면 얼굴 이미지에서의 특징 검출)

  • There are four types of human beings according to the Sasang Typology, Oriental medical doctors frequently prescribe healthcare information and treatment depending on one's type, The feature ratios (Table 1) on the human face are the most important criterions to decide which type a patient is. In this paper, we proposed a system to extract these feature ratios from the people's side face, There are two challenges in acquiring the feature ratio: one that selecting representative features; the other, that detecting region of interest from human profile facial image effectively and calculating the feature ratio accurately. In our system, an adaptive color model is used to separate human side face from background, and the method based on geometrical model is designed for region of interest detection. Then we present the error analysis caused by image variation in terms of image size and head pose, To verify the efficiency of the system proposed in this paper, several experiments are conducted using about 173 korean's left side facial photographs. Experiment results shows that the accuracy of our system is increased 17,99% after we combine the front face features with the side face features, instead of using the front face features only.

  • 업무중심이었던 HCI가 인간의 모든 생활 접점에 존재하게 됨에 따라, 과업완료 중심의 HCI의 목표가 사용자 감성 만족, 심리적 만족 등으로 조정되고 있다. 이로 인해 다양한 사용자중심의 디자인 방법론들이 개발/제안되고 있다. 하지만 아직도 대다수의 사용자 중심 HCI관련 연구가 인간을 하나의 도구적 프로세스 관점으로 인식한 개인 특성연구에 치우쳐있다. 본 연구는 위에서 제기된 문제점을 해결하고자 인간의 타고난 성정에 대한 인간의 유형화 방법인 한국사상 사상체질을 제안함과 동시에 SNS상에서의 자기표현 전략에 대해 탐색적인 기초실험연구를 진행하였다. 이 연구는 향후 카카오톡에서의 사상체질에 따른 자기표현방식을 연구하기 위한 실험 모델을 제안하여, 이 두 연구의 비교를 통해 각 미디어가 지닌 특성과 개인적 특성에 따른 자기표현전략을 제안 할 수 있다.

Data mining Algorithms for the Development of Sasang Type Diagnosis (사상체질 진단검사를 위한 데이터마이닝 알고리즘 연구)

  • This study was to compare the effectiveness and validity of various data-mining algorithm for Sasang type diagnostic test. We compared the sensitivity and specificity index of nine attribute selection and eleven class classification algorithms with 31 data-set characterizing Sasang typology and 10-fold validation methods installed in Waikato Environment Knowledge Analysis (WEKA). The highest classification validity score can be acquired as follows; 69.9 as Percentage Correctly Predicted index with Naive Bayes Classifier, 80 as sensitivity index with LWL/Tae-Eum type, 93.5 as specificity index with Naive Bayes Classifier/So-Eum type. The classification algorithm with highest PCP index of 69.62 after attribute selection was Naive Bayes Classifier. In this study we can find that the best-fit algorithm for traditional medicine is case sensitive and that characteristics of clinical circumstances, and data-mining algorithms and study purpose should be considered to get the highest validity even with the well defined data sets. It is also confirmed that we can't find one-fits-all algorithm and there should be many studies with trials and errors. This study will serve as a pivotal foundation for the development of medical instruments for Pattern Identification and Sasang type diagnosis on the basis of traditional Korean Medicine.

Development and Evaluation of an Self-Operated Face Capturing System (자가 안면영상 촬영장치 개발 및 검증)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to develop an apparatus which can take a facial image by self-operated capturing technique. The user can obtain one's facial image immediately after adjusting facial tilt and focusing distance. The system has been designed for classifying Sasang typology based on facial image. Methods : The system is composed of a Webcam, one-way glass mirror and mini LCD. The Webcam takes a facial image which is displayed on the mini LCD. Then the user can see and adjust to the right position in the real time through the image mirror-reflected from the mini LCD. The optical sensor is used to estimate the proper focusing distance. To verify the performance of the system, 11 characteristic points on the facial image are used and compared with high performance DSLR camera(D700) by applying the coefficient of variance and Bland-Altman Plot. Results : The developed system and D700 show enough agreement with the small coefficient of variance to analyse constitutional types with a facial im mage. However, the result of Bland-Altman plot shows that the width parameters have distortions owing to short focusing distance. Conclusions : The system is expected to be utilized on u-healthcare services for home environment after improving the distortion in the width parameters.

A Study on the Characteristics of Pulse Waves according to Eight Principle Pattern Identification in 500 Women (500명 여성을 대상으로 한 팔강변증에 따른 맥파 특성 연구)

  • This study was conducted to find objective diagnostic indicators for the Eight Principle Pattern Identification using a pulse wave analyzer. Typology Complexion Pulse and Symptom data from 500 women over the age of 18 were used. Five experts made a diagnosis of Eight Principle Pattern Identification and divided the subjects into 'Yin-Yang', 'Exterior-Interior', 'Cold-Heat', 'Deficiency-Excess' groups. Their pulse waves were measured in the left and right radial arteries, and it was investigated whether there was a significant difference between groups in the pulse wave parameter values. 'Yin' group showed a significantly lower value in the left radial artery for Ener, Emin, EIX, T4T, T4TT parameters and in the Right for T2, T2T, T5. The Vmag, As and Ad parameters were significantly different between the 'Exterior' and 'Interior' groups. 'Heat' group showed a significantly higher value in the right radial artery for RAI/t parameter. 'Deficiency' group showed a significantly higher value in the right radial artery for W, Angl parameters. Through this study, significant pulse wave parameters were found, and they can be used as objective diagnostic indicators for Eight Principle Pattern Identification.

Effects of OnDam-TanghapChongMyoung-Tang and DoDam-TanghapChongMyoung-Tang on Protecting Microglia and Inhibiting Acetylcholinesterase and Oxidants (온담탕합총명탕(溫膽湯合聰明湯)과 도담탕합총명탕(導痰湯合聰明湯)의 microglia 보호, 항산화 및 acetylcholinesterase 억제효과)

  • This experiment was designed to investigate the effect of the ODTCMT and DDTCMT extract on protecting microglia and inhibiting acetylcholinesterase and oxidants. The effects of the ODTCMT and DDTCMT extract on cell death of BV2 microglial cell line treated by $IFN-{\gamma}$ ; expression of NO, ROS in BV2 microglial cell line treated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) ; AChE activity in PC-12 cell treated by NGF were investigated, respectively. The ODTCMT and DDTCMT extract significantly increased cell viability in BV2 microglial cell line treated with $IFN-\nu$. The ODTCMT and DDTCMT extract suppressed the NO and RDS production in BV2 microglial cell line treated by LPS. The ODTCMT and DDTCMT extract groups also showed inhibition of AChE activity in PC-12 cell line. According to the above result, it is suggested that the ODTCMT and DDTCMT extract might be usefully applied for prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
