Purpose: This study investigated the patient safety culture (PSC), the perception of importance on patient safety management (PIPSM) and the patient safety management activities (PSMA) of care workers in nursing homes. This was a descriptive study that attempted to provide basic data for the patient safety education program of care workers. Methods: Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews from July 1 to 31 in 2020. One hundred and seventy-four care workers participated in quantitative research. The collected data were analyzed by the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Bonferroni, and Pearson's correlation. The qualitative data were collected through semi-structured, audio-recorded interviews with six representatives and six care workers from six nursing homes. Content analysis was performed to analyze the data. Results: Positive correlations were observed between PSC and PIPSM, and between PIPSM and PIPSM. Care workers' experience in patient safety management was in the following six categories: "Safety accident risk factors", "Type of safety accidents", "How to prevent safety accidents", "Effective safety management education", "Emphasis on occupational ethics of care workers", and "Needs for standard protocol" Conclusion: These findings indicate that considering the care workers' age and facility size, nurses should enhance patient safety education for care workers and establish a management activity system.

This paper aims to give an overview of the methods to inherently prevent human errors and to effectively mitigate the consequences of such errors by securing defense-in-depth during plant management through the advanced man-machine interface system (MMIS). It is needless to stress the significance of human error reduction during an accident in nuclear power plants (NPPs). Unexpected shutdowns caused by human errors not only threaten nuclear safety but also make public acceptance of nuclear power extremely lower. We have to recognize there must be the possibility of human errors occurring since humans are not essentially perfect particularly under stressful conditions. However, we have the opportunity to improve such a situation through advanced information and communication technologies on the basis of lessons learned from our experiences. As important lessons, authors explained key issues associated with automation, man-machine interface, operator support systems, and procedures. Upon this investigation, we outlined the concept and technical factors to develop advanced automation, operation and maintenance support systems, and computer-based procedures using wired/wireless technology. It should be noted that the ultimate responsibility of nuclear safety obviously belongs to humans not to machines. Therefore, safety culture including education and training, which is a kind of organizational factor, should be emphasized as well. In regard to safety culture for human error reduction, several issues that we are facing these days were described. We expect the ideas of the advanced MMIS proposed in this paper to lead in the future direction of related researches and finally supplement the safety of NPPs.

Background: Physician behaviors that undermine a culture of safety have gained increasing attention as health-care organizations strive to create a culture of safety and reduce medical errors. We developed, implemented, and assessed a course to teach physicians skills regarding effective coping and interpersonal communication skills and present our results regarding outcomes. Methods: We examined a professional development program specifically designed to address unprofessional or distressed behaviors of physicians, and we evaluated the impact on burnout, quality of life, and emotional flooding scores of the physicians. Assessments of burnout, quality of life, and emotional flooding were assessed preintervention and postintervention. Results: Results demonstrated statistically significant reductions over time in physicians' emotional flooding and emotional exhaustion (EE). Specifically, using a Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test, results revealed that flooding scores at follow-up were statistically significantly lower than at baseline, V = 590, p < 0.05, and EE and personal accomplishment distributions were found to significantly deviate from normal as indicated by Shapiroe-Wilks tests (p < 0.05). A Wilcoxon signed-rank test indicated that EE scores were significantly higher at baseline compared to follow-up 1, V = 285, p < 0.05. Conclusion: We conclude that the physician participants who enrolled in the educational skills training program improved scores on emotional flooding and EE and that this may be indicative of improved skills related to their experiences and learning in the program. These improved skills in physicians may have a positive impact on the overall culture of safety in the health system setting.

This study was conducted to investigate the consumers' recognition and information need for food safety, especially focused on pesticide residues, foodborne illness, and food additives. The data were collected from 350 adults living in Taegu and Pusan by the self-administered questionnaire. Frequencies and chi-square tests were conducted by SPSS. The results of the survey were as follows: (1) the consumers' concerns about food safety were high, (2) many respondents worried about eating vegetables, fruits and grains in turn because of pesticide residues, and did not trust the results from food-safety tests, (3) the major factor for foodborne illness was regarded as unfreshed or contaminated food stuffs, (4) many consumers concerned highly about preservatives among food additives, and tried to consume food containing less food additives, and (5) many respondents wanted to get the information about harmfulness of pesticide residues in foods, method to choose fresh food, and safety of food additives.

