  • Overloaded vehicles increase the maintenance cost of road structures, and they are a major factor in causing damage to the roads and bridges. In addition, overloaded vehicles compromise the braking capability of the vehicle; thus, threatening the safety of the driver. In order to prevent overloading of vehicles, the government is cracking down on the roads by using a device that measures the weight of vehicles. But this process is inconvenient because the place where the equipment is installed is far away from where the cargo is loaded. Due to the limitations of these fixed weighing devices, there is a growing need for technology that can monitor vehicle weight distribution and overload conditions in real time. In this work, we develop an onboard scale that can measure the load (weight) of trucks in real time. The onboard scale consists of high sensors, a signal processing unit, and a display, and it measures the load using height-displacement of the vehicle's leaf spring suspension.

Reliability-based design of semi-rigidly connected base-isolated buildings subjected to stochastic near-fault excitations

  • Base isolation is a well-established passive strategy for seismic response control of buildings. In this paper, an efficient framework is proposed for reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) of isolated buildings subjected to uncertain earthquakes. The framework uses reduced function evaluations method, as an efficient tool for structural reliability analysis, and an efficient optimization algorithm for optimal structural design. The probability of failure is calculated considering excessive base displacement, superstructure inter-storey drifts, member stress ratios and absolute accelerations of floors of the isolated building as failure events. The behavior of rubber bearing isolators is modeled using nonlinear hysteretic model and the variability of future earthquakes is modeled by applying a probabilistic approach. The effects of pulse component of stochastic near-fault ground motions, fixity-factor of semi-rigid beam-to-column connections, values of isolator parameters, earthquake magnitude and epicentral distance on the performance and safety of semi-rigidly connected base-isolated steel framed buildings are studied. Suitable RBDO examples are solved to illustrate the results of investigations.

확산모수와 제이슨방파제 기대활동량을 이용한 개정 설계파 분석 (Assessment of New Design Wave by Spread Parameter and Expected Sliding Distance of Caisson Breakwater)

  • 개정설계파의 극치분포를 확산모수를 이용하여 분석하였으며 케이슨방파제 기대활동량 산정을 통하여 확산모수가 방파제 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 확산모수가 통상적 값보다 클 때 극치분포함수를 이용해 발생시킨 년최대 유의파 중에서 50년 빈도 설계파보다 매우 큰 이례적인 파가 발생하는 현상을 확인하였다. 개정설계파의 확산모수는 외국사례와 비교한 결과 상대적으로 큰 값을 가지며 방파제 기대활동량 평가시 결정론적 안전율이 충분히 높은 경우에도 매우 큰 활동량을 유발하는 것으로 확인되었다.

연약지반에서의 말뚝기초 교대의 측방유동 대책공법 적용에 관한 연구 (A study on the stability of pile bridge abutment on soft ground undergoing lateral flow)

  • An existing studies concern about movement of pile bridge abutments. However, lateral displacement cause the serious failure of bridge by embankment under soft soil lateral flow A intention is obtained by analyzing the relationship between the safety factor of evaluation for lateral movements. Precise investigation and analysis are performed, in which the lateral movement of bridge abutments has occurred, and construct design strut-slab between bridge abutments in order to restraint lateral flow. As a result of this study, it was found that when evaluation for lateral movements is allowed to use Tschebotarioff's method and lateral flow decision number (I) and revision lateral flow decision number (M$_{I}$) by Korea Highway Corporation. Most important thing is decision of pressure of lateral flow at this case. Tschebotarioff's isoscales triangle method have no trouble analysis of pressure of lateral flow. Strut-slab method are nearly not have constructed case in this field site study that applied method. The method are between abutments combined steel strut and reinforced concrete slab. This method are effective restraint lateral flow but have little difficulty if long span bridge between abutments.s.

국산 Flux-Cored Wire를 이용한 반자동용접이음새에서의 피로파괴 특성 (A study on the fatigue crack growth of mild steel weldments using flux cored wire $CO_2$ welding)

  • The application of fracture mechanics is being increased gradually to assess the safety of welded structures containing crack. Fatigue crack propagation behavior and elastic-plastic fracture toughness J$_{IC}$ of home made flux cored wire(1.22mm) CO$_{2}$ weldments was discussed. Especially fatigue crack propagation test was carried out by .DELTA.K control instead of load control and elastic-plastic fracture toughness J$_{IC}$ was obtained by ASTM-R curve method on C.T.specimen in transverse direction of weldments. The results obtained are as follows; (1) Weld metal presented an almost complete similarity to base metal on fatigue crack propagation rate in transverse direction. (2) Weld metal was more than base metal on J$_{IC}$ value in transverse direction. (3) F.C.W. CO$_{2}$ weldments had an excellent characteristic of fatigue crack propagation rate and J$_{IC}$ in less than 50kg/mm$^{2}$ steel grade, this would result from that weld metal had good static strength.trength.

