  • In this paper, we propose a SDN-based fog computing service mobility support scheme. Fog computing architecture has been attracted because it enables task offloading services to IoT(Internet of Things) devices which has limited computing and power resources. However, since static as well as mobile IoT devices are candidate service targets for the fog computing service, the efficient task offloading scheme considering the mobility should be required. Especially for the IoT services which need low-latency response, the new connection and task offloading delay with the new fog computing node after handover can occur QoS(Quality of Service) degradation. Therefore, this paper proposes an efficient service mobility support scheme which considers both task migration and flow rule pre-installations. Task migration allows for the service connectivity when the fog computing node needs to be changed. In addition, the flow rule pre-installations into the forwarding nodes along the path after handover enables to reduce the connection delay and service interruption time.

  • Packet classification carried out in Internet routers is one of the challenging tasks, because it has to be performed at wire-speed using five header fields at the same time. In this paper, we propose a leaf-pushed AQT bitmap trie. The proposed architecture applies the leaf-pushing to an area-based quad-trie (AQT) to reduce unnecessary off-chip memory accesses. The proposed architecture also applies a bitmap trie, which is a kind of multi-bit tries, to improve search performance and scalability. For performance evaluation, simulations are conducted by using rule sets ACL, FW, and IPC, with the sizes of 1k, 5k, and 10k. Simulation results show that the number of off-chip memory accesses is less than one regardless of set types or set sizes. Additionally, since the proposed architecture applies a bitmap trie, the required number of on-chip memory accesses is the 50% of the leaf-pushed AQT trie. In addition, our proposed architecture shows good scalability in the required on-chip memory size, where the scalability is identified by the stable change in the required memory sizes, as the size of rule sets increases.

  • Recently most parking control systems provide customers with various services, but most of the services are just the extension of parking spaces, automatic parking control system and so on. It is essential to use the satisfaction degree as the extent that customer are satisfied with parking control system to improve the quality of the system services and diversify the system services. The degree of satisfaction is different from customer to customer in same condition and can be represented as linguistic variables. In this paper, we present therefore a technique that quantify how much customer are satisfied with parking control system and fuzzy inference system architecture as a solution that can help us to make a efficient decision for these parking problems. In this architecture, inference engine using fuzzy logic compares context data with the rules in the fuzzy rule-based system, gets the sub-results, aggregates them and defuzzifies the aggregated result using MATLAB application programming to obtain crisp value. Fuzzy inference system architecture presented in this paper, can be used as a efficient method to analyze the satisfaction degree which is represented as fuzzy linguistic variables by human emotion. And it can be used to improve the satisfaction degree of not only parking system but also other service systems of various domains.

  • The maintenance of a ship is essential for safe navigation and hence regular surveys are prescribed according to the rule of classification societies. A hull inspection is generally performed by professional divers, but it takes a long time and the efficiency is low in terms of time and cost. In this research, a ROV(Remotely Operated Vehicle) named as SNU-ROV(Seoul National University-ROV) is developed to replace the conventional inspection method. In this system, the ROV is intended to be used for inspecting ship and harbor because harbor inspection is merging as a safety measure against any possible terror actions. In order to increase the efficiency of inspection, the ROV must be able to measure the exact position of damages. SNU-ROV has a positioning system based on LBL(Long Base Line). In shallow water such as harbor, however, LBL has bad DOP(Dilution of Precision) in the depth direction due to the limited depth. Thus LBL only can not locate the exact depth position. To solve the DOP problem, a pressure sensor is introduced to LBL and a complementary filter is attached by using indirect feedback Kalman filter. Thus developed positioning system is verified by simulation and experiment in towing tank.

  • Although stochastic programming and feedback control approaches could efficiently mitigate the overdue risks caused by inherent uncertainties in ground conditions, the lack of formal representations of planners' rationales for resource allocation still prevents planners from applying these approaches due to the inability to consider comprehensive resource allocation policies for hard rock tunnel projects. To overcome the limitations, the authors developed an ontology that represents the project duration estimation rationales, considering the impacts of ground conditions, excavation methods, project states, resources (i.e., given equipment fleet), and resource allocation policies (RAPs). This ontology consists of 5 main classes with 22 subclasses. It enables planners to explicitly and comprehensively represent the necessary information to rapidly and consistently estimate the excavation durations during construction. 10 rule sets (i.e., policies) are considered and categorized into two types: non-progress-related and progress-related policies. In order to provide simplified information about the remaining durations of phases for progress-related policies, the ontology also represents encoding principles. The estimation of excavation schedules is carried out based on a hypothetical example considering two types of policies. The estimation results reveal the feasibility, potential for flexibility, and comprehensiveness of the developed ontology. Further research to improve the duration estimation methodology is warranted.