대학 연구실 내 다양한 화학적, 물리학적, 생물학적 유해위험요인들로 인해 안전사고는 꾸준히 발생하고 있으며 이를 개선하기 위한 정부 정책하에 각 대학은 연구실 사전유해위험인자 도출, 연구환경측정 등 다양한 노력을 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2016-2020년간 종합대학 연구실 사고사례 192건에 대한 통계 및 교차분석을 통해 사고 발생의 경향 및 관련 인자들의 상관관계를 도출하였다. 주요 인자별 상관관계로부터 대응 방향과 전략을 마련하였으며 연구실 사고에 대한 기존의 정책 방향을 비교·분석하여 연구실 안전관리제도의 개선방향을 제시하였다.

한국의 중고거래 시장은 꾸준한 성장을 보이고 있지만, 중고거래 사기의 발생 건수와 피해 금액도 함께 늘어나고 있다. 2021년 기준 중고거래 시장 규모는 24조원이지만 동시에 사기 피해 금액은 3,606억 원에 달한다. 중고거래 플랫폼은 개인 간 거래 사기를 방지하기 위해 안전거래 결제 시스템을 마련했다. 그러나 안전결제 시스템을 악용한 신종 사기 수법이 생겨나고 있어 중고거래 안전결제도 사기로부터 안전하다고 볼 수 없다. 이에 본 연구는 텍스트마이닝을 활용하여 중고거래 안전결제 서비스의 사기 방지를 위해 생긴 안전결제 시스템의 실태를 파악하고, 이를 텍스트마이닝과 네트워크 분석으로 분석하여 안전결제 시스템의 개선 방안을 제안한다.

주택 및 토지 개발과 시설물 유지관리를 주 업무로 하는 도시공사 유형의 공기업은 다양한 재난 및 안전관리의 책무를 지고 있으며 최근 관련분야 법률의 전면 개정 및 강화로 그 중요성이 증대되고 있으며 체계적 안전경영을 위한 전략수립이 필요한 상황이 되었다. 본 연구에서는 AHP 설문 분석을 통해 안전경영책임계획 상의 추진전략 및 세부과제 도출과 재난안전관리 운영목표 수립을 위한 합리적인 프로세스 및 결과를 제시하였으며 시사점으로 안전관리 체계구축과 ICT 기반 안전 기술이 중요하다는 결론을 도출하였다.

코로나 19 시대에서 국내 건설현장 또한 그 영향에서 벗어날 수 없으며, 이를 예방하기 위해 현장 방역·위생관리 강화, 인원 간 대면 접촉을 최소화하는 등 노력을 기울이고 있다. 특히 안전보건교육 운영상에 있어 교육 인원 규모 축소 등 많은 변화가 있으며 안전보건교육 소홀로 인한 재해 발생 증가 우려의 목소리 또한 높아지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 현장의 안전보건교육의 실태조사를 통해 포스트 코로나 시대에 부합하는 교육방향을 설정하고자 하며 이를 통해 사고감축에 기여하기 바란다.

이 연구에서는 토착 문화심리학을 토대로 사고와 안전에 대한 확률론적인 시각과 결정론적인 시각을 비교 분석하였다. 한국뿐만 아니라 대부분의 선진국이나 개발도상국에서 사고로 인한 사망과 재해는 예방이 가능하다. 이 연구의 첫 번째 부분에서는 사회과학과 응용과학에서 채택되어온 선형의 결정론적인 모형의 한계에 대해 설명하였다. 가정 직장과 사회에서 발생하는 사고와 안전의 확률론적인 속성에 대한 이해를 위해, 토착 문화심리학에서 주장되어온 상호작용 모형이 제안되었다. 두 번째로는 사고와 안전에 관련된 요소들을 검토하였다. 세 번째로는 한국사회에서 사고를 예방하고 안전을 증진하기 위해 확률론적 모형의 활용에 대해 설명하였다.

우정사업본부는 국민들에게 우편, 예금, 보험 등 양질의 우정서비스를 제공하는 공적 역할을 수행하고 있다. 비록, 산업의 발전으로 우편기계가 자동화 되고 있지만 우편 소통 과정에서 종사자는 교통사고, 끼임사고, 근골격계질환 등 각종 산업재해에 노출되어 있어 중대재해를 예방하기 위한 산업안전보건 활동이 필요한 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 우정사업본부 소속 공영우편업 물류센터에 근무하는 종사자를 대상으로 안전보건 의식 수준을 분석하였다. 분석 결과 안전보건 의식 향상을 위해 규정 및 절차, 조직 구성, 안전보건교육 방법 개선 등 중점 추진하여야 할 과제를 5가지 항목으로 구분하여 제언하였고, 효율적인 산업재해 예방을 위한 제도 수립에 기초할 자료를 제시하였다.
