주관적 향의 선호도와 뇌파 반응과의 상관관계 (A Study on Correlation Between Subjective Assessment and EEG for Essential Odors)

  • In the present study, the correlation between subjective assessment and EEG for essential odors were investigated quantitatively. EEG signals were measured from 19 electrodes according to the International 10-20 system (Fp1, Fp2, F3/4, F7/8, Fz, C3/4, Cz, P3/4, Pz, T3/4, T5/6, O1/2) from 8 healthy males subjects for four odor(Rose oil bulgarian, Lemon oil misitano, jasmin abs, Laverder oil france (KIMEX co. Ltd) conditions. The result of the subjective assessment shows the most pleasant odor for each subject. and the power spectrum of ${\alpha}/({\alpha}+{\beta})$ of EEG signals from the most pleasant odor was compared with those from the control condition, which has no odor at all. Power spectrum of ${\alpha}/({\alpha}+{\beta})$ of EEG from the most pleasant odor was increased significantly at T4, T6 compared to the control condition. This result implies that the parameter, power spectrum of ${\alpha}/({\alpha}+{\beta})$, could be an important index for signifying the levels of pleasantness for odors.

  • In this present study, the correlation between subjective preference of essential odors and EEG response were investigated quantitatively. EEG signals were measured from 19 electrodes according to the International 10-20 system (Fpl, Fp2, F2/4, F7/8, Fz, C3/4, Cz, P3/4, Pz, T3/4, T5/6, Ol/2) from 8 healthy males subjects in four odor conditions. Four odor conditions (Rose oil bulgarian, Lemon oil misitano, Jasmin abs, Laverder iol france (KIMEX co. Ltd)) were applied for each subject in the experiment. Through the subjective evaluation, the most pleasant odor for each subject was determined. The power spectrum of ${\alpha}$/${\beta}$ of EEG signals from the most pleasant odor was compared with those from the control condition, which has no odor at all. It was observed that the power spectrum of ${\alpha}$/${\beta}$ of EEG from the most pleasant odor was increased significantly on F3, F3, F4,74 comparing to the control condition. This result indicates that the power spectrum of ai${\beta}$ could be a new index for measuring the levels of pleasantness of odors.

Analysis of Volatile Compounds and Enantiomeric Separation of Chiral Compounds of Dried Sancho (Zanthoxylum schinifolium Siebold & Zucc)

  • The volatile compounds of dried sancho (Zanthoxylum schinifolium), an aromatic plant were extracted by simultaneous distillation and extraction (SDE) method and identified by gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Selected chiral constituents of sancho oil were characterized by enantiodifferentiation using multidimensional gas chromatograph (MDGC)-MS. A total of 57 compounds were identified and quantified, and the major compounds were identified estragole, nonanoic acid, octanoic acid, $\beta$-phellandrenene, and limonene. Among them, estragol (63.9%) was found as the predominantly abundant component of sancho. $\alpha$-pinene and nerolidol, and $\beta$-pinene and linalool were determined to be enantiomerically pure (100%) for their (S)-form and (R)-form, respectively. The enantiomeric composition of limonene in sancho revealed 83.9% purity for the (S)-enantiomer, whereas (E)- and (Z)-rose oxides showed mixtures of both enantiomers. The enantiomeric excess (%) for citronellal was 22.6% with the (R)-enantiomer as major enantiomer. The enantiomeric composition of these compounds can be used as parameter for authenticity control of sancho.

방사선 요법을 받는 유방암 환자에게 적용한 아로마 요법이 우울, 불안 및 자율신경계 반응에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Aromatherapy on Depression, Anxiety and the Autonomic Nervous System in Breast Cancer Patients Undergoing Adjuvant Radiotherapy)

  • 목적: 본 연구는 아로마 요법이 방사선 요법을 받는 유방암 환자의 우울과 불안정도, 자율신경계 반응에 미치는 효과를 파악하는 것이다. 방법: 대상자는 가톨릭대학교 서울성모병원에서 유방 보존술 후 보조적인 방사선 요법을 받는 여성 중 선정 기준에 적합한 33명(실험 I군 16명, 실험 II군 10명, 대조군 7명)이었다. 아로마 요법은 직접 흡입법으로 6주 동안 실시되었으며, 아로마 에센셜 오일은 Lemon (Citrus limonum), Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora), Rose (Rosa damascena)를 혼합하였다. 방사선 치료 전에 대기실에서 처방된 아로마 에센셜 오일을 거즈에 묻혀 흡입하도록 하였고, 주말에는 가정에서 같은 방법으로 흡입하도록 하였다. 실험 I군은 아로마 요법을 하루에 3회 시행하였고, 실험 II군은 실험 I군과 같은 아로마 요법을 방사선 치료 전에 1회, 대조군은 티트리 오일을 이용한 아로마 요법을 방사선 치료 전에 1회 시행하였다. 아로마 요법의 효과를 파악하기 위하여 우울은 Beck의 Depression Inventory로, 불안은 Spielberger 등의 도구로, 자율신경계 활성도와 균형도 및 스트레스에 대한 신체 저항도는 SA-5000P (MEDICORE CO., LTD)로 측정하였다. 자료는 SPSS WIN ver. 12.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과: 우울정도는 실험 I군과 실험 II군이 실험 후 감소하고 대조군은 증가하여 집단과 시점간의 교호작용이 있었다. 불안정도와 부교감신경 활성도 및 스트레스에 대한 신체 저항도는 세 군 모두 실험 후 감소하는 경향이었으나 집단과 시점간의 교호작용은 없었다. 교감신경 활성도는 실험 후 실험 I군과 실험 II군에서 감소하고, 대조군에서는 증가하는 경향이 있었다. 결론: 방사선 요법을 받는 유방암 환자에게 아로마 요법을 하루 3회 실시한 실험 I군과 하루 1회 실시한 실험 II군 모두 우울정도가 감소되었다.
