Work roll wear in the cold rolling of mild steel strip is strongly affected by rolling materials, rolling conditions such as roll arrangement in the cold rolling mill and lubrication. The tests were performed to find the effects of roll arrangement n the cold rolling mill on the work roll wear under the same lubricating conditions. The obtained results are as follows:If the distance of cold rolling is about 60km, the surface roughness of its was reduced by half(Ra 0.49${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) and Pc(peak count) also was decreased to 60 ea/cm.It is easier for CC(Continuous casting) to make a slip on rolling than IC(Ingot casting). It is due to surface mirror in which first residual product appears and iron powder included Al2O3 is sticked. Because bending degree of 4Hi-rolling mill is higher than 6Hi-rolling mill, the first surface mirror was occurred to its center-point which is loaded strongly. 6Hi-rolling mill shape-controlled by intermediate roll doesn't need the initial crown to work roll. Therefore, fatigue and wear would appear a little bit.

Up to now, it has been common to treat the maneuvering motion of a ship as a 3-degree-freedom motion i.e. surge, sway and yaw on the sea surface, for the simplicity and mathematical calculation, and it is quite acceptable in the practical point of view. Meanwhile, considering the maneuverability of a ship under the special conditions such as in irregular waves, in wind or at high speed with small GM value, it is required that roll effect must be considered in the equation of ship motion. In this paper the author tried to build up the 4-degree-freedom motion equation by adding roll. And then, applying the M.M.G.'s mathematical model and with captive model test results the roll-coupled hydrodynamic derivatives were found. With these the author could make some simulating program for turning and zig-zag steering. Through the computer simulations, the effect of roll to the ship maneuver became clear. The effect of the wind force to the maneuverability was also found. Followings are such items that was found. 1) When roll is coupled in the maneuvering motion, the directional stability becomes worse and the turning diameter becomes smaller as roll becomes smaller as roll becomes larger. 2) When maneuver a ship in the wind, the roll becomes severe and the directional stability becomes worse. 3) When a ship turns to the starboard side, the wind blowing from 90 degree direction to starboard causes the largest roll and the largest turning diameter, and the wind from other direction doesn't change the turning diameter. 4) When a ship is travelling with a constant speed with rudder amidship, if steady wind blows from one direction, the ship turns toward that wind. This phenomenon is observed in the actual seaways.

In ship operation, the roll motions can seriously degrade the performance of mechanical and personnel effectiveness. So many studies for the roll stabilization system design have been performed and good results have been achieved. In many studies, the stabilizing fins are used. Recently rudders, which have been extensively modified, have been used exclusively to stabilize the roll. But, in the roll stabilization control system, the control performance is very sensitive to the ship speed. So, we can see that it is important to consider the ship speed in the rudder roll control system design. The gain-scheduling control technique is very useful in the control problem incorporating time varying parameters which can be measured in real time. Based on this fact, in this paper we examine the;$H_{\infty}$-Gain Scheduling control design technique. Therefore, we assume that a parameter, the ship speed which can be estimated in real time, is varying and apply the gain-scheduling control technique to design the course keeping and anti-rolling control system far a ship. In this control system, the controller dynamics is adjusted in real-time according to time-varying plant parameters. The simulation result shows that the proposed control strategy is shown to be useful for cases when the ship speed is varying and robust to disturbances like wind and wave.

The fighter aircraft uses several different loading configurations for air-to-surface and air-to-air combat missions. To maintain wings-level flight with an asymmetric weapon configuration, a pilot controls a roll trim system. However, it is difficult to apply an accurate roll trim input for wings-level flight in the actual flight under disturbance. The inaccurate roll trim input degrades the performance of the roll autopilot system. In this paper, to solve this problem, an integrator was additionally designed in the command part of the roll autopilot system. The initial transient response was improved by scheduling the limiter to restrict the roll attitude error. As a result of the evaluation of the simulation for the designed flight control law, the roll attitude following performance was found to be improved in the autopilot system operation under the inaccurate roll trim condition.

This study considers the numerical analysis on parametric roll for container ships. As a method of numerical simulation, an impulse-response-function approach is applied in time domain. A systematic study is carried out for the parametric roll of two container ships, particularly observing the sensitivity of computational results to some parameters which can affect the analysis of parametric roll. The parameters to be considered are metacentric height (GM), simulation time window, and the discretization of wave spectrum. Based on the result of parametric roll simulation, numerical sensitivity and uncertainty in computational analysis are discussed.

Demand of good seakeeping perfomace is increasing for sea going vessels such as cruisers, naval ships and container ships. Especillay roll motion is one of major concerns in evaluation of seakeeping performance due to its large resonace motion. Since large roll resonance motion is mainly arised from inherent small damping. use of additional mechnism to provide roll damping can significantly reduce roll motion. In this paper, a reliable performace evaluation method of fin stabilizer, which is very useful for stabilizing roll motion of mid and high speed vessls, is described. Model test and time domain simulation methods are adopted for performance evaluation in which real operating situation of fin stabilizer can be exactly modelled. Model test and simulation results show good correlations between model test and simulation results.
This study was carried out to get required torque data needed to design and develop a roll-up ventilation system in a pipe-constructed plastic film green-house. The results obtained from this study are as follows : 1. The required torques of a roll-up ventilation system in greenhouse are the functions of its length. The torques should multiplied by the conversion coefficients (2.0 in ceiling vent, 1.8 in side vent) in case of application. 2. In constructing pipe-constructed plastic film greenhouse, a shaft pipe is the largest essential element in roll - up shaft weight constitution which have an effect on the required torques. Therefore, the pipe should be light using nonferrous materials like aluminum alloy. 3. A planetary reduction ventilator of differential ring gear type is suitable for a roll-up ventilation system, because it can make high efficient reduction just using the first step shift.

Anti roll bar model for real time multibody vehicle dynamics model has been proposed using kinematic constraint. Anti roll bar have been modeled by kinematic relationship, and mass properties are neglected. Relative angle of torsion bar spring is computed by constraint about drop-link using Newton-Raphson iteration, and then the torque of torsion bar spring can be computed with the angle and torsion spring stiffness. Finally anti roll bar force acting on both knuckle can be calculated. To validate the proposed method, half car simulations of McPherson strut suspension and full car simulations are also carried out comparing with the ADAMS vehicle model with anti roll bar. CPU times are also measured to see the real-time capabilities of the proposed method.
This paper presents a study of the effect of rolling temperature, roll gap (pass height), initial specimen size and steel grades of specimens on the roll force in round-oval-round pass sequence by applying approximate method and verifications through single stand pilot rod rolling tests. The results show that the predicted roll forces are in good agreement with the experimentally measured ones. The approximate model is independent of the change of roll gap, specimen size and temperature. Thus, the generality of the prediction methodology employed in the approximate model is proven. This study also demonstrates that Shida's constitutive equation employed in the approximate model needs to be corrected somehow to be applicable for the medium and high carbon steels in a lower temperature interval (700∼900$\^{C}$).
Generally a RF AGC controls the roll gap using the variation of rolling force caused by the roll eccentricity and the entry thickness of material, but these can not be classified. The Feed- forward AGC method, which controls the next stand roll 9ap by estimation the skid mark of the previous stand output thickness is needed to supplement the shortage of RF AGC. In this paper, an improved filtering method of skid mark which take account of the kinds of materials, the final objective thickness and the roll speed is proposed, In addition, an improved estimation method of control point using the speedometer and looper angle is suggested, Via simulation, the performance improvement of the suggested FF AGC method is verified.
