인쇄 롤의 간접식 레이저 가공을 위한 코팅과 에칭 기술 (Coating and Etching Technologies for Indirect Laser processing of Printing Roll)

  • For mass production of electronic devices, the processing of the printing roll is one of the most important key technologies for printed electronics technology. A roll of printing process, the gravure printing that is used to print the electronic device is most often used. The indirect laser processing has been used in order to produce printing roll for gravure printing. It consists of the following processing that is coating of photo polymer or black lacquer on the surface of printing roll, pattering using a laser beam and etching process. In this study, we have carried out study on the coating and etching for $25{\mu}m$ line width on the printing roll. To do this goals, a $4{\mu}m$ coating thickness and 20% average coating thickness of the coating homogeneity of variance is performed. The factors to determine the thickness and homogeneity are a viscosity of coating solution, the liquid injection, the number of injection, feed rate, rotational speed, and the like. After the laser patterning, a line width of $25{\mu}m$ or less was confirmed to be processed through etching and the chromium plating process.

유연 디스플레이 인쇄를 위한 인쇄 마크 형상 연구 (A Study of Printing Mark Shape for the Flexible Display)

  • 인쇄의 품질은 영상처리용 레지스터 마크 간의 오차에 의해 결정되므로 영상처리용 레지스터 마크의 형상이 중요하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 롤투롤(roll-to-roll) 인쇄에서 많이 사용하는 그라비어 방식의 인쇄에 영상처리를 이용하여 해상도가 높고, 속도가 빠른 유연 디스플레이 인쇄에 적용될 수 있는 마크를 개발한다. 본 연구에서는 70[mpm] 속도 범위에서 레지스터 마크의 형상을 명확히 인식할 수 있고, 전자 인쇄에서 요구되는 인쇄오차 10[${\mu}m$]이내가 가능한 레지스터 마크 형상을 개발하고, 실험을 통해 타당성을 확인하였다.

  • A novel architecture and proprietary electronic inks were developed to provide disruptive digital-media solutions based on an electrokinetic technology platform. The flexible reflective electronic media (eMedia) was fabricated by imprinting three-dimensional microscale structures with a roll-to-roll manufacturing platform. The HP technologies enable the required attributes for eMedia, such as low power, transparency, print-quality color, continuous levels of gray, and lowcost scalability. Pixelation was also demonstrated by integrating with the prototype oxide thin-film transistor backplane, and the system architecture was further developed by stacking primary-colorant layers for color reflective-display application. The innovations described in this paper are currently being developed further for the eSkins, eSignage, and ePaper applications.

롤(roll) 형태의 출력방식을 활용하는 3D 프린팅 가방 개발 (Development of 3D Printed Bags Using Roll-Type Printing Method)

  • 3D printing technology, also known as additive manufacturing(AM), has not been actively used in the clothing industry despite its potential for economic, environmental, and labor efficiency. Therefore, this study aims to propose a new 3D printing method for the clothing industry, which will be more readily accessible. This roll-type printing method can print wide-sized patterns at once using a 3D modeling program and a FDM 3D printer and help overcome the limitations imposed by the size of the printer. Then, to demonstrate the practical application cases of this printing method, bags of three designs were developed. Prior to product development, a thickness test was performed for stable printing using TPU(Thermoplastic Poly Urethane) filament, and a thickness of 0.45 mm was found to be most suitable for it. Next, the time efficiency test showed that the roll-type printing method takes less time compared to the general printing method in printing wide-sized patterns. Based on these tests, three bags, , and , were developed to confirm the suitability of the roll-type printing method for product development. The advantages of 3D roll-type printing can lie in overcoming of the spatial limitation, and the environmental sustainability as it can reduce waste from the production process. This study is significant in that it presents a new 3D printing method to improve the space limitations and time inefficiency of 3D printers.

