The Reinforced concrete structure is deteriorated in durability due to various deterioration factors such as acid, salt, etc., and thus requires repair and reinforcement. In this study, compressive strength and weight change were measured by substituting blast furnace slag with excellent chemical resistance. As a result, the decrease in compressive strength decreased in proportion to the blast furnace slag substitution rate, and in the case of BFS40, the strength increased after sulfuric acid immersion. The weight change also decreased in proportion to the replacement amount.

In this study, we evaluated the feasibility and performance of LCD waste glass as a replacement for cement by using LCD waste glass powder which is generated from manufacturing process due to development of LCD industry. Experiments were carried out by replacing 10% and 20% cement of LCD waste glass with particle size of $12{\mu}m$ of LCD waste glass with OPC and particle size of $5{\mu}m$, respectively. Through experiments, basic properties, mechanical properties and durability of concrete were evaluated. Experimental results show that the compressive strength is high at 10% replacement ratio compared to 20%. The lower the particle size, the higher the strength. The durability test evaluated the chloride penetration performance through the chloride ion diffusion coefficient. The higher the substitution rate and the smaller the particle size, the lower the chloride ion diffusion coefficient and the better the OPC than the all substitution rate. As a result, LCD waste glass concrete with low granularity and proper replacement ratio is considered to be advantageous for durability under salt environment.
We investigated natural habitat of seagrass and created replacement habitat to monitor for restoration of the habitat which is expected to be damaged at Cheonseong harbor in Busan. Depth of water for natural seagrass habitat at Cheonseong harbor was 1.2~3.1 m and the water temperature was 7.4℃, salt concentration was 29.1 psu and pH was 8.05 in January, 2013. The density of seagrass was 167.1±16.4 shoots m-2, the total length was 48.5±18.1 cm, the height of sheath was 9.1±2.8 cm and the width of leaf was 4.8±1.1 cm, respectively. We transplanted in December 2014 and monitored the habitat during 9 months after transplanted. In the beginning, the density of seagrass was decreased to 8.5 shoots patch-1 in January and was increased to 19.0 shoots patch-1 in April. The total height were 73.3±2.9~121.3±6.1 cm, the length of sheath were 9.6±0.6-21.0±1.2 cm, the width of leaf were 5.7±0.1~6.8±0.2 mm. It showed that all values were increased steadily until July and was decreased rapidly in August. Flowering shoot, which was not observed in the beginning of transplanting, started to be spotted in March and was continued to be seen during the monitoring period. We were able to observe seedling of germinated seagrass in seeds in the replacement habitat next year.
Chloride ion inside concrete destroys the so-called passive film surrounding reinforcing bars inside concrete so that the so-called salt attack accelerates corrosion which is the most critical factor for durability as well as structural safety of reinforced concrete structures. Recently, as a solution of the salt attack, the ground granulated blast-furnace slag(GGBFS) have been used as binder or blended cement more extensively. In this paper, characteristics of chloride ion diffusion for the GGBFS concrete, which is known to possess better resistance to damage due to the chloride ion penetration than ordinary portland cement(OPC) concrete possesses, are analyzed and a chloride ion diffusion model for the GGBFS concrete is proposed by modifying an existing diffusion model for the OPC concrete. The proposed model is verified by comparing diffusion analysis results using the model accelerated chloride penetration test results for concrete specimens as well as field test results for an RC bridge pier. Then, an optimal resistance condition to chloride penetration for the GGBFS concrete is obtained according to degrees of fineness and replacement ratios of the GGBFS concrete. The result shows that the GGBFS concrete has better resistance to chloride ion penetration than OPC concrete has and the resistance is more affected by the replacement ratio than the degree of fineness of the GGBFS.
The ground pork patties were made to add two level of sodium chloride(2.5%, 3.0%) and replace part(50%) of the sodium chloride(NaCl) with either potassium chloride(KCl), magnesium chloride(MgCl2) or calcium chloride(CaCl2). These samples were analyzed for their chemical composition, VBN value, TBA value, microbial counts, and cooking loss. The ground pork with NaCl 2.5% was more desirable in saltness than the ground pork with NaCl 3.0%. Replacing 50% of the sodium chloride with potassium chloride was more desirable to flavor, color, juiciness, and overall acceptability than replacing 50% of the sodium chloride with either magnesium chloride or calcium chloride. The ground pork with NaCl 2.5% or NaCl 1.25% +KCI 1.60% had higher pH value than the ground pork with NaCl 1.25% +MgCl2 0.67% or NaCl 1.25% +CaCl2 0.79%. The ground pork with the ground pork with NaCl 2.5% had lower VBN value than the ground pork with either NaCl 1.25%+KCI 1.60%, NaCl 1.25% + MgCl2 0.67%, or NaCl 1.25% +CaCl2 0.79%. The ground pork with NaCl 1.25% + CaCl2 0.67% had higher increase in total colony count than the ground pork with NaCl 2.5% or NaCl 1.25% + CaCl2 0.79%. Cooking loss of ground pork with NaCl 2.5% was lowest and cooking loss of ground pork with NaCl 1.25% + KCl 1.60% was highest. Potassium chloride would not be a substitute for sodium chloride in cooking loss and total colony count but potassium chloride more closely approximated the sensory properties of sodium chloride than either magnesium chloride or calcium chloride.
