스테레오 비전 기술을 이용한 도로 표지판의 3차원 추적 (Three Dimensional Tracking of Road Signs based on Stereo Vision Technique)

  • Road signs provide important safety information about road and traffic conditions to drivers. Road signs include not only common traffic signs but also warning information regarding unexpected obstacles and road constructions. Therefore, accurate detection and identification of road signs is one of the most important research topics related to safe driving. In this paper, we propose a 3-D vision technique to automatically detect and track road signs in a video sequence which is acquired from a stereo vision camera mounted on a vehicle. First, color information is used to initially detect the sign candidates. Second, the SVM (Support Vector Machine) is employed to determine true signs from the candidates. Once a road sign is detected in a video frame, it is continuously tracked from the next frame until it is disappeared. The 2-D position of a detected sign in the next frame is predicted by the 3-D motion of the vehicle. Here, the 3-D vehicle motion is acquired by using the 3-D pose information of the detected sign. Finally, the predicted 2-D position is corrected by template-matching of the scaled template of the detected sign within a window area around the predicted position. Experimental results show that the proposed method can detect and track many types of road signs successfully. Tracking comparisons with two different methods are shown.

Deriving Topics for Safety of Folk Villages Following Scope and Content of ICT-Based DPD

  • This paper presents a novel concept of Disaster Prevention Design (DPD) and its derived subjects and topics for the safety of folk villages in both Korea and Japan. Nowadays, design concepts are focused on 'human-oriented nature' as a whole and this tendency fits to be appropriate for disaster prevention against real dangers of a future society, which is expected to have far more complicated features. On the other hand, convergences have performed with other areas in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT) so that we can easily find examples like 'the strategy of ICT-based convergence' of the Korean Government in 2014. Modern content designs including UI (user interface) and USN (ubiquitous sensor network) have been developed as one of the representative areas of ICT & UD (universal design) convergences. These days this novel concept of convergence is overcoming the existing limitations of the conventional design concept focused on product and/or service. First of all, from that point our deduced topic or subject would naturally be a monitoring system design of constructional structures in folk villages for safety. We offer an integrated model of maintenance and a management-monitoring scheme. Another important point of view in the research is a safety sign or sign system installed in folk villages or traditional towns and their standardization. We would draw up and submit a plan that aims to upgrade signs and sign systems applied to folk villages in Korea and Japan. According to our investigations, floods in Korea and earthquakes in Japan are the most harmful disasters of folk villages. Therefore, focusing on floods in the area of traditional towns in Korea would be natural. We present a water-level expectation model using deep learning simulation. We also apply this method to the area of 'Andong Hahoe' village which has been registered with the World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. Folk village sites include 'Asan Oeam', 'Andong Hahoe' and 'Chonju Hanok' villages in Korea and 'Beppu Onsen' village in Japan. Traditional Streets and Markets and Safe Schools and Parks are also chosen as nearby test-beds for DPD based on ICT. Our final goal of the research is to propose and realize an integrated disaster prevention and/or safety system based on big data for both Korea and Japan.

  • A study on antigenicity of HRccine (formalin inactivated HFRS virus vaccine) was investigated in guinea pigs and mice. As a part of the safety evaluation of the HRccine, antigenicity tests were carried out according to the Estabilish Regulations of National Institute of Safety Research. In active systemic anaphylaxis (ASA) test no sign was detected when sensitized with up to 120 clinical dose and challenged with up to 1200 clinical dose in guinea pigs. In passive systemic anaphylaxis test guinea pigs showed no sign. In passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) test, HRccine specific IgE antibody was not detected when sensitized and challenged with up to 1200 clinical dose. Conclusively, there was no adverse antigenic potential at the clinical dose of 120 clinical dose alone and 120 clinical dose with Al(OH)3.

  • This study is intended to analyze the relation between G. D. Weisman's Way finding 4 elements the accessibility and efficiency of consumers as to eternal area for Seoul historical museum. The findings are summarized as the following three aspects. First, G. D. Weisman's Way finding element introduced in this study had a significant impact on visitor satisfaction.. It leads to the following conclusion: The higher the impact is, the greater accessaccessibility and efficiency are. Second, among 4 elements, the factor that had the biggest impact on the accessibility was 'visual-perceptual accessibility'. Thus, 'visual-perceptual accessibility' should be considered first to boost the accessibility to consumers. Third, among 4 elements, the factor that had the biggest impact on the efficiency was 'sign system'. Thus, 'sign system' should be considered first to boost the efficiency to consumers.

  • Virtual manufacturing technology has been applied in actual production sites with the development of virtual reality technology. However, the current virtual manufacturing technology requires experts for application of the system. Furthermore, the sense of reality is diminished as the entire simulation is driven by virtual objects. In contrast, mixed reality can visualize virtual objects and an actual work place simultaneously, and thus the sense of reality of the virtual manufacturing simulation can be improved. This paper introduces a method that applies mixed reality in the manufacturing process, and proposes a method to adapt general safety sign post in the factory instead of a black square marker for visual fiducial recognition.

