Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the relevance of Sasang constitution, Qi Blood pattern identification, and tongue diagnosis in subjects complaining of fatigue.Methods Seventy-three subjects who complained of fatigue were assessed using the Chalder Fatigue Scale, tongue diagnosis, pattern identification questionnaire and Sasang constitution diagnosis. The association of tongue diagnosis with Qi Blood pattern identification and Sasang constitution was evaluated.Results 1. There was no significant association between tongue diagnosis and Sasang constitution.2. Tongue color, which is one of the diagnostic indicators in tongue diagnosis, was redder in the Qi stagnation group than in the Qi deficiency and Blood deficiency groups.Conclusions Tongue diagnosis can be utilized in future if proper research regarding Sasang constitution and Sasang constitution pattern identification is conducted.

1. Objectives This study is written to investigate the biblographical facts on the book ${\ulcorner}$ Geumge Bibang${\lrcorner}$(Secret Prescriptions of Sasang (Golden Box). 2. Methods The Biblographical study through chronological research of several books concerning Sasang Constitutional Medicine including ${\ulcorner}$Dongyisusebowon${\lrcorner}$,${\ulcorner}$Dongyisasangjintyoeuijeon${\lrcorner}$after Dr. Lee Je-Ma's death was accomplished. 3. Results and Conclusions There are so many herb medicines using just one herb drug not several herb drugs according to many diseases in this book. Accrording to the writer of this book, Lee Min- Bong, JUSt one herb drug to each disease was a useful way to treat that disease in a poor countryside life. There are 85 adult's diseases, 8 women's diseases, 47 children's disease, 11 smallpox's diseases and 30 grotesque diseases. This book of ${\ulcorner}$Geumgebibang${\lrcorner}$ was written by Lee Minbong not by Cheondeoksanin in 1935 and published in 1936 and it was the first book covering the herb drug and diets to treat diseases according to Sasang Constitutional Types. It was first found in this book that Sasang could be explained with Yin- Yang relationship and Sasang Constitutional Types could be explained with characters like dragon, cow, donkey and horse, and with classrncatibn of faces and behaviors.

1. Objectives The purpose of this study is to objectify the diagnosis of Sasang Constitution. Using the methods of this study, it will improve to classificate Sasang Constitution. 2. Methods 1) Automatic feature extraction of human frontal faces for Sasang Constitution classification. 2) Color feature extraction of human frontal faces (1)Erosion filtering (skin-white, the other-black) (2) Median median 3. Results and Conclusions Observing a person's shape has been the major method for Sasang Constitution classification, which usually has been dependent upon doctor's intuition as of these days. We are developing an automatic system which provides objective basic data for Sasang Constitution classification. For this, in this paper, firstly, the signal processing techniques are applied to automatic feature extraction of human frontal faces for Sasang Constitution classification. The experiment is conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed system.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors contributing to the classification of Sasang Constitution using Sasang Constitutional Analysis Tool 2. Methods A total of 99 subjects were assessed for the classification of Sasang Constitution using four measurement factors (face, voice, body shape, and questionnaire information) of Sasang Constitutional Analysis Tool 2. Results Taeeumin had significantly higher body weight and BMI. In the result of the agreement between the judgment of the four measurement factors and the final judgment of Sasang Constitution, the agreement degree of Soeumin was the highest value of 2.6. Taeeumin, Soeumin, and Soyangin showed the highest agreement with the individual judgment of face, body shape and questionnaire, and body shape, respectively. Conclusions It is difficult to conclude that any individual factor contributes significantly to the classification of Sasang Constitution. Further study on Sasang Constitutional Analysis Tool 2 involving more peoples is needed in order to determine the factors contributing to the classification of Sasang Constitution.

Objectives This study aims to know the coefficient of five Sasang constitution diagnosis factors' concordance in and among Oriental Medical Clinics, which are important to diagnose Sasang constitution, 2. Methods We collected 701 subjects in Oriental Medical Clinics, who were diagnosed by experts, and they marked the priority order of Sasang constitutional factors in paper. 3. Results 1) The concordance of priority order about Sasang constitutional factors was significantly associated within Oriental Medical Clinics. 2) The concordance of priority order of Sasang constitutional factors was not significantly associated among 12 Oriental Medical Clinics, so we find out that each medical clinics has a different point of view of deciding the rank of diagnosis factors. 3) We show that the factor of Sasang constitutional drug response was the most important one to confirm Sasang constitution and factors have a different order according to clinic type and qualification of experts 4. Conclusions Sasang constitution expect has their own view in diagnosis priority order and that was different among them.

The Sasang Constitutional Examination, which is a medical treatment for Korean medicine, is a insurance non-coverage item. It is necessary to diagnose the constitution for medical treatment and to know the health regimen according to the constitution. We plan this project in order to expand the insurance guarantee reinforcement for Sasang Constitutional Examination and Counselling. This study was to investigate the status of insurance coverage and non-coverage items and to investigate objectivity and standardization of Sasang Constitutional Examination and Counselling. In addition, according to medical field, the items of Sasang Constitutional Examination and Counselling were divided. We reviewed the status of constitutional health care services and applied it to the financial budget for the medical care costs. Finally we propose Sasang Constitutional Examination and Counseling of Korean Medicine Act Classification (plan) and propose Insurance Coverage of Sasang Constitutional Examination and Counselling (plan).

