  • Purpose: This study examined the mediating and moderating effects of multicultural efficacy in the relationship between cultural empathy and cultural competence in child care teachers. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive survey design was used. The participants were 277 child care teachers at private and public daycare centers in G and S districts of Seoul. The survey instruments included a cultural empathy questionnaire, a multicultural efficacy scale, and a cultural competence scale. Data were analyzed using the SPSS and AMOS programs. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation, and mediating and moderating effect analyses were performed. Bootstrapping was implemented to verify the mediating effect of the model developed herein. Results: Positive correlations among cultural empathy, multicultural efficacy, and cultural competence were noted. Multicultural efficacy showed a significant mediating effect on the relationships between cultural empathy and cultural competence. However, there was no moderating effect. Conclusion: In order to enhance the cultural competence of child care teachers, it is necessary to develop a strategy that can promote their cultural empathy and multicultural efficacy. Furthermore, these results will ultimately enhance the role of child care teachers, thus contributing to the normal growth and development of multicultural children.

  • Purpose: This study investigates the controlling effect of self-efficacy in the relationship between the happiness and loneliness of hospice volunteers. Methods: The subjects of this study were 120 hospice volunteers in G City. This study uses the happiness scale that Lee and Yu developed, the loneliness scale that Russell revised and Park translated, and Bandura's self-efficacy scale. The collected data were analyzed with frequency, ANOVA, and hierarchal regression by using SPSS 12.0. Results: The happiness scale of the subjects, based on general traits, was significant in occupation and image. The loneliness scale was significant in monthly income. The self-efficacy of the subjects was significant in monthly income, occupation, and hobby. The happiness of the volunteers affected loneliness. With respect to the relationship between the happiness and loneliness of the volunteers, self-efficacy did not have controlling influences. Conclusions: The results suggest that happiness can affect loneliness without the controlling influence of self-efficacy. As such, it would be beneficial to develop programs that can improve the happiness of hospice volunteers.

  • Purpose: This study systematically examined the concept of digital selling readiness of salespeople. Additionally, this study empirically confirms the sequential mediating roles of digital literacy and salesperson self-efficacy in the impact of digital selling readiness on customer-oriented behavior. Research design, data, and methodology: We collected data from salespeople at a Bank and Financial Service firm in South Korea. A total of 254 salespeople were invited to participate, with 154 surveys returned. After removing the questionnaires with missing values, 150 complete surveys were employed for the analysis. Results: The empirical analysis indicates that digital selling readiness positively affects digital literacy. Digital literacy, in turn, is positively associated with self-efficacy, leading to increased customer-oriented behaviors among salespersons. This study also confirms the sequential mediating effects of digital literacy and self-efficacy in the impact of salespeople's digital selling readiness on customer-oriented behavior. Conclusions: Our research deepens the understanding of how digital selling readiness fosters customer-oriented behavior through the sequential mediating effects of digital literacy and self-efficacy. This study extends the previous model by sequentially involving digital literacy and self-efficacy to better understand the psychological processes of digital selling. The results highlight the role of digital selling readiness in preparing salespeople for digital sales.

  • This study conducted a regression analysis on 312 local government officials in Gyeonggi-do to verify the hypothesis on the relationship between job autonomy and organizational citizenship behavior. Path analysis was conducted to analyze the mediating effect of organizational fairness recognition and the moderating effect of self-efficacy. Looking at the analysis results, first, it was confirmed that the higher the degree of job autonomy perceived by the members of the organization, the more positive (+) organizational citizenship behavior was. Second, the partial mediating effect of procedural justice was confirmed in the relationship between autonomy and organizational citizenship behavior. On the other hand, the mediating effect of distributional justice was rejected in the relationship between autonomy and organizational citizenship behavior. Third, self-efficacy controlled the mediating role between job autonomy and organizational citizenship behavior in recognition of procedural justice. Fourth, it was analyzed that self-efficacy plays a controlling role between job autonomy and organizational citizenship behavior. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of organizational behavior theory through preceding factors of organizational citizenship behavior to improve the organizational performance of local public officials.

  • This study aims to find out the determinants of burnout in order to better understand the burnout process among social workers. For this purpose, a hypothetical model which explains the relationships among 8 job-related stressors (role ambiguity, role overload, difficulties in solving problems of clients, conflict with the clients, lack of support from the supervisor, closed communication pattern, bureaucracy, and lack of accountability), 4 mediators (job-stress, professional role performance, abiding by the agency policy and partiality in service delivery), and 4 dimensions of burnout (physical exhaustion, psychological exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment) was developed. Using the data collected from 207 social workers, the hypothetical model was tested. For data analysis, a path analysis was used, and the best-fitting model was found(df=66, $x^2$=63.250, GFI=0.962, CFI=1.00). As a result of this study, the following results were found. Burnout among social workers was increased by the 6 job-related stressors(role ambiguity, role overload, difficulties in solving problems of clients, conflict with the clients, lack of support from the supervisor, closed communication pattern). Job-stress, the mediating variable of the emotional path to burnout, increased professional role performance and the abiding by agency policy, and finally increased burnout. On the other hand, professional self-efficacy (which consists of professional role performance, abiding by agency policy and partiality in service delivery), the mediationg variable of the cognitive path to burnout, reduced burnout when the professional role performance was high, and abiding by agency policy and partiality in service delivery were low.

Teachers of the children also rated social competence. Correlations and regressions showed that parenting stress and difficulties in parenting were negatively related and parenting confidence and behavior were positively related to social competence, respectively. Parenting stress was the most influential variable to explain social competence. Maternal parenting stress was negatively related to parenting behavior and confidence, and it was positively related to difficulties in parenting. Parenting confidence was positively related and difficulties in parenting were negatively related to the subscales of parenting behavior, respectively. Parenting efficacy tended to play a mediating role between maternal parenting stress and parenting behavior.