  • This paper describes the improved environment recognition algorithms using some type of sensors like LiDAR and cameras. Additionally, integrated control algorithm for an autonomous vehicle is included. The integrated algorithm was based on C++ environment and supported the stability of the whole driving control algorithms. As to the improved vision algorithms, lane tracing and traffic sign recognition were mainly operated with three cameras. There are two algorithms developed for lane tracing, Improved Lane Tracing (ILT) and Histogram Extension (HIX). Two independent algorithms were combined into one algorithm - Enhanced Lane Tracing with Histogram Extension (ELIX). As for the enhanced traffic sign recognition algorithm, integrated Mutual Validation Procedure (MVP) by using three algorithms - Cascade, Reinforced DSIFT SVM and YOLO was developed. Comparing to the results for those, it is convincing that the precision of traffic sign recognition is substantially increased. With the LiDAR sensor, static and dynamic obstacle detection and obstacle avoidance algorithms were focused. Therefore, improved environment recognition algorithms, which are higher accuracy and faster processing speed than ones of the previous algorithms, were proposed. Moreover, by optimizing with integrated control algorithm, the memory issue of irregular system shutdown was prevented. Therefore, the maneuvering stability of the autonomous vehicle in severe environment were enhanced.

자율주행차량이 인식 가능한 표지 시설의 역할 도출 (Deriving the Role of Sign Facilities Recognized by Autonomous Vehicles)

  • 4차 산업혁명 시대의 도래에 따라 자율주행 기술에 관한 관심이 증대되고 있다. 이에 따라 기존 교통시설에 대한 자율주행차의 적용 가능성 및 정밀도로지도의 활용과 함께 자율주행차에 부착된 센서를 이용하여 주변 상황을 인지함으로써 안전한 주행을 모색해야 할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 자율주행시대에 도로· 교통 인프라 개선을 위해 개발한 자율주행차에 장착된 센서를 통해 인지하는 표지 시설의 활용을 위해 기존 도로시설물인 도로표지, 교통안전표지, 시선유도시설과 정밀도로지도의 시설물 관련 레이어와의 비교분석을 통한 자율주행차량이 인식 가능한 표지 시설의 역할을 도출한다. 자율주행차량이 인식 가능한 표지 시설은 자율주행차에 직접 특정한 행동을 수행하도록 하는 등의 역할을 함으로써 안전주행을 도모할 수 있다. 자율주행차가 센서를 이용하여 표지시설을 인지함으로써 주행안전을 도모하기 위해서는 설치와 관리 및 활용 기준의 마련이 필요하며, 기준에 따라 지속해서 관리 및 감독이 이루어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.

  • Clean and well maintained roadway signs are important for preserving driver's safety. The existing signs on the roadway must be periodically re-painted in order to maintain clean state. However, current sign painting operations are manually performed now. These are very slow and workers are exposed to very dangerous and hazard working environment. In this paper, we present the method for automating this job with gantry robot and spray system. In addition, we suggest two design concepts to resolve the problem that it is impractical to make the gantry system so big as to cover whole lane width. In order to show the validity of this system, the painting operation is simulated and experimentally executed.

VMS 교통정보의 교통안전효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on Safety Impacts for VMS Traffic Information)

  • 최근 교통문제를 완화하기 위하여 ITS를 적용하는 도로가 늘어나고 있다. 특히 가변전광표지(VMS: Variable Message Sign)는 전방도로상황, 기상상황 등 교통정보를 제공하여 교통흐름관리 및 교통안전관리를 하는 ITS 중 하나이다. 이런 VMS의 교통정보제공의 교통안전효과를 분석하기 위하여 현장조사를 통해 데이터를 수집하고 수집된 데이터에 대한 통계학적 검증을 시행하였다. VMS 교통정보제공 전 후의 차량주행특성은 교통정보제공 시 1차로와 2차로 모두 평균주행속도가 감소하고 차로 내 차량통행이 차로중심을 기준으로 통행하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 VMS 교통정보제공이 교통안전효과에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 교통위험지역을 선정하고 구간을 통과하는 차량에 대한 확률분포를 Anderson-Darling Test를 통해 산정하여 비교하였다. 비교결과 1차로에서 VMS 교통정보제공으로 인해 교통안전효과가 차로양쪽 각각 0.69%와 7.07% 향상되는 것으로 나타났으며, 2차로의 경우 차로양쪽 각각 2.71%와 0.02% 향상되는 것으로 분석되었다.

도로표지 안내지명의 연계성 확보 방안 (Enhancing Connectivity of Guiding Points at Road Signs)

  • 도로상에서 운전자에게 길안내 역할을 하는 도로표지는 운전자가 자신이 원하는 목적지를 쉽고 정확하게 찾을 수 있도록 설계되고 설치되어야 하며, 이는 도로이용자의 도로이용 효율성 및 교통 안전성 향상을 위해 충분히 고려되어야 한다. 현재 우리나라에서 사용하고 있는 도로표지 경로안내방식은 점개념 안내방식이며, 도시부에서는 부분적으로 선개념 안내방식을 도입하고 있으나 안내지명 선정방법에 대한 기준이 미흡하고, 도로의 기능별 안내지명선정 및 지역적 특성을 감안한 안내지명 선정에 대한 구체적인 기준이 없어 안내지명간의 전체적인 연계성이 결여되는 문제점이 나타나고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현 도로표지규정집에서 규정하고 있는 도로표지 안내지명 선정기준을 재검토하여 특정 구간(지역)에서의 안내지명 선정방법 및 연계성을 확보하는 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 문제점을 다각적으로 분석해 보고, 도로의 기능별 및 지역적 특성을 감안한 안내지면 선정방법을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
