선행강우를 고려한 제주하천 유출특성 분석 (Rainfall-Runoff Characteristics in a Jeju Stream considering Antecedent Precipitation)

  • The rainfall-runoff characteristics in Jeju Island significantly differ from those in inland, due to highly permeable geologic features driven by volcanic island. Streams are usually sustained in the dry conditions and thereby the rainfall-runoff characteristics changes in terms of initiating stream discharge and its types, depending highly on the antecedent precipitation. Among various the rainfall-runoff characteristics, lag time mainly used for flood warning system in river and direct runoff ratio for determining water budget to estimate groundwater recharge quantity are practically crucial. They are expected to vary accordingly with the given antecedent precipitation. This study assessed the lag time in the measured hydrograph and direct runoff ratio, which are especially in the upstream watershed having the outlet as $2^{nd}$ Dongsan bridge of Han stream, Jeju, based upon several typhoon events such as Khanun, Bolaven, Tembin, Sanba as well as a specific heavy rainfall event in August 23, 2012. As results, considering that the lag time changed a bit over the rainfall events, the averaged lag time without antecedent precipitation was around 1.5 hour, but it became increased with antecedent precipitation. Though the direct run-off ratio showed similar percentages (i.e., 23%)without antecedent precipitation, it was substantially increased up to around 45% when antecedent precipitation existed. In addition, the direct run-off ration without antecedent precipitation was also very high (43.8%), especially when there was extremely heavy rainfall event in the more than five hundreds return period such as typhoon Sanba.

  • An analytic method was developed for the quantitation of $\Delta$$^{9}-$ tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and 11-nor-9-carboxy THC (THC-COOH) in human hair. After hair samples were pulverized using Freezer Mill, deuterated internal standards were added and digested in 1 N NaOH at $100^{\circ}C$ water bath for 30 min. Digest solutions were extracted by 5 ml hexane:ethyl acetate (90:10) after acidification with acetic acid. The organic phase was evaporated under N 2 and derivatized by BSTFA (with 1% TMCS) at $85^{\circ}C$ for 45 min. The derivatized solution was separated on HP-5MS column ($30m{\times}0.25mm{\times}0.25mm$) and detected using EI-GC-MS with selective ion monitoring mode. The assay of calibration was ranged from 5 to 100 ng/50 mg hair ($r^2$>0.99) for THC and THC-COOH. Within and between-run precision were calculated at 6, 30, 60 ng/50 mg hair with coefficients of variation less than 11%. Within and between run accuracies at the same concentrations were$\pm$14% and $\pm$30% of target for both analytes, respectively. Absolute and relative recovery at 10 and 100 ng were 60∼91%. The method was used to detect and quantify THC and THC-COOH in cannabis abuser's hairs (N = 16) and SRM (N=5, THC 1 ng/mg, NIST). We detected THC and THC-COOH in only one hair sample. In SRM, % accuracy was 93% (range 86∼103%) and precision (% CV) was 8.14. We began to set up a quantitative analysis of THC and THC-COOH using EI-GC-MS. Continuously, we need to modify and develop this method in order to apply for identification in cannanbis users' hair.

국제투자협정에서 「이행요건」 부과금지에 관한 비교연구 (A Comparative Study on the Prohibition of Performance Requirements in International Investment Agreements)

