쌍계사 오층석탑모델에 대한 지진격리효과 진동대실험 (Shaking Table Test of the Model of Five-story Stone Pagoda of Sang-Gye-Sa Mounted on Base Isolation Systems)

  • Seismic performances of the base isolated model of Five Story Stone Pagoda were studied through shaking table tests. Friction pendulum system (FPS), Pure-friction system with laminated rubber bearing (LRB) and Ball with rubber bearing were selected fur the comparison of performances. Performances of specially designed isolation systems were tested dynamically using shaking table. The test results of isolated model are compared with those of fixed base model. Compared with fixed base model, the isolated model showed that it could withstand much higer intensity of earthquake motion. The Effective Peak Ground Acceleration (EPGA) value of isolated model when the top component tipped over was above twice of that value in case of fixed base model. According to the additional test results, the lower value of coefficient of friction than that of common frictional base isolation systems is more effective to protect the piled multi-block system of Pagoda against moderate intesity of ground motion.

Influence of Chlorine Treatment on Measurement of Crosslink Density of Wiper Blade

  • Automobile wiper blades are generally treated with chlorine to lower their friction coefficient with the windshield surface. This treatment could affect the crosslink density measurement of rubber vulcanizates, a material used in windshield wipers, which would consequently alter its chemical and physical properties. Therefore, this study evaluated the influence of chlorination on crosslink density measurements of natural rubber (NR) vulcanizates using a vehicle wiper blade. A method for determining the degree of chlorination was developed where the interaction parameter between the rubber and the swelling solvent was corrected. A decrease in the rubber sample swelling ratio was observed upon chlorination, and the chlorination penetrated less than 1% of the sample thickness. The chlorinated NR was assumed to be chloroprene rubber (CR), which was used to correct the interaction parameter. The results showed the CR contributed approximately 7% to the parameter.

  • Rubber composites were prepared by precured CIIR pulverized at knead shear force in order to research the effects of the BR/PCP composites. The particle size of domain in BR/CIIR composites was decreased and homogeneously dispersed by the precured CIIR pulverized. However, it was difficult to use the product when the content is 40 phr and precured of 40%. BR/PCP composites have improved mechanical properies as compared that of the addition of simply cut chip composite.

  • The influence of reinforcing UHMWPE powder on the tribological and mechanical properties of HDPE was investigated. The circularizing of UHMWPE powder was improved by high-speed rotation to enhance particle distribution and flowability. HDPE composites reinforced with UHMWPE powder in the range of 0-50 wt% were prepared by co-rotating twin screw extrusion. The abrasion resistance, plane friction coefficient, tensile strengths, and impact strengths of the composites were investigated as a function of the UHMWPE content. An increasing UHMWPE content decreased the plane friction coefficient and increased the abrasion resistance and impact strength. It is expected that HDPE composites reinforced with spherical UHMWPE powder particles can be used to improve the durability of products such as pipes in the future.

향상된 구형압입 고무 물성평가법 (Enhanced Spherical Indentation Techniques for Rubber Property Evaluation)

  • In this study, we enhance the numerical approach of Lee et al.$^{(1)}$ to spherical indentation technique for property evaluation of hyper-elastic rubber. We first determine the friction coefficient between rubber and indenter in a practical viewpoint. We perform finite element numerical simulations for deeper indentation depth. An optimal data acquisition spot is selected, which features sufficiently large strain energy density and negligible frictional effect. We then improve two normalized functions mapping an indentation load vs. deflection curve into a strain energy density vs. first invariant curve, the latter of which in turn gives the Yeoh-model constants. The enhanced spherical indentation approach produces the rubber material properties with an average error of less than 3%.

O-ring의 마찰, 마모 특성에 관한 실험적 고찰 (Experimental Investigation of Friction and Wear Characteristics of O-Ring)

  • O-rings are commonly used in machines as a seal. Due to prolonged use the surface of an O-ring can degrade which can lead to leakage as well as contamination. Damage of O-rings used in vacuum applications such as sputter is caused by various mechanisms. Particles detached from the O-ring may cause significant problems on the performance of the system in the vacuum chamber. Therefore, understanding the tribological behavior of O-rings is important to tackle the damage caused by repeated contact. In this work, FKM rubber was used for friction and wear tests conducted to investigate the tribological behavior of O-rings. A reciprocating type of a tribo-tester was used for the tests. The friction coefficient between the steel ball and the FKM specimen was quite high. Also, in order to identify the wear behavior, the surface of the FKM specimen was characterized using both optical and scanning electron microscopes. Evidence of wear due to adhesion and extrusion could be found. The results of this work will aid in improving the durability of O-rings.

