냉간 압연에서 압하력 분포 예측 - Part I : 수식 모델 개발 (Prediction of Roll Force Profile in Cold Rolling - Part I : Development of a Mathematical Model)

  • The capability of accurately predicting the roll force profile across a strip in the bite zone in cold rolling process is vital for the calculation of strip profile. This paper presents a derivation of a precision mathematical model for predicting variations in the roll force across a strip in cold rolling. While the derivation is based on an approximate 3-D theory of rolling, this mathematical model also considers plastic deformation in the pre-deformation region which is located close to the roll entrance before the strip enters the bite zone. Finally, the mathematical model is expressed as a boundary value problem, and it predicts the roll force profile and tension profile in addition to lateral plastic strain profile.

  • This paper proposes a precise mathematical model for the prediction of the variation of the roll force across a strip in cold rolling. It further describes the deformation characteristics of the strip using a 3-D finite element method. The different features of hot rolling and cold rolling through a 3-D finite element method are shown. The predicted roll force profile and tension profile are verified through comparison with the prediction from a 3-D finite element method.

  • The temperature distribution of high speed tool steel rod has been studied during high speed hot rolling procedures. The tool steel rod shows severe temperature gradient during rolling procedures and the temperature at the center of rod are much higher than that at the surface of rod. This temperature gradient accumulated after every rolling procedure and the center of rolled rod could be remelt in some procedures to cause inside defects. In this study, the temperature distribution was simulated using finite element method and the processing parameters such as rolling speed, cooling condition, have been discussed to prevent the temperature increases at the center of rod.

윤활유의 수분혼입 및 베어링강의 표면 조도가 구름접촉 피로수명에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Water Contamination of the Lubricant and Surface Roughness of Bearing Steel on the Rolling Contact Fatigue Life)

  • A large amount of research has been performed on the rolling contact fatigue(RCF) life of bearings, since it directly affects the safety and reliability of mechanical systems. It is well known that rolling contact fatigue life is influenced by several parameters including contact pressure, oil contamination by water or metal particles, and the surface conditions of bearings. However, the detailed damage mechanisms involved in rolling contact fatigue have not been clearly identified yet. In this paper the effects of water contamination of the lubricant and surface roughness of bearing steel on the rolling contact fatigue life were investigated. Two types of specimens with different surface roughness values were prepared through turning and lapping operations. They were tested under two different lubrication conditions, i.e. oil lubricant with 100% of oil and the water contaminated condition with 80% of oil and 20% of water using the rolling contact fatigue testing machine. The surface damage induced by the rolling contact fatigue was observed by using atomic force microscope(AFM). Experimental results show that the rolling contact fatigue life, $L_{10}$ was reduced by 24 to 33% depending on the lubrication condition. The reduction of fatigue life in the range of 53 to 57% was also observed at different surface roughness conditions.

자기부상방식 AMD를 이용한 모바일 하버용 횡동요 저감 데모 장비의 개발 (Development of Anti-Rolling Demo System for Mobile Harbor Using Maglev Type AMD)

  • Mobile harbor which is a novel concept of ocean transportation to bring the containers from the cargo ship waiting on the ocean away is being focused now. To provide the mobile harbor with the stable loading/unloading condition, it is necessary to develop the oscillation mitigation technologies such as anti-rolling system. Anti-rolling system using AMD(Active Mass Driving) has merits that it can handle the disturbances more actively and mitigate the rolling oscillation faster than other type anti-rolling system. However, rack-and-pinion type AMD has problems such as big friction noise from gears and motor, wear and tear, and continuous maintenance. In this paper, novel anti-rolling system using Maglev type AMD for mobile harbor is suggested in order to resolve the problems caused by the friction. This novel anti-rolling system doesn't make any friction because it supports the moving mass by using magnetic levitation force and moves it by using propulsion force from the linear motor. The demo system of the novel anti-rolling system using maglev type AMD has been developed in order to investigate its feasibility. This paper presents the procedures and results of development of this demo system.

강가공된 순수 Cu의 미세조직과 기계적 특성 평가 (Evaluation on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Severely Deformed Pure Cu)

  • The present study was carried out to evaluate the microstructural and mechanical properties of cross-roll rolled pure copper sheets, and the results were compared with those obtained for conventionally rolled sheets. For this work, pure copper (99.99 mass%) sheets with thickness of 5 mm were prepared as the starting material. The sheets were cold rolled to 90% thickness reduction and subsequently annealed at $400^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. Also, to analyze the grain boundary character distributions (GBCDs) on the materials, the electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD) technique was introduced. The resulting cold-rolled and annealed sheets had considerably finer grains than the initial sheets with an average size of 100 ${\mu}M$. In particular, the average grain size became smaller by cross-roll rolling (6.5 ${\mu}M$) than by conventional rolling (9.8 ${\mu}M$). These grain refinements directly led to enhanced mechanical properties such as Vickers micro-hardness and tensile strength, and thus the values showed greater increases upon cross-roll rolling process than after conventional rolling. Furthermore, the texture development of <112>//ND in the cross-roll rolling processed material provided greater enhancement of mechanical properties relative to the case of the conventional rolling processed material. In the present study, we systematically discuss the enhancement of mechanical properties in terms of grain refinement and texture distribution developed by the different rolling processes.