  • Since imposing Performance Requirements (PRs) on investors have been conducted as a means to protect a host state's domestic industry in the short run, with its effect on improving the international balance of payments, it has been implemented mostly in developing countries. From the viewpoint of investors, however, PRs hinder free competition and investment activities and have the effect of distorting international trade activities; therefore, they are expected to bring detrimental effects on the host state's economic development in the long run. PRs provided by International Investment Agreements (IIAs) and WTO-TRIMs, too, included many abstract regulations which are grounded on the host state's economic efficiency in the past; however, those PRs are gradually being more concretely specified, shifting to a form of prohibition with the goals of increasing the protection on investors and realizing investment liberalization. Accordingly, when Korea freshly concludes IIAs or revises them afterwards, one should focus more on following the points regarding PRs. First, to protect Korean companies' investment activities, it is advantageous to list the contents of prohibited PRs extensively and concretely and create a stipulation. Second, it is necessary to list the contents of the PRs prohibited and add the phrases for prohibiting "any other similar requirements" explicitly, as well so as to cover the PRs that can appear newly. Third, as in the cases associated with PRs, issuable matters are mostly either the range of applying PRs or the conditions of applying them (relevance or detrimental effects); therefore, it is necessary to classify the cases accumulated by issues and analyze them thoroughly. In conclusion, as this study has analyzed the theoretical characteristics of PRs provided in IIAs and related cases and suggests exquisite theory regarding PRs, it not only lays fundamental grounds for follow-up research but also gives useful and practical guidelines for the parties concerned and the arbitrators according to the ISDS procedure.

터커 분해 및 은닉층 병렬처리를 통한 임베디드 시스템의 다중 DNN 가속화 기법 (Multi-DNN Acceleration Techniques for Embedded Systems with Tucker Decomposition and Hidden-layer-based Parallel Processing)

  • 딥러닝 기술의 발달로 무인 자동차, 드론, 로봇 등의 임베디드 시스템 분야에서 DNN을 활용하는 사례가 많아지고 있다. 대표적으로 자율주행 시스템의 경우 정확도가 높고 연산량이 큰 몇 개의 DNN들을 동시에 수행하는 것이 필수적이다. 하지만 상대적으로 낮은 성능을 갖는 임베디드 환경에서 다수의 DNN을 동시에 수행하면 추론에 걸리는 시간이 길어진다. 이러한 현상은 추론 결과에 따른 동작이 제때 이루어지지 않아 비정상적인 기능을 수행하는 문제를 발생시킬 수 있다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서 제안한 솔루션은 먼저 연산량이 큰 DNN에 터커 분해 기법을 적용하여 연산량을 감소시킨다. 그다음으로 DNN 모델들을 GPU 내부에서 은닉층 단위로 최대한 병렬적으로 수행될 수 있게 한다. 실험 결과 DNN의 추론 시간이 제안된 기법을 적용하기 전 대비 최대 75.6% 감소하였다.

The Horizon Run 5 Cosmological Hydrodynamical Simulation: Probing Galaxy Formation from Kilo- to Giga-parsec Scales

  • Horizon Run 5 (HR5) is a cosmological hydrodynamical simulation which captures the properties of the Universe on a Gpc scale while achieving a resolution of 1 kpc. This enormous dynamic range allows us to simultaneously capture the physics of the cosmic web on very large scales and account for the formation and evolution of dwarf galaxies on much smaller scales. Inside the simulation box. we zoom-in on a high-resolution cuboid region with a volume of 1049 × 114 × 114 Mpc3. The subgrid physics chosen to model galaxy formation includes radiative heating/cooling, reionization, star formation, supernova feedback, chemical evolution tracking the enrichment of oxygen and iron, the growth of supermassive black holes and feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN) in the form of a dual jet-heating mode. For this simulation we implemented a hybrid MPI-OpenMP version of the RAMSES code, specifically targeted for modern many-core many thread parallel architectures. For the post-processing, we extended the Friends-of-Friend (FoF) algorithm and developed a new galaxy finder to analyse the large outputs of HR5. The simulation successfully reproduces many observations, such as the cosmic star formation history, connectivity of galaxy distribution and stellar mass functions. The simulation also indicates that hydrodynamical effects on small scales impact galaxy clustering up to very large scales near and beyond the baryonic acoustic oscillation (BAO) scale. Hence, caution should be taken when using that scale as a cosmic standard ruler: one needs to carefully understand the corresponding biases. The simulation is expected to be an invaluable asset for the interpretation of upcoming deep surveys of the Universe.

