In this study, fluid/structure coupled analyses have been conducted for 3-D stator and rotor configuration. Advanced computational analysis system based on computational fluid dynamics(CFD) and computational structural dynamics(CSD) has been developed in order to investigate fluid/structure responses of general stator-rotor configurations. To solve the fluid/structure coupled problems, fluid domains are modeled using the structural grid system with dynamic moving and local deforming techniques. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with Spalart-Allmaras(S-A) and SST ${\kappa}-{\omega}$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used for computing the coupled aeroelastic governing equations of the 3-D turbine blades for fluid-structure interaction(FSI) problems. Detailed fluid/structure analysis responses for stator-rotor interaction flow conditions are presented to show the physical performance and flow characteristics.

In this study, a computational analysis system has been developed in order to investigate flow-induced vibration(FIV) phenomenon for general stator-rotor cascade configurations. Relative movement of the rotor with respect to stator is reflected by modeling independent two computational domains. Fluid domains are modeled using the unstructured grid system with dynamic moving and local deforming methods. Unsteady, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with one equation Spalart-Allmaras and two-equation SST $k-\omega$ turbulence models are solved for unsteady flow problems. A fully implicit time marching scheme based on the Newmark direct integration method is used flow computing the coupled governing equations of the fluid-structure interaction problem. Detailed FIV responses for different flow conditions are presented with respect to time and vibration characteristics are also physically investigated in the time domain.
Flow through turbomachinery has a very complex structure and Is Intrinsically unsteady. In addition, trend to highly loaded turbomachinery makes the flow extremely complex due to the interaction between rotor and stator. In this study, flows through UTRC LSRR turbine are numerically analyzed using 2 dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The convective terms of the governing equations are discretized using the Van-Leer's FVS(Flux vector splitting) with an upwind TVD scheme. The conventional central differencing is used to discretize the diffusion terms on the finite volume. The accurate unsteady motion is achieved by using a 2nd order accurate, 3-point Euler implicit scheme. The quasi-conservative zonal scheme is used for calculating the flow variables on the zonal interface between the rotor and stator. The axial gap between stator and rotor has been configured in two variations, 15% and 65% of average chord length. The analysis program is validated using experimental results and the effect of axial gap is examined. The numerical analysis results are presented by time averaged pressure coefficient and pressure magnitude coefficient and compared with experimental results.
The turbine performance test of an axial-type turbine is carried out with various axial gap distances between the stator and rotor. The turbine is operated at the low pressure and speed, and the degree of reaction is 0.373 at the mean radius. The axial-type turbine consists of ons-stage and 3-dimensional blades. The chord length of rotor is 28.2mm and mean diameter of turbine is 257.56mm. The power of turbo-blower for input power is 30kW and mass flow rate is $340m^3/min\;at\;290mmAq$ static-pressure. The RPM and output power are controlled by a dynamometer connected directly to the turbine shaft. The axial gap distances are changed from a quarter to two times of stator axial chord length, and performance curves are obtained with 7 different axial gaps. The efficiency is dropped about $5{\%}$ of its highest value due to the variation of axial gap on the same non-dimensional mass flow rate and RPM, and experimental results show that the optimum axial gap is 1.0-1.5Cx.

This paper proposes a sensorless control approach for Wound Rotor Synchronous Machines (WRSMs) based on a high frequency voltage signal injection into the stator side U phase and VW line, respectively. Considering the machine itself as a rotor position sensor, the rotor position observer is established according to the principles of the rotary transformer. A demodulation method for the high frequency signal inducted in the rotor is proposed as well. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed sensorless control approach has high performance and good practicability.
Rotor bar faults in induction machines, which are a part of main distribution of power system, can even stop the entire system by causing contact between a stator and a rotor. There are two methods of diagnosing rotor bar faults in induction motors, online and offline tests, and existing diagnosis methods have many limitations which can lead to misdiagnosis. This paper proposes a potable rotor bar faults diagnosis system based on single phase rotation test, one of offline test methods, which detects rotor bar faults through impedance interpretation by exciting AC current in a stator winding. The test was conducted on a motor of 0.4kW in the laboratory and a motor of 1500kW in industry field.
This paper describes a basic structure, analysis of characteristics and test method for high speed axial-gap BLDC motor. The newly designed axial-gap BLDC motor has 2-stator disks with 3-rotor disks and is easy to increase power capacity by increasing the numbers of stator/rotor disks. For high speed operating, the rotor is composed of light and strong strength material and has several separated magnets to reduce stress concentraction by centrifugal force.
This study introduces about development of multi-DOF ultrasonic motor that are composed of a bar-shaped stator and a spherical rotor. The ultrasonic motor is a motor which is operated by vibrations over frequency of 20kHz. The multi-DOF ultrasonic motor will be developed by expanding the basic theory of existing 1-DOF ultrasonic motor. It can generate 3-DOF rotation of the rotor around perpendicular axes using 3 vibration modes of stator. By using finite element methods, the optimal dimension of stator is decided and made the components of stator. When we apply the multi-DOF ultrasonic motor composed of rotor and stator to the driving test system, it will be checked whether the motor can be driven at the direction of 3-DOF or not. And it is proposed how the simulation of square bar shaped multi-DOF ultrasonic motor is accomplished.
It has been indicated that the rotor/stator interaction has distinct causes of unsteadiness, such as the viscous vortex shedding, wake/stator interaction and potential rotor/stator interaction. In this paper, the mechanism of unsteady potential interaction in one stage axial compressor is numerically investigated for blade row ratio 1:1 and 2:3 at design point and for blade row ratio 2:3 at off-design point in two-dimensional view point. The numerical technique used is the upwind scheme of Van-Leer's Flux Vector Splitting(FVS) and Cubic spline interpolation is applied on zonal interface. In this study the flow unsteadiness due to potential interaction are found to be larger in blade row ratio 2:3 than in 1:1. The total pressure rise in blade row ratio 2:3 is closer to the real value in design point than that in 1:1. The change of unsteady pressure amplitude according to the variation of stator exit pressure is very small.
