The purpose of this study is to clearly recognize critical issues and to suggest relevant solutions for the issues since too many deaths and injuries due to industrial accidents has been going on for a long time, also the deaths of workers is a problem that affects not only one person's death but also many people connected with it and society as a whole. And the need for a strict Serious Accidents Punishment Act is sympathetic. However, the current Severe Accident Punishment Act is not welcomed by both labor and management due to its ambiguity, and it is suggested that the punishment and legislative content of the management manager who violated the duty to ensure safety and health is abstract and the level of punishment is excessive. In addition, due to the ambiguous part of the management manager's interpretation and serious industrial accidents, most companies appoint large law firms to receive legal interpretation and advice, so only law firms are getting full, and the cost that companies invest to protect the CEO is actually a safety accident. It is suggested that the current enforcement ordinance, which has ambiguity, needs to be revised because it must be entered into as a preventive cost.
Purpose: The purpose of this study aimed to investigate job stress levels of occupational health managers and whether job stress levels were affected by various factors such as size and types of company and work-related characteristics of occupational health managers. Methods: The study was conducted from May to September 2011 in the chemicals manufacturing factories in Korea and total subjects were 59 occupational health managers. We measured job stress levels of occupational health managers using Korean occupational stress scale (KOSS) questionnaires and the information of company characteristics was obtained using a self-reported questionnaire. Results: The characteristics of company such as type, size and industries and job characteristics of occupational health managers were significant factors in job stress. Job demand, job control, job insecurity, organizational system and occupational environment scores were significantly associated with type, size and industries of company. In multiple regression analyses, we found that job demand was significantly associated with occupational position and type of company, and job insecurity was significantly associated with working hour. Also, we found that lack of reward was significantly associated with education level, speciality, duration of work and hour and type of company. Conclusion: These results indicate that job stress of occupational health managers is significantly associated with work-related characteristics and company's characteristics.
Purpose: In this study, we proposed a plan to establish and implement a safety and health management system by utilizing corporate resources so that manufacturing companies can effectively respond to the Serious Accident Punishment Act. Methods: We identified critical factors and response strategies necessary for manufacturing companies to respond to the Severe Accident Punishment Act effectively and surveyed employees working at the company regarding their importance and performance. Results: In this study, we presented a method of strategically constructing the response strategies (20) shown in previous studies by matching them with the company's resources (leadership, organization, budget, education, and awareness). In particular, leadership refers to the ability of managers who can prevent serious accidents by carrying out safety and health security obligations to avoid safety and health hazards or risks to employees in the business or workplace that is controlled, operated, and managed. Conclusion: Based on the manager's firm leadership, the system's purpose and direction must be accurately set and sufficiently communicated to members. In addition, for companies to identify and improve risk factors on their own, a Process approach must be established to improve execution by referring to legal standards together with field managers and supervisors.

Objectives: This research was conducted to recognize dental health care employees' awareness of patient safety culture and to examine the association between awareness of patient safety culture and patient safety activities. Methods: The subject of this research includes the dental health care employees from 11 different dental hospitals in the nation, dental offices in the 6 different general hospitals in Seoul, and 4 different private dental offices in 2014. A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 485 dental health care employees from March 17 to April 3, 2014. Multiple regression models were used in the analysis. Results: First, the dental health employees' awareness of patient safety culture was 3.25 on average. The extent of patient safety activities was 2.75. The behavior of the supervisor/manager and the adequate explanation showed positive correlation with r=0.213 (p<0.001). The process of communication and the preventative inspection of the medical equipment showed negative correlation with r=-0.258 (p<0.001), and especially the awareness of patient safety culture and the infection control exercise showed the most significant correlation (r=0.293, p<0.001). Second, hospital environment factor of patient safety perceptions positively were related to most of patient safety management activities after controlling several covariates. Conclusions: The result of this research showed that most of the patient safety culture perceptions positively were correlated with patient safety activities. We also found that proper hospital environment, simple communication process, and positive perceptions for patient safety level were more likely to perform patient safety management activities after controlling several covariates. Improving the patient safety perceptions of dental hospital workers is an important consideration.
Although the safety management plan review system according to the Construction Technology Promotion Act for securing the safety of the construction work is a fundamental system essential for the prevention of the construction industry disaster, the necessity of its improvement has been raised because it often fails to meet the original purpose. In this study, through the analysis of the effect of the safety management plan and the problems of the operation, we suggest ways to improve it in view of the construction accident reduction and conducted surveys on the construction site through the questionnaires of the client, construction company, and construction business technology manager. In order to improve the effectiveness of this system as a result of the study, it is necessary to distribute the guidelines for the preparation of the safety management plan, manuals, etc., to simplify the contents of the safety management plan, also the step-by-step approval of the safety plan can be a solution. For this, it is necessary to revise the policy through consultation with the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs and related experts.
