조류 유리충돌 방지를 위한 디자인 개선방안에 관한 고찰 (Study on Design Considerations to Prevent Bird Collisions with Glass)

  • Bird collisions with glass are a substantial source of human-caused avian mortality. It has been estimated that between 100 million and 1 billion birds die in collisions with windows every year, and bird-window collisions can have a particularly serious impact on populations because glass is dangerous for strong, healthy, breeding adults. The purpose of this study are to address the bird-window collision issue and to provide suggestions for bird-safe development by reviewing precedent studies on bird collision and analyzing bird-friendly design guidelines. Typically reflections of the sky, clouds or trees on glass, green plants in lobbies, and lights attract and confuse both migrating and resident birds. Therefore birds fatally fly into the glass because they do not recognize that reflections are false and that glass is a barrier. Many cities such as Toronto, Chicago and New York have made efforts on reducing the bird collision by encouraging the creation of environmentally conscious and bird-safe buildings. The USGBC also introduced a bird-safety credit as part of its environmental certification process, called LEED. The results of the study presented that architects and builders can help reduce or prevent bird from collisions in both new construction and existing structures with creative use of design elements. The measures to reduce bird collisions include using glass with an embedded pattern, opaque or translucent films, decals, dot patterns, awnings, louvers, and grilles. Turning off lights after midnight during the spring and fall migrations can be part of the solution as well. In order to reduce bird mortality, the most important thing is to generate awareness of the issue among designers, builders, as well as the public. Also local governments need to develop bird-friendly design guidelines and planning mechanisms to encourage bird-safe development and building operation.

Phthalate 3종에 대한 경피투과 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Percutaneous Absorption for Three Kinds of Phthalate)

  • Objectives: Phthalates are used in a large variety of products including as coatings of pharmaceutical tablets, film formers, stabilizers, dispersants, emulsifying agents, and suspending agents. They have been the subject of great public concern in recent years. The extensive uses of this material have attracted attention and issues regarding its safety have been raised. Methods: In this study, three types of phthalate skin permeation were studied using matrixes such as ointments, creams and lotions in vitro. The absorption of phthalate diesters [Dimethyl phthalate (DMP), Di-n-propyl phthalate (DPP) and Di-n-pentyl phthalate (DNPP)] using film former has been measured in vitro through rat skin. Epidermal membranes were set up in Franz diffusion cells and their permeability to PBS measured in order to establish the integrity of the skin before the phthalates were applied to the epidermal surface. Results: Absorption rates for each phthalate ester were determined and permeability assessment made to quantify any irreversible alterations in barrier function due to contact with the esters. Types of phthalate in vitro experimental results quickly appeared in the following order DMP > DPP ${\geq}$ DNPP. Conclusions: In the experimental results, lotion> cream> ointment, and the permeation rate of lotion with a great amount of moisture was the fastest. Skin permeation rate is generally influenced by the chemical characteristics of a given chemical, such as molecular weight and lipophilicity. As the esters became more lipophilic and less hydrophilic, the rate of absorption decreased.

가상주행 시뮬레이터를 활용한 시선유도시설 효과평가 연구 (Evaluation of Effectiveness on Delineation System Using Virtual Driving Simulator)

  • PURPOSES : Traffic safety facilities are used to prevent traffic accidents before they occur by providing drivers with information on traffic situations and the geometric design of roads. However, some facilities not defined in guidelines do not meet installation criteria, yet are being installed and used in order to increase efficiency in traffic flow and prevent traffic accidents in a specific expressway zone. In this study, we have evaluated the effect of delineation system which are not defined in the guideline criteria. METHODS : Different virtual scenarios were created for roads using expressway median barrier chevron signs, with a driving simulator used to evaluate the installation and operational effect of such signs. Ten experiments were performed with left- and right-curved roads at curve radius intervals of 500 m, from 500 m to 2,500 m. RESULTS : For sections with a curve radius of more than 1,500 m, drivers had a clear tendency toward stable driving regardless of delineation system. When a chevron sign is installed on a protection fence in the road curving left, an expanded installation is recommended up to the section with a curve radius of 1,000 m. According to the analysis results for the RHB (Relative High Beta spectrum), driving concentration also improved up to a curve radius of 1,000 m. CONCLUSIONS :The experiment result indicates the extent of biasing within a lane and the manipulation amount of steering handle, were analyzed and found to be affected by curve radius and road alignment regardless of delineation system.

