In this paper, we derive and analyze the channel capacity of the spread spectrum watermarking (SSW) system as an information-theoretic point of view in closed-form approximation formula in order to analyze the effect of the wireless multipath/shadowing channel. It is important to analyze the channel capacity to transmit an additive data through existing wireless channel by the SSW system. From the results, we confirm that the channel capacity of the SSW system can be determined by the HWR, WNR, PN length and host sampling frequency. Also, we verified that the variation of the channel capacity when the SSW system applied to Nakagami-m fading and Log-normal shadowing channel. The results of this paper can be applied to general spread spectrum watermarking system.

A study on comparison of standard charcoal tube method, infrared gas analyzer, and detector tube method were conducted. Measurements were performed simultaneously at same sampling points in an air chamber containing benzene, toluene and xylene vapors. Charcoal tube samles were collected at sampling flowrates of 0.05, 0.2, 0.5, and 1.0 1pm. Results are as follows : 1. Coefficients of variation of results with charcoal tube method for bezene, toluene and xylene mixture vapor were 14.34 % in benzene(0.28-11.12 ppm), 9.20 % in toluene (2.68-135.09 ppm) and 10.21 % in xylene (2.56-82.64 ppm), respectively. 2. Results of infrared gas analyzer in mixture air were non-specific on benzene and toluene. Ratio of results of infrared gas analyzer to those of charcoal tube on benzene, toluene and xylene were 696.4 %, 30.3 % and 36.6 %, respectively. 3. Ratio of responses of detector tubes to those of charcoal tube were 49.4 % in benzene, 22.1 % in toluene and 223.9 % in xylene. Xylene detector tube were interfered by toluene greately. 4. Collection efficiencies of charcoal tubes at low concentraton(benzene : 1 ppm, toluene : 10 ppm, xylene : 10 ppm) were stable on various flowrate from 0.05 to 1.0 1pm, but at high concentrations the efficiency decreased at high flowrate above 0.5 1pm. 5. Within the saturation capacity of charcoal, collection effiency decreased at 0.5-1.0 1pm. Smpling feowrates of 0.05-0.20 1pm were appropriate for sampling organic vapors.

The Housing Act amended allows vertical extension up to three floors and increases the units of housing (or total floor area) to site up to 15%. Currently, the feasibility of performing vertical extension is evaluated based on safety diagnosis provisions and manuals with preliminary investigations on slope, uneven settlement, load-bearing capacity, and durability. However, a need for more reasonable evaluation methodology for the preliminary investigation is still required because the current procedures are borrowed from safety diagnosis provisions and manuals for reconstruction without detailed examinations on evaluation criteria and sampling methods. Accordingly, this study is intended to suggest a method to obtain feasible sampling size for durability assessment by statistically analyzing the safety evaluation data sets on concrete carbonation and steel corrosion obtained from apartment complexes. The results of this study are expected to be beneficial for establishing more reasonable field sampling size, and in turn, more reliable durability assessment protocol for vertical extension.

Objective: This study is intended to design a commercially available passive sampler and conduct performance test on its use as a media for evaluating a working environment. Methods: This study was conducted to select adsorbents, design models, and evaluate storage stability and sampling rates for the development of new types of passive samplers. Results: The impurity detection, adsorbent capacity and breakthrough volume of five types of activated carbon were tested for selection of an adsorbent. One product was selected in consideration of the efficiency of purchase. A number of passive samplers were designed in a radial style and a badge style using plastic as a material. The final two prototypes were made using molds or 3D printing. For the storage stability evaluation, samples were stored at different temperature for 1~21 days and then analyzed. Most of the chemicals had excellent storage stability when refrigerated. However, some chemicals such as dichloromethane and methyl ethyl ketone need to be analyzed as soon as possible after sampling. Conclusion: In this study, new types of passive samplers for 66 chemical compounds were developed. The evaluation of storage stability and sampling rates showed different results depending on the properties of the chemical substance. For some chemicals such as methyl ethyl ketone and dimethylformamide, activated carbon is inappropriate as an absorbent. In future studies, additional experiments are required on chemicals that are difficult to collect with activated carbon.
In active sonar system, aspect angle and length of a target can be estimated by calculating the cross-correlation between left and right split-beams of a LFM(Linear Frequency Modulated) signal. However, high-resolution performances in bearing and range are required to estimate the information of a remote target. Because a certain higher sampling frequency than the Nyquist sampling frequency is required in this performance, an over-sampling process through interpolation method should be required. However, real-time implementation of split-beam processing with over-sampled split-beam outputs on a COTS(commercial off-the-shelf) DSP platform limits its performance because of given throughput and memory capacity. This paper proposes a cumulative processing algorithm for split-beam processing to solve the problems. The performance of the proposed method was verified through some simulation tests. Also, the proposed method was implemented as a real-time system using an ADSP-TS101.