Objectives: To outline overall duties of quality improvement (QI) performers within a health care organization, thus describing their key tasks, including task element-related frequency, importance and difficulty in enough detail. Methods: A DACUM (Developing A CurriculUM) workshop took place to outline overall job activities of QI performers. To examine the scope of their duty and task, we performed a questionnaire survey of 338 QI performers from 111 hospitals. Results: The results of our survey showed that for the task assigned to each QI performer, there were 10 duties, 31 tasks and 119 task elements. Respondents cited a project planning as the most frequent/important duty, and a research was the highest level of difficulty in their duty. They also said that the most frequent task was index management, the most important task was a business plan, and the highest level of difficulty was a practical application of QI research. QI performers added that the most frequent task element was receipt of patient safety reporting in patient safety system, the most important task element was an analysis for patient safety and its improvement, and the highest level of difficulty was a regional influence analysis related to the patient safety and its improvement. Conclusion: To ensure that QI performers play a pivotal role as a manager to better improve patient safety and the quality of health care services, proper training program for them should be developed by reflecting the results of our study.
Depending on the growth of the construction industry, size of construction sites are becoming enlarged, and construction work is becoming diversified as well. However, this increases risks of safety accidents. In order to alleviate this problem, some large construction companies have implemented a Safety Patrol Management System (SPMS) in order to reduce accidents on construction sites. Aimed at the construction sites where SPMS has been applied, the purpose of this research is to calculate the proper number of SPMS safety mangers by comparing and contrasting the number of safety managers per person for each site with different sizes and the converted accident ratio. In addition, we also aim to calculate the adequate amount of SPMS safety management costs compared to the total amount of construction expenses required once SPMS is introduced.
The study aimed to investigate the influence of perceived patient safety culture on patient safety management activity in the dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 292 dental hygienists in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggido from March 1 to April 8, 2016. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects (9 items), patient safety culture (44 items), and patient safety management activity (25 items) by Likert 5 point scale. Data were analyzed by t test, one way ANOVA, stepwise multiple regression test, and post-hoc Tukey test using SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The perceived patient safety culture was 3.50 on average. Entire organization was the highest score (3.68) and followed the communication process (3.55), the environment of work unit (3.47), the attitude of supervisor/manager (3.45), and the frequency of events reported (2.98). The average of patient safety management activity was 3.71. As for the factors of patient safety culture on patient safety management activity, communication process was the most influential factor (${\beta}=0.268$), and followed the entire organization (${\beta}=0.265$), the environment of work unit (${\beta} =0.166$), the frequency of events reported (${\beta}=0.104$), and among the control variables. Work place proved to be the only significant variable. Conclusions: In order to promote patient safety management activity of dental institutions, the patient safety culture should be created and established. The influence of communication process and patient safety culture at entire organization level was huge. So the environment of work unit and the perceived patient safety culture in the process of reported events were influencing factors. The strategy for patient safety management activity should be considered because of low level of perceived patient safety culture.
It is a fact that domestic performance art has been sharply progressed but it is focused on only performance quality technique, not on safety of performers and the audience. It is a pity that people's effort to keep safe stage environment have not traced to innovative change, eventually leading to be forced to perform under hazardous condition. This study is to find out and identify that domestic regulation and accident cases are investigated and compared with cases of advanced countries, to verify that performer and the audience are main elements to develop performance art. And it is to show more effective safety measure after pointing out hazardous elements. Research change is limited to review only performance ones of all cultural facilities and to review accident cases from these places to show reasonable safety measures for stage facilities. Operation manager covers almost all of areas such as devices, management, despite a fact that they take charge of stage facilities, illumination, sounds, already. Some conclusions are as follows; 1) performance theatre-related regulations should be established again. domestic safety standards for performance theatre safety should be established. 2) characteristic and purpose of performance place should be clarified at the stage planning and design of them 3) operation expert performance place is required to be trained to cover emergency situation at any time.
This paper presents the perspective of the Structural Mechanics program of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) on the damage assessment of structures for the period 2006-2009 when the author was serving as Program Manager at AFOSR. It is found that damage assessment of structures plays a very important role in assuring the safety and operational readiness of US Air Force fleet. The current fleet has many aging aircraft, which poses a considerable challenge for the operators and maintainers. The nondestructive evaluation technology is rather mature and able to detect damage with considerable reliability during the periodic maintenance inspections. The emerging structural health monitoring methodology has great potential, because it will use on-board damage detection sensors and systems, will be able to offer on-demand structural health bulletins. Considerable fundamental and applied research is still needed to enable the development, implementation, and dissemination of structural health monitoring technology.