Goryeong Yangjeondong Petroglyph on the joint face of the bedrock (6m in width, 3m in height) composed of the green sandstone has circles and shield pattern sculptures. The rock is mainly composed of quartz, feldspar, chlorite, illite and calcite with the clay minerals. These clay minerals occur as pore lining, replacement of component and pore fillings. Investigated the weathering aspects including the connection between soluble salt and rock weathering and the stability of the bedrock with petroglyphs. The Major deterioration aspect are grain peel-off, surface exfoliation, cracks and damage. And the bedrock where the joints and cracks advance is interpreted with the fact that has the possibility of the falling rock. For conservation, adhesive need to cover crack and damage and consolidation is necessary in the surface which becomes weak.
The mechanical properties and durability of concrete pavements may be degraded in extreme situations, resulting in the need for partial repair or total replacement. During the past few decades, there has been a growing body of research on substituting a portion of Portland cement with alternative cementitious materials for improving concrete properties. In this study, two different configurations of powdered and granulated blast furnace slag were implemented, replacing fine aggregates (by 12 wt.%) and Portland cement (by 0, 20, 40, and 60 wt.%) in the making of roller-compacted concrete (RCC) mixes. The specimens were fabricated to investigate the mechanical properties and durability specifications, involving freeze-thaw, salt-scaling, and water absorption resistance. The experimental results indicated that the optimum mechanical properties of RCC mixes could be achieved when 20-40 wt.% of powdered slag was added to concrete mixes containing slag aggregates. Accordingly, the increases in compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths were 45, 50, and 28%, in comparison to the control specimen at the age of 90 days. Also, incorporating 60 wt.% of powdered slag gave rise to the optimum mix plan in terms of freeze-thaw resistance such that a negligible strength degradation was experienced after 300 cycles. In addition, the optimal moisture content of the proposed RCC mixtures was measured to be in the range of 5 to 6.56%. Furthermore, the partial addition of granulated slag was found to be more advantageous than using entirely natural sand in the improvement of the mechanical and durability characteristics of all mixture plans.
To prepare a new type of fish sauce from skipjack scrap, it was examined the effect of koji on the sauce flavor, conditions of low salt fish sauce processing and the changes of taste com-pounds during its fermentation. To prepare the skipjack scrap sauce, chopped skipjack head paste was mixed with $6.6\%$ skipjack viscera, $26.9\%$ koji, $71\%$ of $25\%$ brine, $13.3\%$ salt and $7.6\%$ glucose, and fermented at $25\pm4^{\circ}C$ for 90 days. The same process was also carried out to prepare the low salt skipjack scrap sauce adding $7.6\%$ sorbitol, $0.3\%$ lactic acid and $9.8\%$ ethyl alcohol instead of $13.3\%$ salt. The major free amino acids in the products were glutamic acid, Iysine, valine, phenylalanine, alanine, leucine and isoleucine at 90 days of fermentation. And the contents of total free amino acids in both products were 3,307mg/00m1, 3,637.1mg/100m1 at 90 days of fermentation. The predominating non-volatile organic acids showed in the products were lactic acid, succinic acid, pyroglutamic acid, which were $90\%$ over contents of the total non-volatile organic acids. Total non-volatile organic acid contents in both products were 1,002.1mg/100ml, 1,312.9mg/100m1 at 90 days of fermentation. During fermentation of sauce, ADP, AMP and IMP were decreased, while inosine and hypoxanthine were increased. The major taste compounds of the products were rove진ed free amino acids and non-volatile organic acids. The nucleotides and their related compounds, total creatinine, betaine, TAMO and sugar were seemed to be having an auxiliary role in taste of those products. Fishy odor in skipjack scrap sauce can be improved by adding koji. And the low salt skipjack scrap sauce ($9.12\%$ of salt contents) can be prepared by the replacement of a part of salt with sorbitol, lactic acid and ethyl alcohol. From the results of sensory evaluation and chemical experiments, the skipjack scrap sauce products supposed to be at least equal to the sold soy sauce on the market in quality.
