정상 상황과 비정상 상황에서 조종사의 수행을 예측하는 요인 (Factors predicting pilots' performance in routine and non-routine situations)

  • This study aimed to provide empirical evidence about expert performance approach in aviation field and the results suggested that the amount of experience(e.g. total flight hour) is necessary but not sufficient index of a pilot's expertise or superior performance. 43 pilots participated and completed a spatial span task and SA (situation awareness) tasks. To explore the factors predicting the performance in routine and non-routine situations, discriminant analysis was conducted. The results of discriminant analysis indicated that different variables are related with the performance in routine and non-routine situation. The factors predicting performance in routine situation were the spatial span scores and total flight hours. On the other hand, the factors predicting performance in non-routine situation were age and the qualification for instrument flying. In real world, total flight time which represents the quantity of experience has been frequently used to predict flight abilities and as an important index of expertise. The results of this study suggest that these kinds of factors have to be used cautiously to predict the performance in abnormal situation.

조종사 상황인식의 적응적 전문성: 전문가와 초보자의 계기비행 수행 비교 (Adaptive Expertise in Pilot Situation Awareness: Comparison of Expert and Novice Instrument Flight Performance)

  • 기존의 전문성 연구들은 참가자들에게 일상적인 과제를 수행하게 함으로써 전문가와 초보자들의 차이를 알아보고자 하였다. 하지만, 본 연구는 일상적 비행 상황에 익숙해진 조종사들이 이전에 경험해보지 못한 새로운 비행 상황에서도 유연하게 대처할 수 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 즉, 조종사의 숙련정도에 따라 정상적 및 비정상적 상황에서의 상황인식 능력이 차이가 나는지 관찰하였고 추가적으로, 전문성이 자극 제시 시간에 따른 수행변화에 영향을 주는지 알아보았다. 이를 위해 42명의 조종사들을 전문성의 정도에 따라 초보자와 전문가 집단으로 나누고 이들의 수행이 상황의 특수성 및 자극 제시 시간에 따라 어떻게 달라지는지 알아보았다. 연구를 위하여 조종실 계기판을 모방한 동영상이 제작되었는데, 동영상에 보여지는 계기판들이 모두 정상으로 움직이는 정상적 상황과 이들 중 하나의 계기가 오작동을 일으키는 비정상 상황이 연출되었다. 또한 상황을 지각하기 위한 시간의 차이가 전문성에 따라 다른 효과를 가져오는지 살펴보기 위해서 계기판 상황이 오랫동안 제시되는 긴 제시 조건과 상대적으로 짧게 제시되는 조건으로 조작되었다. 실험 결과, 정상적인 상황에서는 초보자와 전문가 집단 사이의 상황 인식이 유의한 차이가 없었으나, 비정상적인 상황에서는 전문가 집단의 상황인식이 초보자 집단보다 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 비행 상황의 제시 시간이 짧아졌을 때 조종사들의 전반적인 상황인식 정확도가 떨어졌지만, 전문가와 초보자의 수행차이는 변함없이 초보자 집단에 비해 전문가 집단의 높은 수행이 유지되었다. 비행 상황의 특수성과 제시 시간의 상호작용에 따라 초보자와 전문가의 상황인식은 어떻게 달라지는지 보았을 때, 비행 상황의 제시 시간이 길고 짧음에 관계없이 정상적 상황에서는 초보자와 전문가 집단의 상황인식 차이가 나타나지 않았으나, 비정상적 상황에서는 전문가 집단의 상황인식 정확도가 초보자 집단 보다 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 전반적으로 볼 때, 비정상적 상황은 전문가 집단의 수행에 미치는 영향에는 큰 영향을 미치니 못하나 초보자 집단의 수행에는 현저한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The purpose of this research was to identify expertise in ait traffic control by using cognitive skill analysis for novices and experts in routine and non-routine situations. The result of study was to understand expertise in air traffic control tasks in terms of what cognitive processes are responsible for the expert's high performance levels. The problem solving task was difficult for novices, but performed relatively automatically by experts in a routine situation. The difficulty could indicate the presence of controlled processing. Rather than rules and strategies, novices focused more on environmental factors, which merely increase cognitive load. In a non-routine situation, novices showed that they did not categorize the information consistently and alternative resources were not available for them. Experts, however, performed automatically a task by arranging and organizing information related to problem solving components in contexts without regard to a routine and non-routine situation. Especially experts developed a stable representation and directed alternative resources for air traffic flow and efficiency. Based on the results, cognitive processes of experts could be useful to understand expert performance and analyze the learning process, which imply the necessity of developing expertise systematically.

인적오류를 고려한 중대재해 조사항목의 개선 (Improvement of Investigation Items of Fatal Industrial Accidents Considering Human Error Characteristics)

  • This study investigated human error characteristics of the 42 fatal industrial accidents reported by staff members of Korea Industrial Safety Corporation. Various types of human error were judged to be primary contributing factors in about 74 percent of the cases. Most of human error made by involved industrial operators resulted from two types of mistakes: (1) mistake in judgement of work situation, and (2) omission in daily check. It was concluded that preparation/observance for work procedure manuals, danger predication training and enforcement/Education of daily check routine would be effective preventive tools for these types of human error attributable to fatal industrial accidents.

전력계통계획의 종합기계화에 관한 연구 (Study on the computer method for power system planning)

  • This paper describes a computer method for power system planning. Power system planning was usually studied through individual programs. Because of the laborious work involved in data preparation, the increase of task for power system planning and the time required for the detailed analysis of results, the available time for assessment and decision making has been sacrificed. In order to improve the above situation, the use of data base techniques an the simplified evaluation of the presented programs were newly developed. This program has been used successfully for the routine of power system planning in Korea Electric Company. In addition, this paper describes some results of analysis and evaluation of power system planning in KECO.

