  • Let W(t) be a Wiener path, let $\xi\;:\;[0,\;{\infty})\;\to\;\mathbb{R}$ be a continuous and increasing function satisfying $\xi$(0) > 0, let $$T_{/xi}=inf\{t{\geq}0\;:\;W(t){\geq}\xi(t)\}$$ be the first-passage time of W over $\xi$, and let F denote the distribution function of $T_{\xi}$. Then the first passage problem has a unique continuous solution as following $$F(t)=u(t)+{\sum_{n=1}^\infty}\int_0^t\;H_n(t,s)u(s)ds$$, where $$u(t)=2\Psi(\xi(t)/\sqrt{t})\;and\;H_1(t,s)=d\Phi\;(\{\xi(t)-\xi(s)\}/\sqrt{t-s})/ds\;for\;0\;{\leq}\;s.

  • In this study, the stability of concentrated colloidal liquid aphrons (CLAs) containing Aliquat 336 was measured. CLAs in the continuous phase are stabilized by water-soluble surfactant and oil-soluble surfactant. To compare the stability of CLAs, half-life was introduced. According to the change of state of solution, the rate of break-up of concentrated CLAs changed rigorously at critical coagulation concentration. Critical coagulation concentration was measured with changing pH. The effects of ionic strength and concentration of Sodium Dodecyl Benzene Sulfonate (SDBS) on the stability of concentrated CLAs in the continuous phase were also investigated.

  • Performance evaluation of a regenerative pump has been compared with a conventional open channel impeller and a S-shaped continuous impeller designed newly. To analyze flow field for both pumps, analysis code, CFX, is employed. Unstructured grids are used to represent a composite geometryincluding blade, casing and ducts. Throughout the comparisons between numerical simulation and experiments, the predicted efficiency has a good agreement with the experimental one. It is noted that the pump having a S-shaped continuous impeller is about 4.8 percent more efficient than conventional one, which is due to the relatively large pressure increase. Detailed flow field inside the pump is also analyzed and compared.

  • In contrast to traditional data communication, the multimedia communication must support variable requirements to multimedia application service. Specially, it is a critical issue that the synchronization supports a continuous and temporal relationship media playout in a distributed environment. But the continuously generated media in source can't guarantee the constant interval on playout for the destination due to the inconsistent network transmission delay and transmission error. In this paper, we introduce a intramedia synchronization mechanism for the continuous and synchronous playout of multimedia stream such as audio and video across a communication network. The proposed mechanism is based on the user defined QoS(Quality of Service) and the playout correction algorithm to guarantee the continuous media playout at the receiver.

  • This study investigated the effects of the light conditions on the productivity of scenedesmus dimorphus in the continuous mass cultivation system. To compare the algal productivity according to the light conditions, S. dimorphus was cultivated continuously under the wide range of light intensity(200-600 PPFD) and various light wavelength(white light and red-blue mixed light). After 100 days of cultivation under the different light intensity, the productivity of S. dimorphus increased as light intensity decreased. So, the productivity was maximized as 100 mg/L/d when light intensity was 200 PPFD. In case of light wavelength, the productivity of S. dimorphus was enhanced about 20% with the white light compared to that of the red-blue mixed light. Consequently, the optimal light conditions for the continuous mass cultivation of S. dimorphus were 200 PPFD as light intensity and white light as light wavelength.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing the user's continuous usage intention of computer games. A research model was developed which shows that the independent variables of value, expectation confirmation, perceived enjoyment affect user satisfaction and continuous usage intention. To test the six hypotheses, survey data were collected from 104 respondents, and hypotheses tests as well as a confirmatory factor analysis were conducted using a partial least square analysis tool. The statistical analysis result showed that expectation confirmation had a significant positive effect on satisfaction, and satisfaction also had a strong positive effect on the game user's continuous usage intention. Perceived enjoyment showed a highly strong positive effect on satisfaction. In addition, satisfaction was found to have full mediation effects in the relationship between expectation confirmation and continuous usage intention, and perceived enjoyment and continuous usage intention respectively. This result provides an important implication that continuous usage intention occurs through user satisfaction, and also indicates the contribution of this study for the game industry. Another contribution of this study is to introduce critical independent variables from the marketing and information technology domains in order to explain continuous usage intention of computer games.

  • This paper presents a strategy for the quality assurance of the continuous preflex composite girder bridge through the camber management of the girder during construction. The construction stages which require welding, balanced preflexion loads at the ends, etc. may cause unexpected large deformation to the preflex girder. Furthermore, these defects can be detected by measurements and analyses of the girder behavior which is sometimes time consuming. In the present study, preflex girder's camber data at equally spaced nodes in each construction stage are obtained and analyzed for the quality control of thee span continuous preflex girder composite bridge.

  • For a GNSS receiver's robustness against RFI and the high accuracy of navigation solution in GNSS, interference source detection and mitigation are needed. In this paper, an adaptive lattice IIR notch filter is employed to track single-tone continuous wave and swept continuous wave interference signals, and an interference detection method is proposed. Furthermore, this paper presents interference source characterization algorithm using multiple ground stations' interference detection results. The measurement of the signal powers from each ground station is used to build weighting factors to estimate the type of the interference. The performance of interference detection algorithm is simulated for scenarios of GPS signal in the presence of single-tone continuous wave interference and swept continuous wave interference.

  • We presented the automatic extraction technique of a biological internal organization from full-color continuous images. It was implemented using the localized homogeneousness of color intensity, and also using the continuity between neighboring images. Moreover, we set the "four-level status value" of area condition as a value showing "area possibility. This played important role of preventing a miss-judgement of area definition. These our approach had a beneficial effect on tracking color and shape change of the interest area in continuous extraction. As a resell we succeeded in extraction of mouse's stomach from continuous 50 images.

  • In this experimental study, six post-tensioned light weight concrete (LWC) continuous one-way slabs were tested in the following manner: the flexural behaviors of the members were compared with the calculations from the existing standards. The test also examined the effect of prestressing in tendons and proper prestress conditions to reduce the deflection and crack width, and to enhance the flexural capacity and ductility of LWC members. Flexural capacity and stress increments in unbonded tendons of the specimens were compared with those of the simply supported normal and the lightweight concrete members. The suggested safety limit from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) regulation on the maximum capacity and the stress incremental in unbonded tendons were also compared with the test results under simple and continuous supporting conditions.
