This paper presents a robust slewing control of a flexible space structure based on sliding surface design. A sliding surface is designed for a single-axis rest-to-rest slewing in view of target angle, target angular velocity, and root monent of the flexible appendage. In comparison with the Lypunov control law, both controllers guarantee the stability and command tracking capabilities for nominal system. It is also shown that the designed control law provides further robustness to internal/external uncertainties. Extending the results of a single-axis maneuver, a sliding mode control law was sought for an arbitrary three-axis maneuver. Quaternion was used to determine the attitude of a space structure and sliding surfaces were designed for each axis, thereby a robust control law was derived considering the coupling effects between each rotational axis during the maneuver. Several numerical examples were demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the designed control law.

For the prediction of the crack growth initiation from a blunt notch or a precrack in a prestrained material under plane strain tension and small-scale yielding conditions, a microscopic fracture criterion is proposed in terms of the crack tip opening displacement(COD) needed for the attainment of fracture strain at a microstructural distance. Smooth blunting of a crack tip with an initial root radius is assumed, and strain distributions on the crack-line axis are calculated at each deformation stage until the distributions against an original distance normalized to the COD are insensitive to an initial root radius. This case of no initial-root-radius effect is taken as for a sharp crack tip, on which the criterion is applied to determine the characteristic length of material from a critical COD for a fatigue-precracked specimen. The predicted COD at the fracture initiation from a crack with an initial root radius or a prestraining shows reasonable agreement with experimental values.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the root canal transportation and remaining dentin / cementum thickness after using hand and ultrasonic instrumentation in the curved mesial root canals of extracted human mandibular molars. Fourty - six clear polyether blocks were made and randomly divided into two groups: hand instrumentation group with K - Flex files and ultrasonic instrumentation group with Suprasson SP unit. All root canals were instrumented to a size corresponding to a # 30 K - Flex file 1mm short from the radiographic apex. The roots were then sectioned perpendicular to the long axis so the apical and middle third could be evaluated with the Zoom stereomicroscope. The results were as follows : 1. In the total amount of removed dentin at middle third level, there was not significant difference between the hand instrumentation and ultrasonic instrumentation (P>0.05). 2. In the total amount of removed dentin at apical third level, there was more removed by the ultrasonic instrumentation than hand instrumentation(P<0.005). 3. In the transportation width, there was not significant difference between the two groups at both sectioned levels(P>0.05). 4. It was suggested that the canal was transported distally at middle third level and mesially at apical third level by booth techniques.
At present, many orthodontists regard the root parallelism of the posterior teeth important not only in diagnosis and treatment planning but also for predicting posttreatment stability. To evaluate it, they usually refer to the orthopantomogram. At this study, 97 samples were collected from students of Yonsei University, who have well-proportioned face, Angle's class I canine & molar relationships and no crown axis deviation of the posterior teeth including canines. Reliability of the root parallelism observed from orthopantomogram was evaluated by comparison with $45^{\circ}$ oblique cephalogram. The results were as follows : 1. In comparing the differences between anglular measurements in $45^{\circ}$ oblique cephalogram & orthopantomogram with $5^{\circ}$, those to mandibular plane were significantly less than to occlusal plane in number of items which showed less differences than $5^{\circ}$. 2. Compared the root parallelisms in the orthopantomogram with those in $45^{\circ}$ oblique cephalogram with $1\%$ significance level, parallelism between upper canine & 1st premolar, lower canine & 1st premolar, lower 1st premolar & 2nd premolar, and lower right 2nd molar & 3rd molar showed statistically significant differences. 3. When the significance between the differences of the root parallelism between above two kinds of film and $5^{\circ}$ was verified by two sided paired t-test, more or less large difference was shown between lower right 2nd molar & 3rd molar, a little larger than $5^{\circ}$ between lower canine & 1st premolar, smaller at the rest of them. 4. In $45^{\circ}$ oblique cephalogram, lower canine & 1st premolar showed convergent root arrangements each other, while in orthopantomogram they were divergent each other. All the others except them showed convergency on the upper, divergency on the lower in both films.
This study is to investigate the canal system in the mesiobuccal root of the maxillary first molar. 61 maxillary first molars were randomly selected. Serial transverse sections were made perpendicular to the long axis of the mesiobuccal root. Each section was placed in 3% sodium hypochlorite for 24 hours and rinsed in water and dried. The resected surface was stained with 2% methylene blue dye and examined with stereomicroscope. 1 Canal configuration analysis showed that 36.1% of the specimen classified as type I, 16.4% as type II , 37.7% as type III and 9.8% as type IV. 2. Type II canal was merged in one canal within 1 to 4mm of the apex. 40% of type II canal converged at 2mm of the apex. 3. Type IV canal was divided into two canal within 2 to 4mm of the apex. 66.6% of type IV canal branched off at 2mm of the apex. 4. None of the sections had more than two main root canal. 5. 48.4% of the sections in 3mm with two canals contained an isthmusand more than 70% with two canals has isthmus at 4 to 5mm sections. 63.9% of the mesiobuccal root of maxillary first molar had two canaland 76.5% of sections with two canals in 5 MM had an isthmus. Because of this complexity the clinician should always search for extra canal carefullyand root canal system, including an isthmus, should be cleaned and shaped completelyand obturated three dimensionally for successful endodontic treatment.