병원 외래진료부에서의 피난 과밀 공간 분석 모델에 관한 연구 (A Space Analysis Model of Evacuation Overcrowding at Hospital Outpatient Department)

  • This study aimed to suggest a quantitative model analyzing overcrowding area under emergency evacuation situation in the outpatient department of hospital. Overall study process included the review on legal conditions of an emergency evacuation, the investigation of precedent research documents and the analysis of spatial configuration. The user movement with considering exit gates and the one without considering exit gates were analyzed for routine activity condition. An agent-based simulation was applied for the analysis. Also, user movement for the emergency condition was tested with evacuation simulation. The variation of simulation conditions revealed the difference between overcrowding spaces from situation change. At all nodes, visit frequencies derived from different conditions and situations were compared. The overcrowding spaces are to increase the risk of delaying emergency evacuation time which is critical for user safety. It suggests the need for dispersing overcrowding spaces under evacuation situation. The suggested analysis model can evaluate overcrowding spaces in the outpatient department of hospital and provide locational data for distributing evacuation design resources.

온라인 해킹 불법 시장 분석: 데이터 마이닝과 소셜 네트워크 분석 활용 (An Analysis of Online Black Market: Using Data Mining and Social Network Analysis)

  • Purpose This study collects data of the recently activated online black market and analyzes it to present a specific method for preparing for a hacking attack. This study aims to make safe from the cyber attacks, including hacking, from the perspective of individuals and businesses by closely analyzing hacking methods and tools in a situation where they are easily shared. Design/methodology/approach To prepare for the hacking attack through the online black market, this study uses the routine activity theory to identify the opportunity factors of the hacking attack. Based on this, text mining and social network techniques are applied to reveal the most dangerous areas of security. It finds out suitable targets in routine activity theory through text mining techniques and motivated offenders through social network analysis. Lastly, the absence of guardians and the parts required by guardians are extracted using both analysis techniques simultaneously. Findings As a result of text mining, there was a large supply of hacking gift cards, and the demand to attack sites such as Amazon and Netflix was very high. In addition, interest in accounts and combos was in high demand and supply. As a result of social network analysis, users who actively share hacking information and tools can be identified. When these two analyzes were synthesized, it was found that specialized managers are required in the areas of proxy, maker and many managers are required for the buyer network, and skilled managers are required for the seller network.

확률 함수와 상황 전파 네트워크를 결합한 상황 데이터 생성 모델 (Context-data Generation Model using Probability functions and Situation Propagation Network)

  • 일상적인 상황이 주로 시간을 고려한 일정에 따라서만 발생한다고 가정하면 각 상황별 확률분포함수에 기반한 데이터 생성법은 효과적이다. 하지만, 사람들은 상황을 인식하거나 판단할 때, 이전 상황을 고려하여 현재 상황을 미루어 짐작하거나 결정하는 경우도 흔하다. 본 논문에서 제안한 상황 전파 네트워크는 상황 인식 및 결정에서 이전 상황이 현재 상황에 미치는 영향을 고려하는 것과 유사하게 상황발생 확률분포함수를 보상해 줌으로써 상황의 전개가 연속적이면서 자연스러운 흐름을 갖도록 해준다. 본 논문에서는 평범한 직장인이 집이라는 공간에서 발생시키는 상황 데이터를 생성하는 모델을 제안하였고, 모의실험을 통해 상황 전파 네트워크가 상황의 자연스러운 흐름에 얼마나 영향을 기여하는지 확인하였으며, 특히, 순차적 상황 모호성과 충돌성 지표를 새롭게 정의하여 제안한 상황 데이터 생성 모델을 평가했다. 결론적으로 상황 전파 네트워크를 결합시켰을 경우, 확률 모델만을 사용했을 때보다 순차적 상황 모호성은 6.45% 상황 충돌성은 4.60% 감소함을 확인했다.

Mariner's Performances and the Behavior Fluctuation Affecting Navigational Safety

  • This study aims to identify the degree of safety when mariners take their actions in several different situations. We have carried out many experiments to observe mariners' behavior and then measured the safety level based on their actions to avoid dangerous situations of ships collision. One of the most important actions that mariners have to take, either as their daily routine or when they are in a collision situation and then want to avoid that situation is the lookout. In this paper, behaviors on the lookout have been defined as a standard sequence of three steps which are "time of first detection", "time of recognition as risky vessel" and "time of starting avoiding action", and the suitability and applicability of the definition have been shown. And also we propose the risk assessment on ships collision and the recommendation for reducing ships collision at sea. Some analyzing results and the application of the results are reported. By combining these knowledge and some systematic studies, we propose the risk assessment on ships collision and the recommendation for reducing ships collision at sea.

A Critical Review of Current Crisis Simulation Methodology

  • This paper is concerned with simulation exercises used to train key response agencies for crisis situations. While 'multi-agency' simulations are increasingly acknowledged as a necessary and significant training tool for emergency response organisations, many current crisis simulations are still focused on the revision of existing response plans only. However, a crisis requires a rapid reaction, yet in contrast to an 'emergency', the risks for critical decision makers in crisis situations are difficult to measure, owing to their ill-structure. In other words, a crisis situation is likely to create great uncertainty, unfamiliarity and complexity, and consequently should be managed by adaptive or second order expertise and techniques, rather than routine or structured responses. In this context, the paper attempts to prove that the current practices of simulation exercises might not be good enough for uncertain, unfamiliar, and complex 'crisis' situations, in particular, by conducting case studies of two different underground fire crises in Korea (Daegu Subway Fire 2003) and the UK (King's Cross Fire 1987). Finally, it is suggested that the three abilities: 'flexibility', 'improvisation' and 'creativity' are critical in responding to a crisis situation.