안티롤링 진자를 이용한 부유체의 횡동요 저감 (Reducing Ship Rolling with a Anti-Rolling Pendulum)

  • 부유체의 횡동요는 승조원의 피로를 누적시키고, 심지어 구조물 전체를 전복시키기 까지 하고, 또 선체에 반복적인 외력을 가하는 등 부유체의 안정성과 구조물의 안전에 심대한 영향을 끼친다. 그래서 거의 모든 선박의 경우에는 빌지킬을 설치하여 횡동요를 감소시키고 있고, 특수한 경우에는 안티롤링 탱크나 핀 스태빌라이저나 자이로스코프 등을 설치하여 횡동요를 줄이고 있다. 그러나 안티롤링 탱크는 설치하는데 용적을 많이 차지하고, 핀 스태빌라이저나 자이로스코프는 설치비와 유지 관리비가 많이 든다. 본 연구에서는 안티롤링 진자를 이용하여 부유체의 횡동요를 줄이고자 한다. 보통 단진자라고 하면 질량체를 끈으로 어디엔가 고정시켜 놓고 자유롭게 흔들리는 구조를 말한다. 여기에서는 통상의 진자 대신에 진자를 원궤도에 올려놓아서 단진동 운동을 하도록 하는 원리를 이용한다. 제안한 장치를 실험선에 적용하여 그 효능을 입증하였다. 안티롤링 탱크의 약 1/8의 중량과 약 1/6의 용적을 가진 안티롤링 진자를 이용하여 이것보다 더 좋은 효과를 낼 수 있음을 확인하였다. 여기에 더하여 선체에 안티롤링 진자를 부가한 모델의 선형운동방정식과 비선형 운동방정식을 제시하였다.

알카리용액에서 구름베어링용 세라믹스의 부식이 구름마모 및 경도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Corrosion of Rolling Bearing Ceramics in Alkalic Solution on the Rolling Wear and Hardness)

  • Silicon nitride ceramic has been verified as an excellent rolling bearing material because of its high strength and outstanding rolling fatigue life properties. However under some corrosive circumstances it showed drawbacks such as hardness reduction and severe wear caused by corrosion. In this work, the variations of the rolling wear and hardness of three kinds of ceramics were studied for the specimen aged 15 days in alkali water (90 $\pm$ 2$\^{C}$,25 wt% NaOH ). All of the specimens, ① Si$_3$N$_4$, ② 3Y-TZP and ③ 3Y-TZP alloyed with 5 wt% CeO$_2$, were sintered and post-HIPed, and then polished up to 0.02 $\mu$mRa of surface roughness. Rolling wear tests were conducted by MJ type rolling fatigue life tester under the initial theoretical maximum contact stress of 3.16 GPa and the spindle speed of 1,000 rpm. Spindle oil was used as a lubricant. The specimens were not worn before aging. For the specimen aged in alkali water, Si$_3$N$_4$ and 3Y-TZP were worn by rolling wear tests, and hardness was decreased. While aging the specimens, the phase was transformed from tetragonal to monoclinic in 3Y-TZP and the microstructure change occurred in Si$_2$N$_4$. 3Y-TZP specimens alloyed with 5 wt% CeO$_2$ were not worn after aging and no phase transformation occurred while aging.

한국근대기 철도공장의 건축적 특성에 관한 연구 -용산공장을 중심으로- (A Study on the Rolling Stock Workshop to Analyze the Contribution to the Modern Korean Architecture)

  • 한국의 철도공장은 철도도입과 함께 설립되었고 근대기 산업건축의 중심이 되었다. 한국 철도공장의 대표적 사례인 용산공장에는 근대기 건물이 다수 현존하는데, 특히 규모를 잘 보존하고 있어 이를 중심으로 근대기 건물의 건축적 특성을 살펴보고자 한다. 한국의 철도공장은 입지조건이 적합한 곳에 건립되었고, 작업공정에 따른 시설 배치, 각각의 용도와 기능에 따른 독특한 구조 및 단면 입면의 형태를 갖고 있고 철골구조와 철근콘크리트 구조를 적극 도입하여 구조적 변환기로서의 특성을 보여주고 있다. 따라서 철도공장이 한국 근대 공장건축의 초기적 특성을 갖고 있고 한국 근대기의 산업건축유산으로써, 중요한 가치를 지닌 과제임을 밝히려 한다.

동속압연과 이속압연이 동합금판재의 조직 및 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Conventional Rolling and Differential Speed Rolling on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Copper Alloy Sheet)

  • The effects of conventional rolling (CR) and differential speed rolling (DSR) on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a copper alloy sheet were investigated in detail. A copper alloy with thickness of 3 mm was rolled to a 50% reduction at ambient temperature without lubrication with a differential speed ratio of 2:1; sample was then annealed for 0.5h at various temperatures from 100 to $800^{\circ}C$. Conventional rolling, in which the rolling speed of the upper and lower rolls is identical, was performed under the same rolling conditions. The shear strain introduced by the CR showed positive values at positions on the upper roll side and negative values at positions on the lower roll side. However, the shear strain showed a zero or positive value at all positions for the samples rolled by the DSR. The microstrucure and mechanical properties of the as-rolled copper alloy did not show very significant differences between the CR and DSR for the microstructure and mechanical properties. However, those properties showed very significant differences in the case of the annealed samples. The effects of rolling method on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the as-rolled and subsequently annealed materials are discussed in terms of the shear strain.