  • In this paper, we propose competitive fuzzy polynomial neurons-based advanced Self-Organizing Neural Networks(SONN) architecture for optimal model identification and discuss a comprehensive design methodology supporting its development. The proposed SONN dwells on the ideas of fuzzy rule-based computing and neural networks. And it consists of layers with activation nodes based on fuzzy inference rules and regression polynomial. Each activation node is presented as Fuzzy Polynomial Neuron(FPN) which includes either the simplified or regression polynomial fuzzy inference rules. As the form of the conclusion part of the rules, especially the regression polynomial uses several types of high-order polynomials such as linear, quadratic, and modified quadratic. As the premise part of the rules, both triangular and Gaussian-like membership (unction are studied and the number of the premise input variables used in the rules depends on that of the inputs of its node in each layer. We introduce two kinds of SONN architectures, that is, the basic and modified one with both the generic and the advanced type. Here the basic and modified architecture depend on the number of input variables and the order of polynomial in each layer. The number of the layers and the nodes in each layer of the SONN are not predetermined, unlike in the case of the popular multi-layer perceptron structure, but these are generated in a dynamic way. The superiority and effectiveness of the Proposed SONN architecture is demonstrated through two representative numerical examples.

  • In this study, we introduce the adaptive Polynomial Neuro-Fuzzy Networks(PNFN) architecture generated from the fusion of fuzzy inference system and PNN algorithm. The PNFN dwells on the ideas of fuzzy rule-based computing and neural networks. Fuzzy inference system is applied in the 1st layer of PNFN and PNN algorithm is employed in the 2nd layer or higher. From these the multilayer structure of the PNFN is constructed. In order words, in the Fuzzy Inference System(FIS) used in the nodes of the 1st layer of PNFN, either the simplified or regression polynomial inference method is utilized. And as the premise part of the rules, both triangular and Gaussian like membership function are studied. In the 2nd layer or higher, PNN based on GMDH and regression polynomial is generated in a dynamic way, unlike in the case of the popular multilayer perceptron structure. That is, the PNN is an analytic technique for identifying nonlinear relationships between system's inputs and outputs and is a flexible network structure constructed through the successive generation of layers from nodes represented in partial descriptions of I/O relatio of data. The experiment part of the study involves representative time series such as Box-Jenkins gas furnace data used across various neurofuzzy systems and a comparative analysis is included as well.

  • Several fatigue damages have recently been reported which cannot be resolved in the context of the existing fatigue design procedure, and they are suspected to be the cracks induced by the low cycle fatigue mechanism. To tackle the problem, a series of material tests together with fatigue tests have been carried out, and elasto-plastic notch strain analysis using nonlinear kinematic hardening model has been performed. The cyclic stress-strain curves are obtained and the nonlinear kinematic hardening model was calibrated based on the obtained material data. Also, the fatigue test with non-load-carrying cruciform fillet welded joint has been performed in low cycle fatigue regime. Then, the notch strain analyses have been carried out to find the precise elasto-plastic behavior of the material at the notch root of the cruciform joint. The variation of the material property from the base metal via HAZ up to the weld metal was taken into account using spatial variation of the material property. Then the detail elasto-plastic behavior of the welded joint subjected to the repeated cyclic loading has been investigated further through the comparison with the prediction with Neuber's rule. The calibration of the nonlinear kinematic hardening model and nonlinear notch strain analyses have been performed using the commercial FE program ABAQUS.

  • This paper deals with free vibration of FG sandwich annular sector plates on Pasternak elastic foundation with different boundary conditions, based on the three-dimensional theory of elasticity. The plates with simply supported radial edges and arbitrary boundary conditions on their circular edges are considered. The influence of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) waviness, aspect ratio, internal pores and graphene platelets (GPLs) on the vibrational behavior of functionally graded nanocomposite sandwich plates is investigated in this research work. The distributions of CNTs are considered functionally graded (FG) or uniform along the thickness of upper and bottom layers of the sandwich sectorial plates and their mechanical properties are estimated by an extended rule of mixture. In this study, the classical theory concerning the mechanical efficiency of a matrix embedding finite length fibers has been modified by introducing the tube-to-tube random contact, which explicitly accounts for the progressive reduction of the tubes' effective aspect ratio as the filler content increases. The core of structure is porous and the internal pores and graphene platelets (GPLs) are distributed in the matrix of core either uniformly or non-uniformly according to three different patterns. The elastic properties of the nanocomposite are obtained by employing Halpin-Tsai micromechanics model. A semi-analytic approach composed of 2D-Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (2D-GDQM) and series solution is adopted to solve the equations of motion. The fast rate of convergence and accuracy of the method are investigated through the different solved examples. Some new results for the natural frequencies of the plate are prepared, which include the effects of elastic coefficients of foundation, boundary conditions, material and geometrical parameters. The new results can be used as benchmark solutions for future researches.