  • Printing technology is accepted by appropriate technology that smart phones, tablet PC, display(LCD, OLED, etc.) precision recently in the electronics industry, the market grows, this process in the ongoing efforts to improve competitiveness through the development of innovative technologies. So printed electronics appeared by new concept. This technology development is applied on electronic components and circuits for the simplification of the production process and reduce processing costs. Low-temperature process making possible for widening, slimmer, lighter, and more flexible, plastic substrates, such as(flexible) easily by forming a thin film on a substrate has been studied. In the past, the formation of the electrode used a screen printing method. But the screen printing method is formation of fine patterns, high-speed printing, mass production is difficult. The roll-to-roll printing method as an alternative to screen printing to produce electronic devices by printing techniques that were used traditionally in the latest technology and processing techniques applied to precision control are very economical to implement fine-line printing equipment has been evaluated as. In order to function as electronic devices, especially the dozens of existing micro-level of non-dot print fine line printing is required, the line should not break at all, because according to the specifications required to fit the ink transfer conditions should be established. 은 잉크를 이용한 그라비아 오프셋의 전극인쇄에서 닥터링 공정의 영향 (The Effects of Doctoring Process in Gravure Off-set Printing on Patterning of Electrodes with Ag Ink)

  • In this paper, we analyzed the effects of doctoring process on the patterns of Ag ink in gravure off-set printing. The parameters of doctoring process were the angle and the pressure, which was represented by the depth of blade movement to the gravure roll, of doctor blade to the surface of gravure roll, and the angle of patterns engraved on the gravure roll to the doctor blade moving direction. The proper parameters were extracted for the fine patterns and they were 15 mm for the pressure, $60^{\circ}$ for the blade angle. And the angle of patterns with respect to the blade movement should be less than $40^{\circ}$ for the best results. The gravure off-set printing with the above parameters was carried out to print gate electrodes and scan bus lines of OTFT-backplane for e-paper. The line width of $50{\mu}m$ was successfully obtained. The thickness of electrodes was $2.5{\mu}m$ and the surface roughness was $0.65{\mu}m$ and the sheet resistance was $15.8{\Omega}/{\Box}$.

오프셋 인쇄의 틈새출구에서 공동의 변화에 대한 시뮬레이션 (Computer Simulation for the Cavitation Changes at the Exit of Offset Printing Nip)

  • Offset paper printing is a promising roll-to-roll technique for color printed materials. Although it is no doubt that understanding ink transfer mechanism in offset printing process is necessary to achieve high printing quality, investing the relationship between inks and substrates at the nip is difficult experimentally due to high printing speed. In this paper, rheological behavior and splitting point of the ink at the nip is studied using package software Ployflow and Flow 3D based on Navier-Stokes equation. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) ink and IGT printability tester were used for an model ink and experiment to compare with that of simulation data, respectively. As a result, higher viscosity at state flow and pressure increased ink transfer due to higher possibility of presence of cavitation at the nip and increase in covering area ratio. These results have shown good agreements with experimental data compared by measuring density of print through.

  • The lithographic process depends on a satisfactory ink-in-water emulsion being formed during printing and the speed of wet presses makes the choice of fountain solution vitally important as the ink and fount must react quickly to form a stable emulsion. Ink and water come into contact with each other on the rolls of the press and are forced together in the roll nips. The water is not soluble in the ink since it is slightly fat. Instead, an emulsion is formed, a heterogeneous mass consisting of small water drops mixed into the ink, if the water feed is too great. This emulsification can affect the properties of an off-set ink and negatively affect the printability. So we investigated the effects of the emulsification of phenol free heat-set ink and existing heat-set ink on printed quality, such as amount of ink transfer, printed density, print-through and uniformity. We used Duke emulsification tester for the emulsification of inks, and used IGT printability tester for printed quality. The printed quality were measured by densitometer and were evaluated by the image analysis system. Compared to conventional printing ink, phenol-free ink showed better results of the printability at the emulsification.
