The salient pole rotor type single phase SRM has a salient pole in the rotor in order to use axial direction fluxes and radial direction fluxes simultaneously. A flux linkage between the rotor and the stator are increased because of the salient pole in the rotor. But, the inductance at unaligned position and aligned position is increased together. Therefore, the length of pole are and salient pole should be selected that the inductance increment at aligned position is higher than the inductance increment at unaligned position. On this paper, we will be studied the influence of the pole arc and the salient pole length on the torque of the salient pole rotor type single phase SRM.
This paper presents a new velocity estimation strategy of a non-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) drive without high frequency signal injection or special PWM pattern. This approach is based on the d-axis current regulator output voltage of the drive system which has the information of rotor position error. The rotor velocity can be estimated through a rotor position tracking PI controller that controls the position error to aero. For zero and low speed operation, the PI gains of rotor position tracking controller have a variable structure. The PI tuning formulas are derived by analyzing this control system using the frequency domain specifications such as phase margin and bandwidth assignment.

This paper presents a new method of detecting rotor position in Toroidal Switched Reluctance Motor(TSRM). In this paper, low cost and robust characteristics of rotor position detection method are focused in order to compensate for disadvantage of existing sensors. Search coils wound around stator poles are used for detection of rotor position in TSRM. Rotor position detection is achieved through electromotive force patterns induced by time-varying flux linkage in the search coils and then adequate phase is excited for drive. The validity of the method is verified by experimental results.
Recently, the study of sensorless drive of IPMSM is coming to be active. In sensorless drive, because the wrong estimation of the initial rotor position brings about the decrease of the starting torque, or a temporary reverse revolution, it is important to know the exact importation of the initial rotor position. In this paper, the initial rotor position estimation method is based on the current peak measured by applying the pulsewise voltage and the current peak is changed according to the rotor position owing to the saliency of the rotor. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by the experimental results.
This paper presents a new method of detecting rotor position in Toroidal Switched Reluctance Motor(TSRM). In this paper, low cost and robust characteristics of rotor position detection method are focused in order to compensate for disadvantage of general sensors. Search coils wound through the hole of the stator poles are used for detection of the rotor position in TSRM. Rotor position detection is achieved through electromotive force patterns induced by time-varying flux linkage in the search coils and then adequate phase is excited for drive. The initial rotor position estimation method is also described. The validity of the method is verified by experimental results.
This paper supposes the vector control algorithm to estimate the rotor position of permanent magnet synchronous traction motor using the hall-effect sensor. The hall-effect provides 60 electrical degrees resolution in rotor position sensing and it is very low resolution. The algorithm makes resolution high as optical encoders or electromagnetic resolver. If necessary, the reference rotor position angle is controlled by adjusting the variable. When a rotor position sensor such as either a optical encoder or a electromagnetic resolver is misalignment, it is useful to align with those. The method on adjusting the reference rotor position angle can compensate for misalignment error degrees by 60 electrical degrees.
A Switched Reluctance Generator attracts much attention in the generator because of high efficiency, simplicity, and ruggedness. However, they require rotor position information to operate. In many systems, the rotor position sensor is expensive, limited and undesirable. This paper describes a new approach to estimating the rotor position of a SRG from the measured terminal voltage and current for rotor position sensorless control. The proposed method Is based on the instantaneous inductance of the SRG. The proposed technique is very simple and it is able to apply to high speed operation under the stable condition because of its simplicity. The initial rotor position estimation algorithm is efficient and reliable. The proposed method is verified by computer simulation.

In this paper, we show that the rotor position of the bifilar-wound hybrid stepping motors for the closed-loop drives is detected by the phase current measurement. We propose an instantaneous phase current equation, which is the function of electrical angle, by modeling the stepping motor including motor driving circuits. We also analyze the relationship between phase current and rotor position from the computer simulation results. We show that the information about the rotor position is obtained from the phase current amplitude and its derivatives at the instance of ${\pi}/2$ electrical angle of excitation voltage.

The information on the actual voltages and actual currents of the motor is required for the sensorless control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor without rotor position sensors. In the model-based rotor position estimator of a PM synchronous motor, the reference voltages, which are the outputs of the current controller, are commonly used. The reference voltages in over-modulation regions for high-speed operation differ from the actual voltages applied to the motor. Consequently, the estimated rotor position and rotor speed may fail to track the real rotor position and real rotor speed. In this paper, the sensorless control for a PM synchronous motor in over-modulation regions for high-speed operation is proposed. The three-phase voltages applied to the motor are measured by using additional voltage detection circuits, and the performance of the rotor position estimator based on the measured three-phase voltages is validated through the experimental results.
In this paper, a flux linkage model based on four magnetization curves fitting is proposed for three-phase 12/8 switched reluctance motor (SRM), with the analysis of the basic principle of flux detection method and function analysis method. In the model, the single value function mapping relationship between position angle and flux is established, which can achieve a direct estimation of rotor position. The realization scheme of SRM indirect position detection system is presented. It is proved by simulation and experiment that the proposed scheme is suitable for rotor position detection of SRM, and has high accuracy of position estimation.
