  • There are limitations to the manager's investigation of all damage sites and establishment of management plan in terms of manpower and cost. Community mapping can be used to overcome these problems with the information. However, it is difficult to make decisions when multiple information are registered in multiple areas of damage. Because community mapping information are registered only with pictures and simple contents, it is so difficult for the manager to clearly understand the site situation. This study suggests a methodology to support decision-making processes during disaster management through system integration between the community mapping and the drone mapping. By applying the proposed method, decision makers can make a timely judgment effectively on the damage situation. It is expected that the proposed method will save time, manpower, and cost in the recovery phase.

  • Industrial accidents and the resulting worker injuries have adverse effect on industry. From a financial perspective, these effects are realized in large sums of money, perhaps 1.5 billions of wons which are spent last year. In the past. industry in general was not aware of the high costs incurred through injuries to workers. However, this trend has changed in recent years. This paper shows that middle managers have a critical job with respect to safety in workers. The safer middle managers have better resulting than unsafe ones. This is because the workers are more efficient and productive when acting safely. Consequently, this study was primarily an attempt to identify the relationship among middle manager behavior, job site policies, and interpersonal relationships on the job as the affect work safety and performance. More specifically this study focused on the investigation of the research questions by testing the hypotheses.

  • In line with the modern era in which the safety of underground facilities and the use of underground information are increasingly emphasized, the state is pushing for more precise and accurate underground spatial information to be secured and utilized. Therefore, we need to pay more attention to subsurface geospatial data. In the future, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will actively utilize the 15 types of Integrated Underground Geospatial Information Map(6 types of underground facilities, 6 types of underground structures, 3 types of ground) that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is building as three-dimensional underground spatial information, and contribute greatly to improving national safety and convenience in underground construction. expected to do However, when a site manager requests an Integrated Underground Geospatial Information Map with a mobile device, if the large-capacity integrated underground space map is not quickly transmitted over the wireless section and is not serviced, it causes inconvenience to the site manager and delays work. In this paper, the goal of this paper is to enable field managers to quickly receive a tiled Integrated Underground Geospatial Information Map with minimal information exchange. Therefore, the tiling system is configured according to the dataset for high-speed Mobile Integrated Underground Geospatial Information Map transmission. In addition, a transmission system for the Mobile Integrated Underground Geospatial Information Map is established, and a TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)-based spatial information tiling transmission protocol dedicated to the on-site Integrated Underground Geospatial Information Map is developed.

  • While institutional matters such as improvement on Basic Guidelines for Construction Safety are greatly concerned to reduce falling accidents at construction sites, there are short of studies on how to practically predict accident signs at construction sites and to preemptively prevent them. As one of existing accident prevention methods, it was attempted to build the early warning system based on standardized accident scenarios to control the situations. However, the investment cost was too high depending on the site situation, and it did not help construction workers directly since it was developed to mainly provide support operational work support to safety managers. In the long run, it would be possible to develop the augmented reality based accident prevention method from the worker perspective by extracting product information from BIM, visually rendering it along with site installation materials term and comparing it with the site situation. However, to make this method effective, the BIM model should be implemented first and the technology that can promptly process site situations should be introduced. Accordingly, it is necessary to identify risk signs through lightweight image processing to promptly respond only with currently available resources. In this study, it was intended to propose the system concept that identified potential risk factors of falling accidents by histogram equalization, which was known as the fastest image processing method presently, used visual words, which could enhance model classification by wording image records, to determine the risk factors and notified them to the work manager.

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to reclassify human errors and to develop hands-on tools to apply the new classification for preventing human error accidents in highway construction site. Background: The main cause of accidents in highway construction was reported as the carelessness of workers. However, such diagnosis could not help us operationally prevent accidents in real workplace. Method: The accidents in highway construction were reanalyzed and the causes of human error were reclassified in order to educate and improve the awareness of human error in highway construction. Field survey and interview with safety managers and workers were conducted to find the causal relationship between the actual accidents and the human errors. Results: The most frequently observed human errors in highway construction were classified into six categories such as mis-perception, distraction, memory fail, slip, cognition error and mis-judgment. In order to provide hands-on tools to increase the awareness of human error in construction field, the human error checklist and card sorting diary were developed. Especially, the card sorting diary was designed to increase the ability in human error inspection of safety manager at construction site. Moreover, posters were developed based on actual accident cases. Conclusion: We suggested that the improved awareness and analytical report on checklist, card sorting diary and posters for construction field could collectively prevent the accident. Application: The classification of human error, hands-on tools and posters can be directly applicable on highway construction site. This analytical and collective approach preventing human error-related accident could be extended to other construction workplaces.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an improved work clothing which is much safe, comfortable, mobility and convenient than what workers currently wear at construction site. The investigation has been conducted to evaluate current work clothing to grasp any problems, discomforts and damages related to the work clothing. For the best and accurate data, hands-on investigation and a short-interview have been performed at the construction site as well as formulating a questionnaire. The questionnaires was answered by 425 workers and safety manager of 13 different construction site. The result of the questionnaire enables us to design a sample work clothing, many pa π s such as material, pattern and design have been improved. To improve the amenity of heat, the surface of a material was used by $Aerocool^{\circledR}$ fiber which contains inside dryness function. In order to absorb perspiration on the back the armpits, mesh martial that is mixture of $Coolever^{TM}$ fiber and $Mirawave^{TM}$ fiber was used to absorb perspiration in an effective manner. And a sleeve's bottom part and trousers' bottom part's cover method have been changed. Sample work clothing was shorten at the side of upper garment up to 2cm and lengthen the length of the back by 3cm. To reduce the tightness around armpit more room was given in that area. Darts were added to the elbow, the hip, and the knees that also followed an ergonomic pattern. A sample work clothing evaluated an objective assessment and subjective assessment to compare to a current work clothing. Assessment group consists of seven subject groups and nine expert groups to evaluate external appearance and adaptability to the movements. • Effective construction safety management systems are desperately required for reducing damage caused by increasing safety accidents in construction sites. Safety accidents in construction sites can effectively protect if proactive measures are taken to prevent unauthorized worker access the expected hazardous area. In this study, we have developed a IoT(Internet of Things)-based dangerous zone alarming system for safety management in construction sites, which can be operated at low cost in large-scale sites as well as small and medium-sized construction sites. The development system utilizes a Zigbee-based beacon technology and cellular mobile communication technology to detect when authorized workers, unauthorized field workers or outsiders approaches hazardous zones. If somebody approaches the dangerous zones the system notifies immediately to the safety manager with a danger warning signal. It is expected that this system can effectively prevent safety accidents when applied to construction sites.