다구찌 방법을 이용한 고분자 전해질 연료전지 가스켓의 강건 구조 설계 (Structural Robust Design of PEMFC Gasket Using Taguchi Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 다구찌방법을 이용하여 고분자 전해질 연료전지 스택 가스켓의 강건설계를 수행하였다. 스택의 조립과정 시 발생하는 조립오차(잡음인자)를 고려한다. 이러한 잡음인자를 포함한 연구는 연료전지 스택의 안전성 확보와 성능향상을 위해 필요하다. 잡음인자의 영향이 둔감하도록 설계하기 위하여 다구찌의 강건설계 방법을 적용하였다. 가스켓 해석의 경우 하중과 변위의 초탄성 거동을 표현하기 위하여 Mooney-Rivlin의 변형률에너지 함수를 사용하였다. 또한, 단축 및 등가 이축 인장 시험을 통해 초탄성 거동의 해석에 필요한 물성을 구하였으며, 비선형 초탄성 해석을 수행하고 강건설계를 수행 하였다. PEMFC 스택의 강건설계를 통하여 구조적 신뢰성을 확보하게 되었다.

RC 슬래브와 SC 벽 접합부의 전단마찰 거동에 관한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study on Shear Friction Behavior of RC Slab and SC(Steel Plate Concrete) Wall Structure with Connection Joint)

  • 본 연구에서는 RC 구조 슬래브와 SC 구조 전단벽이 만나는 접합부의 거동특성을 파악하고 RC구조 슬래브-SC구조 전단벽 이질접합부의 전단마찰내력을 평가하고 KEPIC SNG의 접합면 소요전단강도 기준의 안전율을 평가하기 위해 실험연구를 수행하였다. 연구결과, 접합면의 전단마찰내력은 약 300kN으로 나타났고, 변위가 증가할수록 철근의 내력분담이 증가하게 되며, 상부철근보다는 하부철근의 전단내력 분담율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 하부철근을 구성한 경우에는 하부철근이 없는 실험체에 비해 40% 이상 전단내력이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Solvent-free paint is sprayed from higher-pressure conditions, because the viscosity is large. The hydraulic actuator which can be operated under higher-pressure condition is required to spray solvent-free paints in painting process for the environmental protection. The purpose of this paper is to develop the hydraulic actuator under higher-pressure conditions for solvent-free paint spraying system. The hydraulic actuator consists of inner spool, outer spool and ball. The analysis of a structural stability was conducted by using ANSYS V11 under the design condition of upward and downward movement of spool. As a result, the maximum von-Mises stress applied on spool under 4mm displacement showed a value of 106MPa which was greater than the allowable stress of the spool with a value of 250MPa and a value of safety factor 3. This result suggested that the spool system be unstable under the design condition so that it was necessary for the spool system to be reinforced to secure the structural stability.

Compressive behavior of circular hollow and concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns under atmospheric corrosion

  • This paper aims to study the compressive behavior of circular hollow and concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns under simulated marine atmospheric corrosion. The specimens after salt spray corrosion were tested under axial compressive load. Steel grade and corrosion level were mainly considered in the study. The mechanical behavior of circular CFST specimens is compared with that of the corresponding hollow ones. Design methods for circular hollow and concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns are modified to consider the effect of marine atmospheric corrosion. The results show that linear fitting curves could be used to present the relationship between corrosion rate and the mechanical properties of steel after simulated marine atmospheric corrosion. The ultimate strength of hollow steel tubular and CFST columns decrease with the increase of corrosion rate while the ultimate displacement of those are hardly affected by corrosion rate. Increasing corrosion rate would change the failure of CFST stub column from ductile failure to brittle failure. Corrosion rate would decrease the ductility indexes of CFST columns, rather than those of hollow steel tubular columns. The confinement factor ${\xi}$ of CFST columns decreases with the increase of corrosion rate while the ratio between test value and nominal value shows an opposite trend. With considering marine atmospheric corrosion, the predicted axial strength of hollow steel tubular and CFST columns by Chinese standard agree well with the tested values while the predictions by Japanese standard seem conservative.

록볼트 인발 시 그라우트 강도에 따른 인발 거동 (The Pull-out Behavior of Rock Bolts According to Grout Strength during Rock Bolt Pull-out )

  • 본 논문에서는 시험적 연구를 통해 록볼트가 지보효과를 발휘하는 시기를 그라우트 강도로 제시하고, 수치해석적 연구를 통해 지반조건과 경계면 강도감소계수에 따른 록볼트 인발 거동을 분석한 연구를 다루었다. 그 결과 록볼트는 그라우트 강도 5 MPa(재령 18시간)에서 지보효과를 발휘하였으며, 경계면 강도감소계수의 영향은 록볼트 변위의 경우 연약한 지반일수록, 그라우트- 지반의 전단응력의 경우 지반의 탄성계수가 높을수록, 그라우트 응력의 경우 모든 지반조건에서 영향이 큰 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구결과는 록볼트 인발시험의 구체적인 기준 재정립과 록볼트 수치해석에 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.