자동차용 친환경적인 Sub-Mat의 Non-Slip기능 평가 (Evaluation of Non-slip for Vehicle's Environmental Sub-Mat)

  • 20세기의 자동차는 엔진의 주역할인 파워, 스피드를 중요시 하였으나, 소득수준의 향상에 따른 Well-being Trend의 확산 및 환경문제의 대두로 인해 쾌적성, 안락성, 안정성, 환경성 등을 중요시 하고 있다. 자동차용 Sub-Mat는 바닥 카펫 관리의 편의성 및 안락성 등을 위해 부가적으로 설치하는 매트로, 현재 자동차용 Sub Mat의 Backing 소재는 재생고무, PVC 등이 사용되고 있지만, 재생고무 Sub-Mat는 흡음성능이 나쁘고 PVC Backing Sub-Mat는 중량이 매우 커 연비 면에서 불리하고, 유해물질이 다량 포함되어 있어 점차적으로 사용이 어려워질 전망이다. 본 연구에서는 나일론 표피 파일 층, PE 접착 층, Backing(PET fiber)을 합포하여 제작한 sample1과 PET표피 파일 층, PE 접착층, Backing 부직포 층(PET)을 합포하여 제작한 sample2, Backing층을 PVC로 요철을 부여하여 제작한 sample3의 Non-Slip성을 평가하였으며, 이에 따른 접촉면의 변화를 비교 평가하였다.

자동차 기관의 마운팅 고무에 대한 마찰특성 연구 (A Study on the Friction Characteristics for Mounting Rubbers on the Automotive Engine)

  • 우리는 자동차 엔진을 지지하기 위한 고무에 대한 마찰특성을 연구하였다. 본 논문은 실험실에서 개발된 테스트 장비를 사용하여 여러 고무의 마찰 마모 특성을 실험적 연구에 의해 분석하였다. 마찰특성은 하중과 온도, 속도 등과 같은 여러 가지 조건 하에서의 마찰력과 수직하중으로부터 측정되었다. 따라서 자동차는 물론 각종 구조용으로 사용되어 지고 있는 고무는 여러 조건에 따라 마찰특성의 관계를 연구하였다.

  • The Light Rail Transit (LRT) System which has medium transport capacity between subway and bus(5,000-25,000 persons per hour) is the most advanced transportation system. It has many benefits, cheap construction, operational costs through driverless and flexible route planning. Also, the rubber tired AGT (K-AGT) of various LRT has a rubber wheels and side guide. The side guide type has an many advantages. but occur a vibration and friction noise through contact between guide rail and wheel. Most of point that decreased comport is vibration thorough the guide contact. In this paper, It is purpose to improve the maximum running speed of rubber tired AGT localization bogie which is currently developed from 70km/h to 80km/h. To satisfy comport index of railway vehicle that is required in performance test. we examined coefficient of bogie suspension which is designed.

Characterization of Chlorinated NR using Pyrolytic Technique

  • Vehicle wiper blades are typically treated with chlorine to lower their friction coefficient with the windshield surface. In this study, a chlorinated, natural rubber (NR) vehicle wiper blade was characterized using a pyrolytic technique. Unchlorinated and chlorinated wiper blades were pyrolyzed and the pyrolysis products were analyzed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Besides isoprene and dipentene, the other principal pyrolysis products such as 1,5,8-p-menthatriene (MTT) and p,α-dimethylstyrene (DMS) were observed. The MTT and DMS ratios did not vary for the chlorinated nor unchlorinated samples when the entire rubber lip of the wiper blade was pyrolyzed. However, when only the lip surface of the wiper blade rubber was pyrolyzed (via scratching with a knife) the relative ratios of the chlorinated sample were much greater than those of the unchlorinated sample. As MTT is produced from the conjugated backbone of chlorinated NR that forms through HCl elimination during initial pyrolysis, and DMS is generated by the dehydrogenation of MTT, these two products could be used as markers for detecting chlorinated NR.