This study was designed to determine the location of the mandibular canal on lower molar areas. Thirty-three patients were examined with multi-planar reformatted CT scan($Dentascan^{(R)}$). Three kinds of measurements were performed. The first was the distances between the upper border of the mandibular canal and the root apices of the first and second molars, the second was the distance between the cortical plate of the mandible and mandibular canal, and the last was the location of the mandibular canal in the buccolingual plane. The obtained results are as follows 1. The distance between the root apices of lower molars and the superior border of mandibular canal was largest at the mesial root of the first molar, and shortest at the distal root of the second molar(p<0.05). 2. The longest distance between the outer surface of the buccal cortical plate of the mandible and mandibular canal was measured from the distal root of the second molar, and this distance decrease gradually mesially(p<0.05). 3. The distance between the mandibular base and inferior border of mandibular canal was longest at the distal root of the second molar, and shortest at the mesial root of the first molar(p<0.05). 4. The location of mandibular canal was lingually positioned in relation to the axis of teeth and alveolar ridge in molar areas.
Advancements in sensor technology, particularly Inertial Measurement Units (IMU), are crucial in modern pose estimation. IMUs typically consist of accelerometers and gyroscopes (6-axis), with some models including magnetometers (9-axis). This study investigates the impact of sensor frequency on pose estimation accuracy using data from a 256Hz IMU sensor. The data sets analyzed include "spiralStairs," "stairsAndCorridor," and "straightLine," with frequencies varied to 128Hz, 64Hz, and 32Hz, and conditions categorized as stationary or dynamic. The results indicate that sensitivity remains high at lower frequencies under stationary conditions but declines in dynamic conditions. Performance comparison, based on Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) values, showed that lower frequencies lead to increased RMSE, thus diminishing model accuracy. Additionally, the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) was tested as an alternative to Madgwick's algorithm but faced challenges due to insufficient sensor noise data.
This study was carried out to determine the effect of various period of nursery on the growth, yield and labor saving of work by truncation on floral axis of Alisma plantago in the southern coastal areas of Korea. The growth characteristics such as p]ant height, number of leaves were more increased at 20 days of nursery period plot them that of nursery periods. The dried-root yield was highest then but the floral axis was lowest at the 20 days of nursery period plot then that of other nursery periods. Therefore optimum period on nursery of Alisma plantago was 20days of nursery period in southern areas of Korea.

The author observed the eruption pattern of the mandibular premolars. For this study the author took 406 cases of oblique cephalographs of 6 to 12 year old children. The measurement were with regard to the vertical and horizontal dimensional changes and tooth axis changes to the occlusal plane. The following results were obtained. 1. At stage V the tooth axis of 1st premolar inclined mesially to the occlusal plane, as the tooth erupt toward vertically the angulation changed that at stage X the tooth axis almost right angle to the occlusal plane. 2. The distance from the root apex of premolars to the lower border of mandible were slightly increased to the stage VII, while after stage VII rapid increasing appeared. At stage X the distance of 1st premolar was more longer than 2nd premolar. 3. The distance from the mesial surface of 1st molar to the mesial surface of premolars were decreased slightly to the stage VII, but this distances were decreased rapidly after stage VII. 4. The distance between distal surface of 1st premolar and mesial surface of 2nd premolar was almost constant before stage VIII, at stage IX this distance was little presented because the premolars were contacted.

This study conducted a seismic qualification analysis of small savonius style vertical axis wind turbine(VAWT) using finite element method(FEM). The modal analysis was performed on the wind turbine structure to check the occurrence of resonance caused by the rotation of gearbox and windmill blades. Next, it conducted a seismic response spectrum analysis due to horizontal and vertical seismic load of required response spectrum of safe shutdown earthquake with 5 % damping(RRS/SSE 5%) of KS C IEC 61400 and conducted a static analysis due to deadweight and wind load. The total maximum stress of the VAWT structure was calculated by adding the maximum stresses due to each load case using the square root of the sum of the squares(SRSS) method. Finally, the structural safety of the VAWT structure was verified by comparing the total maximum stress and the allowable stress.