Sucrose, glucose, starches hydrolyzates and raw starchy materials hydrolyzates were caramelized using various catalysis and the caramel products were analysed, in order to carry out the basic research for the replacement of caramel coloring. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. The caramel which was manufactured by sucrose syrup being pH 3.5 adjusted by sulfuric acid showed strong color intensity and hue as well as good stability in the solutions of table salt, tannin and alcohol. 2. The product caramelized from sucrose syrup being pH 9.5 adjusted by sodium carbonate showed very strong color intensity and black color component, and was quite stable in alcohol solution but not in table salt and tannin solutions. 3. The caramel products made from sucrose syrup using ammonium salts of strong acid like $NH_4Cl$ and $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ as catalyst showed strong color intensity and black color component but hazy apparence in solution of table salt, tannin and alcohol. 4. The product caramelized from glucose syrup being pH 9.5 adjusted by sodium carbonate indicated strong color intensity but weak red color component and was transparent in solution of table salt and alcohol but hazy in tannin solution. 5. In glucose caramel using $NH_4Cl$, $(NH_4)_2SO_4$, $(NH_4)_2CO_3$ and $(NH_4)_2SO_3$ as catalyst, $NH_4Cl$ plot was very weak in color intensity and insufficient in red color component but stable in solution of table salt, tannin and alcohol. In the case of $(NH_4)_2CO_3$, $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ and $(NH_4)_2SO_3$ plots, all products were strong in color intensity but little insufficient in red color component. On the stability in solutions, $(NH_4)_2SO_3$ plot was stable in two solutions expect tannin solution, $(NH_4)_2CO_3$ plot was only stable in alcohol solution and $(NH_4)_2SO_3$ plot was only stable in table salt solution. 6. When the acid hydrolyzed starch syrups without neutralization were caramelized using $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ as catalyst, the potato starch hydrolyzate caramel showed higher in color intensity being similar to its of glucose caramel than sweet potato starch hydrolyzate caramel and corn starch hydrolyzate caramel. 7. Dried sweet potato powder, dried acorns powders, the acorns (from Q. serrata THUNB and Q. acutissima CARR.) powders extracted with water for 7 days and with 50% alcohol solution for 24 hrs were hydrolyzed by sulfuric acid in autoclave at $3.5kg/cm^2$ as pressure for 60 mins, and were caramelized using $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ as catalyst. It was supposed that all of those products were poor quality on color and stability in solutions at the viewpoint of food coloring matter.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the development of educational material in Korean for patient3 being discharge after open heart surgery. The subjects were 45 adult patients who were seen in the out -patient department of the thoracic surgery unit of P University hospital between February 1993 and May 1993. The data were collected through a chart review and interview. Nursing needs, and the patients status related to diet, activity, medication, physical and psychoemotional limitations were analyzed. The results are summarized as follows ; 1. Mitral valve replacement was the most frequent type of surgery(91.2%). In most cases, a mechanical valve was used (91.0%) . The duration of admission after the operation was two to four weeks for most of the patients(48.9%). The follow-up period was between one and two years for 28.9% of the patients and below 6 years for all of the patients. 2. Many Patients didn’t know the importance of a low salt diet(57.8%), and did not get any education on low salt diet (66.7%). Gimchi was included as one of the most commonly ingested foods (77.8%). All of the patients indicated nursing needs related to education about low salt diets and further they indicated a major interest in foods that are harmful (57.7%) or foods that are safe(51.1% ). 3. Most patients did not recognize the need for limitations on physical activity(84.4%). Further, 31.1% of them could not return to work at the time of the study. All patients had nursing needs related to physical activity, with the most frequent questions being about the permissble degree of activity and special cautions dictated by their illness (60.0%). 4. Many patients were ignorant of the necessity of medication(55.6%) . Forty percent of the patients were taking additional drugs, usually herb drugs. The time and duration of medication and the side effects of drugs were common concerns (57.7%) related to nursing. needs about medication and were mentioned by all of the patients. 5. All of the patients complained of physical discomfort including the following : memory disturbance(62.2%), weight gain(60.0%), chest tightness (55.6%), hair loss(51.1%), sleep disturbance(46.7%) and other symptoms in that order of frequency. Nursing needs related to physical condition were a concern for all of them. The viability and function of the replaced valve(53.3%) and weight gain(60.0%) were mal or concerns. 6. Looking at their psychoemotional condition it was found that 36 patients(80.0%) were emotionally unstable. The causes were physical discomfort(17 patients), insufficient knowlege of open heart surgery(6 patients), fear of death(6 patients), familial over protection(2 patients ) and lack of support (5 patients).