어머니의 신생아에 대한 지각사정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Assessment of Mothers Perception of a Newborn Baby)

  • The research was carried out in order to assess, at an early stage, the potential barrier in mother-child relationship in the childs' development by using the screening tool. Consequently, after modifying the Neonatal Perception Inventory developed by Broussard and testing its reliability. It has been applied to 152 mothers at the hospital of three universities in Seoul from August 1 to September 30, 1986. The data was analyzed by S.P.S.S. pro-gram and the results were as follows: 1) Mothers perceived the newborn as an individual, and evaluated their baby higher than other babies. 2) Mothers indicated difficulties in their role performance in the fellowing order-bathing, safety, detecting pain or suffering, and feeding. 3) Mothers' perception of a newborn was positive for 75% of the mothers. 4) The factor analysis of the modified tool using principal components analysis and Varimax rotation resulted in the two factors: Factor 1, Baby as an individual: Factor Ⅱ, Performances are required to meet the new-born's needs. 5) The difference in mothers' individual characteristics such as the number of childbirth, the desire to get pregnant or not, the type of deli-very, and the sex of the newborn did not influence on a mothers' perception of her newborn. As seen above, most of the mothers perceived their newborns as able individuals and expressed difficulties involved in taking care of the newborn. Also most of the mothers perceived their babies positively. My point here is, we ought to observe those mothers who perceive their babies negatively, and then compare them with those mothers who perceive their babies extremely positive or extremely negative. In the future, for more comprehensive assessment tool for maternal perception of the newborn, a repetitive verification and modification of this tool is demanded. At the same time, father's perception of the newborn should be included.

  • Atmospheric pressure plasma is used in the biological and medical fields. Miniaturization and safety are important in the application of apply atmospheric plasma to bio devices. In this study, we made a small, pocket-sized inverter for the discharge of atmospheric plasma. We used pulse power to control the neutral gas temperature at which the, when plasma was discharged. We used direct current of 5 V of bias(voltage). The output voltage is about 1 to 2 kilo volts the frequency is about 80 kilo hertz. We analyzsed the characteristics of the atmospheric plasma using OES(Optical emission spectroscopy) and the Current-Voltage characteristic of pulse power. By calculating of the current voltage characteristics, we were able to determine that, when the duty ratio increased, the power that actually effects the plasma discharge also increased. To apply atmospheric plasma to human organisms, the temperature is the most important factor, we were able to control the temperature by modulating the pulse power duty ratio. This means we can use atmospheric plasma on the human body or in other areas of the medical field.

시각장애인 복지관의 화재 피난행태 특성분석 연구 (A Study on the Fire Drill Behavior Characteristics in Rehabilitation Center for Visually Impaired Persons)

  • 본 연구는 시각장애인 복지관 건축계획, 실내디자인 및 운영관리 개선방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위하여 시각장애인 이동 특성을 고찰하고, 피난실험을 통하여 피난행태를 분석하였다. 이상의 연구결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 시각장애인의 피난을 위해 '一자형'의 연속된 직선형 피난통로(보행안전통로) 및 실내 랜드마크 배치를 하고, 장애인 거주시설 및 프로그램 운영실을 가능하면 1층에 배치하여 지면과 무단차로 직접적인 피난이 이루어지도록 하는 것이 바람직하다. 둘째, 실내디자인 측면에서 수평이동을 위한 연속적인 핸드레일이 중요하며, 길찾기 및 피난경로를 안내하는 바닥재료의 재질변화, 색채대비, 촉지정보, 음성안내 등 세심한 계획이 요구된다. 셋째, 장애유형에 따른 장애인 이동특성 및 피난행태를 고려한 세분화된 건축계획, 실내디자인 기준 및 운영관리 매뉴얼을 제공할 필요성이 있다.

FRP선박의 재처리시스템과 활용성 연구 (New Practical and Eco-friendly Recycling method of FRP Boats)

  • FRP선박의 친환경적 recycle에 있어서 현재 가장 선호되는 방법은 기계적 방법에 의한 파쇄와 분쇄를 거친 후 화학적 처리 또는 추가 첨가제 등을 활용하여 재활용 또는 재사용하는 방법이다. 재활용 방법 중에서는 콘크리트 제품의 잔골재 대용으로 사용하는 것이 주된 재활용 방법이다. 따라서 세계 각국에서는 FRP선박의 재활용(재자원화)을 위하여 실용성과 안정성을 지니는 많은 기계적 처리 및 활용방법에 대한 연구 개발을 진행하여왔다. 특히 국제적으로 파쇄된 FRP재료를 폴리머시멘트에 활용한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔음에도 기계적 처리 방법의 환경적 문제(2차오염)와 폴리머시멘트의 활용도의 한계가 FRP재활용 사업의 확대를 어렵게 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 FRP선박을 친환경적으로 일괄처리 할 수 있는 재처리시스템과 그 결과물을 재활용한 콘크리트제품의 실용화 가능성을 실험하였다.