준고속 도시철도의 진동분석 및 저감대책 (Vibration Analysis and Mitigable Countermeasures of Semi High-speed Subway Electric Trains)

  • Subway electric trains need to be faster for accommodation of long distance passengers. The faster run of the existing trains results in deterioration of ride quality due to noise and vibration. To reduce the noise and vibration of the electric train, a running test of the electric train was performed and an ADAMS/Rail model was set up to verify the running test results. The experimental results show that the sources of the cabin noise and vibration basically comes from the irregularity of the railroad track and the deterioration of the connection part between cabin and bogie. Consequently for mitigation of noise and vibration of the electric train, the redesign of the center pivot with softer stiffness and the minimization of rail irregularity are necessary. the frequent maintenance of the train will lead to better comport.

지체장애 주부의 가사노동 대처방안에 대한 사례연구 (The disabled homemakers Copping Strategies on Housework)

  • This research is to understand the actual conditions of the degrees of housework share, the usage of kitchen equipments, the adjustments of residence, and community service to understand difficulties on housework that disabled homemakers can have, and to present possible copping strategies for homelife improvement of disabled homemakers. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows : 1) Main difficulties are that the disabled homemakers feel when performing housework are the preparation of meals, doing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning up etc, which are the essential parts of ones homelife. 2) The result shows that having a rice cooker, a refrigerator, and a stove is a necessity for the disabled homemakers and that the degree of usage is pretty high. 3) Most of the disabled homemakers lack basic adjustments for the disabled in their residence such as the adjustments of the height of shelves. 4) Considering that they do not recognize community service for them, and most of them are not covered by any service, we can conclude that community service for disabled homemakers is not run enough.

Virtual Scheduling Algorithm의 VLSI 구현 (VLSI-Implementation of the Virtual Scheduling Algorithm)

  • Proposed numerous algorithms for the policing function have mainly focused on their performances. Besides their performance evaluation, however, the VLSI-implementation of these algorithms is worth consideration as well. Although, no algorithms for the policing function have been standardized up to now, ITU-T I.371 suggests two examples of algorithms, the Virtual Scheduling Algorithm (VSA) and the Continuous State Leaky Bucket algorithm. In this paper, we suggest the architecture of a policing device implementing the VSA among various algorithms for the peak cell rate policing and discuss some issues on the implementation. We also present how to select the policing modes of the two devices used to realize various policing schemes and show the experimental results obtained under four different peak cell rate values to confirm that the device performs the policing function satisfactorily. We exploit the priority encoder to run the algorithm in parallel instead of sequentially, which reduces the operation time to a great extent.

Uniqueness of an Optimal Run-up for a Steep Incline of a Train

  • An optimal driving strategy of a train in a long journey on a nonsteep track has four phases: an initial power phase, a long hold speed phase, a coast phase and a final brake phase. The majority of the journey is speed holding. On a track with steep gradients, it becomes necessary to vary the strategy around steep sections of track because it is not possible to hold a constant steep on steep track. Instead we must interrupt the speed hold phase with a power phase. The aim of this paper is to show that there is a unique power phase that satisfies the necessary conditions for an optimal journey. The problem is developed and solved for various cases, from a simple single steep gradient to a complicated multiple steep gradient section. For each case, we construct a set of new conditions for optimality of the power phase that minimises the energy used during the power phase subject to a weighted time penalty. We then use the new necessary conditions to develop a calculate scheme for finding an optimal power phase for a steep incline. We also present an example to confirm the uniqueness of an optimal power phase.

  • It is an well-known fact that dynamic properties should be considered in design and maintenance of civil structures undergoing dynamic force such as rail track. For designing of the rail tack structures, dynamic properties of track bed soil such as shear modulus (G) and damping coefficients(D) obtained in small to medium range of shear strain must be known. In general, small size sample of D=5 cm and H=10cm has been used mostly for test convenience. However, ratio of largest particle diameter of the soil to sample diameter is very important and affects to the values of dynamic soil properties in track bed. In this study, an RC/TS test apparatus was built and was run for testing a medium size soil sample that can handle with compacted soil sample up to 10 cm diameter and 20 cm height.