1. Objectives This study aims to find out the factors that affect to healthy level according to Sasang Constitutions by comparing THI health state with Sasang Health Index. 2. Methods One hundred twenty one healthy students from Korean oriental medical colleges participated in this study. We used the Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II(QSCC II) and expert opinion to diagnose Sasang Constitution, and used Sasang Health Index and THI questionnaire to take health information about Sasang Constitution, from 121 people of Sasang Constitution Information Bank. 3. Results 1) The 'Good Sweat' in Taeumin health level was higher than others, especially in case of 'Refreshness after Sweat' and the 'Good Feces' also higher in case of 'Much Volume in Defecation' 'Regularity in Defecation' 'Refreshness after Evacuation'. 2) The 'Good Feces' in Soyangin health level was higher than others, especially in case of 'Thickness'. 3) The 'Good Digestion' in Soeumin health level was not significantly higher than others. 4) The better symptoms in 'Good Sweat', the better health in Taeumin. 4. Conclusions Sasang Constitution Health Level is significantly related with Sasang Health Index.

Objectives Rate of gastroesophageal reflux disease accompanied by irritable bowel syndrome is on the increase. This case study reports significant improvement of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and irritable bowel syndrome who had suffered from chest pain, globus pharyngis and diarrhea after taking Sasang constitutional treatment. Methods This patient was diagnosed as Large Yin type Esophagus Cold pattern(Taeeumin Wiwanhanjeung). Herb medicine(Jowiseungcheong-tang) was taken by the patient, three or two times per day during treatment periods. We assessed the changes of the main symptoms such as chest pain, globus pharyngis, defecation discomfort, insomnia et al. using visual analogue scale(VAS). Results The symptoms of chest pain, globus pharyngis, defecation discomfort, insomnia decreased from VAS 7~8 to VAS 0~1 for about three months. Conclusions This case shows that Sasang constitutional medicine treatment can be effective treatment method for gastroesophageal reflux disease accompanied by irritable bowel syndrome.

1. Objective To investigate characteristics of menstrual patterns according to Sasang Constitutional disease, and to utilize for diagnosis and treatment of Sasang Constitutional disease. 2. Method The recruited subjects were 430 women who convinced their Sasang Constitution by taking herbal medicine and improving of chief complaint. The items of data contain age at menarche, age at menopause, menstrual cycle, menstrual duration, cyclic regularity of menstruation, severity of menstrual pain, the worst day of menstrual pain, type of menstrual pain, amount of menstruation. 3. Results 1) Severity of menstrual pain, the worst day of menstrual pain, menstrual pain accompanied with nausea were significant among Sasang Constitutional diseases. 2) In Bae-chu-pyo-byeong disease (背椎表病證), Wi-wan-han disease (胃院寒證), So-eum disease (少陰證) and Tae-eum disease (太陰證), menstrual pain was severer than other diseases. 3) In Hae-yeok disease and So-yang-sang-pung disease (少陽傷風證), the worst day of menstrual pain was a day before menstruation. In Hyung-gyeok-yeol disease (胸膈熱證), Tae-eum disease (太陰證), So-eum disease (少陰證), the frequency of a day after menstruation in the worst day of menstrual pain was higher than other diseases. In Wi-wan-han disease (胃院寒證), Mang-yang disease (亡陽證), the frequency of two day after menstruation in the worst day of menstrual pain was higher than other diseases. 4) In So-yang-sang-pung disease (少陽傷風證), Mang-eum disease (亡陰證), Eum-heo-o-yeol diasese (陰虛午熱證), Ul-gwang disease (鬱狂證), Tae-eum disease (太陰證), So-eum disease (少陰證), the frequency of menstrual pain accompanied with nausea were higher than other diseases. 4. Conclusion Menstrual patterns, especially menstrual pain is different among Sasang Constitutional diseases. Assessing menstrual pain can be used for diagnosing Sasang Constitutional diseases, deciding treatment course, determinating prognosis.

1. Objectives The purpose of nursing is to promote health and well-being for all persons. It is connected with Sasang Constitution theory have regard for viewpoint by other's a special quality & individual difference. A nursing is helping behavior to recover health, disease protection & self care ability through health education. There is need for Oriental nursing research continually. 2. Methods This study attempted to develop a fundamental nursing theory for Sasang Constitution on the focus "Dongyi Soose Bowon Sasang Chobongyun". Because the book is important to understand Lee Je-ma's early medical mind and thinking. 3. Results and Conclusions The Sasang Constitution theory lay great emphasis upon health caring medicine to promote health according to self Constitution at normal times, preventive medicine to manage byself body and mind in ordinary times. The way of Sasang Constitutional Nursing Theory is expected to set up a landmark stone in Korean nursing. It is also can product a new nursing theory. In view of 'Nature and Order' is explained inborned general human being who were gifted from nature. On the other hand, in view of 'Knowledge and Deed' based on Constitutions are explained autonomical human being. There are depend on independant control and make efforts themselves or not. It have a connected in four paradigm (human- environment-health- nursing) of nursing theory. The history taking stage claim caring of sick-people before. The ways of assesment for sick-people have to know a process of illness.