실험적 열적 물성치를 반영한 CCS 방열박스의 열전달 해석 (Thermal analysis of two main CCS(cargo containment system) insultaion box by using experimental thermal properties)

  • 본 논문에서는 Membrane형 LNG선의 구성 요소를 대상으로 단열창의 열적 분포를 알아보기 위해 극저온 상태에서부터 온도 별로 각 소재의 열적 물성치인 열전도도(thermal conductivity)를 실험을 통해서 알아보았다. 극저온 상태인 $-163^{\circ}C$의 온도상태로 유지되어야 하는 LNG선 화물탱크는 단열재료로 하여금 열을 차단하기 위해 많은 연구가 되어야 하는데 특히 여러 재료로 구성되어 있는 단열 화물창(CCS: Cargo containment system)은 열적 물성치가 온도에 따라 각각 어떠한 값을 가지는 것이 주요 관심대상이고, 이를 통해 전체 LNG 단열 화물창이 어떤 열적 분포를 가지는 것에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 실험을 통해 얻은 물성치를 가지고 전체 화물창의 온도분포를 정적 열해석을 통해 알아보았다. 또한 외부의 충격에 의해 LNG가 누수되었을때 2차 방벽 특히 hull 부분에서는 누수량에 대해서 어떠한 온도분포와 열적 안전성에 대해서 알아보았다.

사물 인터넷 기반의 1인 가구를 위한 스마트 콘센트 시스템 (Smart Outlet System for Single-person Household based on IoT (Internet of Things))

  • 본 논문에서는 1인 가구를 대상으로 전기 안전, 전기 에너지 소비 관리 그리고 비상시 네트워크를 연결하여 예약된 연락처에 메시지를 전송하는 사물인터넷 기반의 스마트 콘센트 시스템 구축 방식을 제안한다. 제안된 스마트 콘센트 시스템은 서버와 모듈, 어플리케이션, WiFi AP 수신기 사이에 패킷 데이터와 프로토콜을 파싱하여 구현된다. 통신을 위해 구축된 WiFi AP는 콘센트 뿐 만 아니라 가스 차단, 도어락 등에 연결하여 사용하는 것이 가능하다. 또한 제안된 방식은 AC 전류센서(SCT-013)를 통해 받아온 해당 콘센트의 전력량을 실시간으로 수신하여 원격 모니터링 기능을 제공할 수 있다. 스마트 콘센트 시스템은 대기전력 차단 기능과 더불어 전력 사용 자동 분석을 통해 비상시 전력 자동 차단 기능까지 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

시각장애인 점자블록의 휘도대비 기준에 대한 연구 (A Study on Luminance Contrast Criteria for Tactile Walking Surface Indicators)

  • Purpose: There are the number of color tactile walking surface indicators installed in Korea, because of indefinite regulation in blind and vision-impaired persons' tactile walking surface indicators. In case of yellow tactile walking surface indicators, it shows a deviation severe color. In this study, the researchers suggested color and brightness reference for helping blind and vision-impaired persons' walking through analyzing the color references of tactile walking surface indicators and the color luminance between tactile walking surface indicators and sidewalk currently used. Method: Reasonable luminance contrast criteria is suggested by examining ways of improving the recognition and recognition of objects according to color contrast visually impaired through literature review and analyzing standards of tactile walking surface indicators and the Europe, Japan and Australia of color and luminance contrast criteria. And by examining the color of the tactile walking surface indicators reported in Korea currently used to derive the problem presented by the luminance contrast in the reference and comparison. Finally, the visually impaired tactile walking surface indicators is set for color selection criteria for the recognition rate improves. Results: In order to improve the recognition rate to be tactile walking surface indicators of the contrast of the visually impaired and the environment than the color of the tactile walking surface indicators itself to secure always a certain level or more of brightness contrast values in the set of the color of the tactile walking surface indicators so important. Implication: In order to set the blind tactile walking surface indicators color recognition based on the verification of the real pedestrian based on the results presented in this paper it is required. It is to be understood as an element of the barrier free configuration for securing the walking pedestrian safety.