This paper implements a long-term monitoring system (LMS) for ship's engine performance analysis (SEPA) based on the web, for the purpose of the communication speed and engine maintenance. This system is composed of a simulator, monitoring module with a multi channel A/D converter, monitoring computer, network attached storage (NAS), RS485 serial and wireless internet communication system. The existing products monitor the information transmitted from pressure sensors installed in the upper parts of each of engines in the local or web computer, but have a delay in the communication speed and errors in long-term monitoring due to the large volume of sampling pressure data. To improve these problems, the monitoring computer saves the sampling pressure data received from the pressure sensors in NAS, monitors the long-term sampling data generated by the sectional down sampling method on a local computer, and transmits them to the web for long-term monitoring. Because this method has one tenth of the original sampling data, it will use memory with small capacity, save communication cost, monitor the long-term sampling data for 30 days, and as a result, make a great contribution to engine maintenance.
Dynamic thermal rating of the overhead transmission lines is affected by many uncertain factors. The ambient temperature, wind speed and wind direction are the main sources of uncertainty. Measurement uncertainty is an important parameter to evaluate the reliability of measurement results. This paper presents the uncertainty analysis based on Monte Carlo. On the basis of establishing the mathematical model and setting the probability density function of the input parameter value, the probability density function of the output value is determined by probability distribution random sampling. Through the calculation and analysis of the transient thermal balance equation and the steady- state thermal balance equation, the steady-state current carrying capacity, the transient current carrying capacity, the standard uncertainty and the probability distribution of the minimum and maximum values of the conductor under 95% confidence interval are obtained. The simulation results indicate that Monte Carlo method can decrease the computational complexity, speed up the calculation, and increase the validity and reliability of the uncertainty evaluation.

This paper develops practical and realistic reliability models and methods for the evaluation of system-reliability and system reliability-based rating of various types of box-girder bridge superstructures. The strength limit state model for box-girder bridges suggested in the paper are based on not only the basic flexural strength but also the strength interaction equations which simultaneously take into account flexure, shear and torsion. And the system reliability problem of box-girder superstructure is formulated as parallel-series models obtained from the FMA(Failure Mode Approach) based on major failure mechanisms or critical failure states of each girder. In the paper, an improved IST(Importance Sampling Technique) simulation algorithm is used for the system reliability analysis of the proposed models. This paper proposes a practical but rational approach for the evaluation of capacity rating in terms of the equivalent system-capacity rating corresponding to the estimated system-reliability index which is derived based on the concept of the equivalent FOSM(First Order Second Moment) form of system reliability index. The results of the reliability evaluation and rating of existing bridges indicate that the reserved reliability and capacity rating at system level are significantly different from those of element reliability or conventional methods especially in the case of highly redundant box-girder bridges.

In this paper, we derive the channel capacity in order to transmit an additional data by using digital watermarking method in generalized-K fading channel. Spread spectrum watermarking is one of the digital watermarking methods which is the most promising technique due to it's very robustness to the channel noise and easy achieving of the signal detection by correlators at the receiver. It is important to analyze the channel capacity to transmit an additional data through wireless channel because the transmitted data would be affected by the channel fading effects. From the results, we confirm that the channel capacity of the SSW system can be determined by the HWR, WNR, PN length and host sampling frequency. Also, we verified that the level of HWR and WNR can be determined by the derived capacity formula. The results of this paper can be applied to general spread spectrum watermarking system.
